Devastation.
Again...
The third stage is NOT letting up. To me the results were UNexpected because I thought Yuuji would tear up the Ultimate cliffhanger (someone like him will, soon) So to me it was a shocker that no one could do it, it's gotta be all those obstacles in advance that wear you down.
To you was it another shock, or kind of expected?

I didn't expect anyone to pass UCH when it got to stage 3, but I suppose if I hadn't seen ANW then I would have expected David to give it a good go.

The Roulette Cylinder + Doorknob Grasper combo seems to take alot out of the competitors. No one looked sure on the Doorknob Grasper because of the rotating knobs. And no one moved the Cylinder efficiently except for Campbell.

I thought one person would clear it but once I saw the lineup I kinda gave hope after all the Japanese fell

I also thought the UCH was going to get beaten. I did not expect Okuyama or Lee to beat it this time around though. I thought it would be Urushihara or Kongu. The americans didnt have the experience there. Though Okuyama and Lee got further than they did last time. Next tournament, it SHOULD be beaten.

Not a shock really, the first few obstacles sap all your energy so it makes a difficult obstacle really difficult. I also thought Yuuji might beat it but until we see him, or those other crazy UCH guys get to the third stage, it's too hard to judge just how difficult it is.

Well IMO Lee did a pretty fine job on the UCH this time. And although I never really expected it, Okuyama showed real determination. The difference between his last attempt and this attempt was staggering. If I had to predict beforehand I would've though David or Lee had the best shot... but that 5th ledge (if you can even CALL it a ledge) looks just insurmountable to me!

For starters, I was shocked that ANW ended up telling 2/3 of the stage 3 story. I'm not surprised by Lee, but ecstatic for Okuyama. His near Floating Boards disaster last time made him look far less capable than he really was.
I keep saying this, and I know most of you probably think I'm weird, but I think the Doorknob Grasper is the key to the third stage. If you can glide through like David did on the Roulette Wheel and somehow easily cross the Doorknobs, I think there's a good chance of clearing the UCH.
I hope they make the Doorknobs in 27 like they did in 25.

I'm not surprised that no one cleared the cliff hanger. I am surprised though that only 2 people besides the american's passed stage 2.

That was just freakin awesome.

Okuyama was awesome, especially considering he was the last Japanese competitor remaining. Did a great job on the third stage and i think he might have been the quickest to the UCH as well.

When i saw the stage 3 lineup I didn't think anyone would pass, especially because I watched ANW2, so basically there were only 2 chances of passing it.
I thought Lee had the best chance, so when he went down I really didn't think Okuyama would make it. However, I took a look at the clock and notice there was a lot of time left, so I thought maybe Okuyama would pass. I know Sasuke ends "early" but I don't recall it ever being 20 minutes early. So I was shocked but also not.

yes, expected it and okuyama almost passed and to make more interesting the fifth ledge its basically hell because it is very small but passable. if trained properly.

Not that he actually WON, but I'm sure he had to feel good about his result. On a side note, he CRUSHED the first three obstacles. David was definitely on to something there...

Not that surprised by Stage 3's results, especially since I already saw the ANW2 guys. I thought Li might make it at first, but regardless I was happy with his run and staying consistent yet again. Okuyama shocked me in a good way since I was expecting him to fail pretty early on the UCH (i.e. the first half of it, especially after what happened to him in 25), but he got farther than I expected. And not only did he arguably tie for best performance in 26, but IIRC he's the first 40-something to reach Stage 3/be the last man standing. That in itself is unbelievable, which makes me all the more happy for him.
