Jake did indeed fail the salmon ladder. He went up 1 rung, but on the 2nd rung he didn't lock the bar in, fell backwards with the bar in hand and whacked himself on the side of his left eye. Because of the fail and his time over the warped wall, he ended up 16th.

Ouch. That looks freaking painful. And 16th? That's gotta hurt. No pun intended. And thanks for the answer. I watched Jump City, and when I heard he was competing, I wanted to know how he would do. Still, would have preferred Dylan Baker from Rogue.

I know they were both freak accidents, but that's the 2nd straight ANW where someone bled from the face. Gotta try to fix that before it ends up a problem IMO.

As far as I can tell, it's nothing that could have happened in Midoriyama

Dylan probably would have been there, but he's not old enough to compete, he's got to wait a couple years, makes sense right....

As far as I can tell, it's nothing that could have happened in Midoriyama I'd say it'd be entirely possible to miss a notch and hit yourself in the face with the salmon ladder bar, but then again that'd be a bruise and not something that bloody...

I know. 26 Sasuke tournaments, and I cannot think of a single time we've seen blood drawn from a wipeout, although some were painful (Yamada's groin attack on the balance tank and Yoshiyuki Okuyama's wipeout on the Spider Flip spring to mind). But in only 3 ANWs, we've seen blood drawn twice. Dylan probably would have been there, but he's not old enough to compete, he's got to wait a couple years, makes sense right.... Huh. For some reason, I thought he was only a little younger than Levi. He definitely seems older than Patrick Cusic.

Accidents happen; on other day Yamada could've landed on his neck and broken it. Not drying the mats was unsafe and stupid, however.

People get hurt when running obstacle courses. I'm sure people have bled at Sasuke but it wasn't shown on TV.... Stop moaning about it.

SASUKE almost got cancelled after SASUKE 18 cause five people got hurt on the Rope Glider.

Let me correct myself. I know people get hurt on Sasuke. Happens quite a bit. Just look at Shingo Yamamoto dislocating his shoulder at least twice on the course, and the Rope Glider. However, drawing blood from the Salmon Ladder bar hitting Jake in the face is something that is fairly easy to prevent. Just pad the ends of the bar or add the rubber stoppers in like Sasuke, and those will hit his face, causing a possible bruise, but not blood.
And of course, there's last year, where that guy faceplanted on his wipeout on the Bridge of Blades and drew blood. That, there's no excuse for. We've seen plenty of faceplants on Sasuke, but no blood.

Blood can be drawn from brute force. There doesn't need to be a cut. If a big heavy metal bar hits you in the face it's very possible for it to draw blood. The salmon ladder is a pretty dangerous obstacle to begin with.
That's why when I built mine I attached ropes to it so that if I messed up the bar wouldn't fall all the way down with me.

I just really hate when people are blaming ANW for injuries on an obstacle course.... Injuries happen.... There's a risk for reward.... Just like almost every other competition. Get over the blood.

That's probably what made it so dangerous making the bar so restricted... Hell, Look at Jun in 23, Yuuji in 25 and Naoki in 26, They brought the bar with them in their fail (Well Yuuji wasn't like the others but a weird case worth noting), I think the restricted bar makes it easier to have it lock on you during a fall or have the chains whip you if you're over something relatively safe to fall into

I don't really see how having no restrictions would make it safer. I was scared when Iketani fell.

Well look what happened? He got out of the water without a scratch on him...
Oh, Levi's Slider Drop would be a good example too of free bars, he was completely fine after that

Oh, Levi's Slider Drop would be a good example too of free bars, he was completely fine after that Free falling with a metal bar simply isn't safe. Yes he did end up fine, but that doesn't mean it's safe. Simply put, accidents happen. ANW isn't somehow magically more dangerous than Sasuke is. Though it's true that they need to fix as many issues as possible so they don't get into any kind of trouble.
