Well.. I don't think they knew what it was... They knew. TruTV contacted me and asked to use this footage. We spoke for about it for a month or so before it was all final. They knew what ninja warrior was and everything involved with what was shot that day. But, as usual, I have no control over whats done in the editing room. I see some of you guys are a lil upset. So if you have questions, they can be all directed towards me, and I'll be honest about everything. The only footage that was used was footage I shot. The segment was to be only revolved around my fail, but the wanted more filler. I sent them a dump of basic background footage and some other bits. I was not worried too much cause the focus was on me. I'm sorry if anyone is pissed off. If you are mad at me, so be it. I apologize, honest, I do. No one to blame but myself. Not trying to be a douche about it, just owning up to the situation. One more note: Just so we are all clear. This was not an attempt to get on TV. I have NOT submitted this clip to any outlet other than my YouTube channel. I know it was on fail blog, I made them take it down. I know its on break, someone else submitted it, I asked them to take it down, they offered me coin, I gave in and agreed (and sent some of that to David). In the case of true TV they contacted me. made an offer and I thought it would be funny for a celebrity roast. I was actually hoping for the Comedian "Godfrey" to do the commentary since he and I had met previous to submission but he was unavailable.

jfeathe I meant the reference directly to the show "Ninja Warrior" which G4 owns and what the comedians (or washed up actors.. since Leif Garrett was one of them..) were talking about in conjunction to the video. I see what you mean now (I'm a bit slow sometimes Although I really don't know, I wouldn't think simply mentioning and discussing Ninja Warrior would be enough to warrant any legal action. As I posted above, I was more worried that the actual footage being copyrighted material that was owned by G4. I'm relieved now that I know it was, in fact, Ryoga's footage. Ryoga, I just want to know now why you didn't ask for permission from David and others? I understand that the footage was centered around you, but the fact remains that it was on David's property, on his course, and included people other than you. I'm surprised that Tru TV specifically asked for extra footage and then didn't ask permission from the people included in that footage.

Considering that show is simply comedians/B-list and lower celebs simply going by a script I doubt every single one of them feels that way about the video. I'm certain this is true. Ive met a few of them at comedy club and they are far from douchey. My guess is they just read what they are told and cash the check. I have no doubt if I ran into Loni Love she would apologize to me (Not that I need one).

Did you not just read Ryoga's post like 3 above yours? And how it was ALL Ryoga's footage? Yeah he should've asked David, but what's illegal about it?

Thanks Ryoga for the response but you should have talked to David about it. Obviously he's upset about it. Given yes it was on his property and his voice was in it as well. With any footage that is going to be used everyone involved has to be approved. Location alone usually needs a waiver (at least in the Film industry needs it). Best to contact David about it and deal with it that way rather than further discussing it here.

I'm not taking sides in this but he was also seen in the vid a few times besides the voice (Rope Swing, UCH, Slider Jump without jumping which I don't know what that was about)

Pretty sure this show works differently. Think of America's Funniest Home Videos (AFV). Does every person get permission from everybody in every video before submitting it to possibly be aired on national television? I doubt the old people who fell off a deck and into a pool thought to do that. That being said, I also really don't think there's anything illegal here. Ryoga should've asked, but he didn't. It's not the end of the world. I also wasn't saying the clips look like they're from Youtube. My point was that if someone posts something you don't like (a video of your face, an embarrassing thing you didn't want posted, etc.), Youtube doesn't care. If you try to claim a video is infringing upon your rights, a little message pops up that essentially says, "If you ain't got money, we ain't got time for you.". The clips are way too nice looking to be from Youtube.

Thanks Ryoga for the response but you should have talked to David about it. There is more to this story. I sent David a message on Facebook, I have not heard back from him (I assume he is really pissed). I'm going to go silent on this matter until he replies to this board again. Side Note: Id just like you all to know I consider David a buddy. On some level you all are buddies. and I would not sell anyone of you out for any amount of money. What happen is part misunderstanding, bad judgment and poor planing. But ultimately the mistake lies with me. I understand some of you are really angry. and that's understandable. Not to play the woe is me game but.. I had a clip of mine used in a news story a year ago that I did not consent for. I was pissed for about 6 days, but eventually got over it. I sent them only footage of me, they asked for more and then I just burned a DVD of what I had and the rest was in their hands. I can tell you that i did not expect them to use footage of anyone else, but in retrospect and seeing how it came out, what else was to be expected. Thought, it came out just as I had assumed. They set up the environment, the local, and situation. showed me in clips where I seem like a prissy b**** and the fail. Pretty much as good and as bad as it could have gone.

Does every person get permission from everybody in every video before submitting it to possibly be aired on national television? AFHV requires a waiver.. so if they find out you didn't have permission on certain aspects of the video they actually disqualify you. So yes.. you need permission before you do that.. especially if compensated. Unlike viral videos.. this was compensated it seems? Only Ryoga can say if he got paid for it.

"Certain aspects" is the key.
I dunno. I think everyone is getting too worked up about this.
