Only 2 people passed stage 1 in 19 and it was the only time ever that no competitor has reached stage 3. It's a no-brainer for me!

I gotta go with 19 myself. Main reason, as some of the others have stated, the number of clears.
Stage 1: 2 clears in 19/ 10 clears in 26.
Stage 2: 0 clears in 19/ 6 clears in 26.
Stage 3: No stage 3 in 19/ 0 clears in 26.
As much as now we can see the obstacles being a bit more at home for most of 26 compared to 19, the damage was done exponentially since not everyone knew what was going on back in 19. I'll give it that 26 is a definite challenge thanks to the R.E, but even then, there were 10 who did complete the 1st stage, beating the R.E with very little trouble.

Only 2 people passed stage 1 in 19 and it was the only time ever that no competitor has reached stage 3. It's a no-brainer for me! We have more strong competitors nowadays. Back then there was no Yuuji, only 2 americans, pretty much no "new stars" and a bunch of people like Okuyama were just starting out. Plus of course there will be less stage 2 clears if less people got there. Stage 1 may have been harder, but stage 2 and 3 are in a different league.

When addressing this question, I would not look at the number of clears because there are stronger competitors now and that the course is a little more familiar to the competitors now. The obstacles are the key to this question.
1. These don't really make much of a difference they are about the same difficulty 2. Same for this slot, the log grip did not do much damage for high-level competitors 3. Rolling Escargot > pole maze by a long shot. The escargot is probably the nastiest obstacle we have seen on stage 1 since the jumping spider 4. The jumping spiders from each are virtually identical. BUT the rolling escargot messes with your brain and is probably the worst obstacle to have before the js so I say that 26's js is slightly harder due to obstacle placement. 5. Exactly the same 6. Exactly the same 7. Clearly FC > Giant Swing
The thing that really separates the two first stages is the Rolling Escargot and the FC. So which is harder? I say that the RE and the sasuke 19 FC were about equally as difficult (and I personally think the FC was a smidge harder) but I said that 26's first stage was more difficult because of the placement of the two obstacles.
Both of these were causing massive damage but the thing that sets them apart is their placement. The 19 FC was the 7th obstacle and by the time competitors got to it they were already exausted. The RE, on the other hand, was at the very beginning when the competitors were almost fresh out of the gate and used very little energy on the first two obstacles. With this added to the fact that the placement of the JS right after the RE makes the JS slightly harder, I say 26's first stage was he hardest.

I really wouldn't say that both half pipe attack's were the same. In 19 there was the flame paint on it which I think caused people to slip a little bit when running up onto it compared to 26. Not to mention that the rope looked a little higher in 19 and also the drop from grabbing the rope to landing on the mat was DEFINITELY higher than 26. I'd say the half pipe attack from 19 was tougher than 26 but only very slightly.

If it's only slightly, it doesn't matter too much anyway. I really doubt there's someone that could beat 1 version but not the other.

Guys like Kanno and Yuuji need two tries to beat the Half-Pipe Attack. You'd only have one shot on 19's Half-Pipe Attack since the rope is higher up. You wouldn't be able to swing back and set your feat on the halfpipe if you missed the landing.

Once they changed everything in 22 then it the Half Pipe attack was easier.

It was higher and was harder to recover but that makes little difference because someone who has to have two tries is most likely going to time out anyway. I don't remember there being anyone who has taken more than one swing and has cleared. Were there any people who have?

Ooh thats right but have there been any more than that? in 23 Kanno took 3 tries (2 swings back), Same tournament Yuuji took 2, both cleared.. I'm sure there are more but those are examples off the top of my head

It's amazing how 26 has more votes. Harder Jumping Spider, debut of HPA (and its most difficult version), Flying Chute and decrease in 15 seconds despite obstacle # being the same in 18 as compared to Rolling Escargot and MAYBE Jumping Spider due to similarity to 19 (despite only shown to take out Nagano, Sato and Yamada in terms of established competitors) and back to 130 seconds. 2 clears and no Stage 3 as compared to 10 clears and 6 in Stage 3 (regardless of country of origin). Yeah, people TOTALLY aren't overreacting here.

I think it's not as much of the results as much as the course itself.. Hell... 20 and 21 were identical courses and 3 clears in 20 to 9 clears in 21, The experience of the competiors is getting higher really. Take away the numbers and I can see where people are coming from... Like I said... Put 19's competitors on 26's course and it'd be a slaughter.. Put 26's competitors on 19's course and the course would be (Most likely be...) slaughtered... so it's kind of a gray area Although I find this funny Really?... No one agrees with me?...

Yeah, people TOTALLY aren't overreacting here. Simple, 26 had better and stronger competitors. Had Sasuke 19 had the new stars, and the 10 americans you'd probably see more clears. And it's not over-reacting. Stages 2 and 3 are WAAAAY harder than before.

That being the biggest problem. In 2007 it seems all we had to depend on were the all stars, Nagasaki Shunsuke, Kongo (started his failing streak) PAnthonyT and..... hmm..
Stage 2 in 26 is also more of a challenge, if you beat the salmon ladder in 19 it seems most of the challenge is already behind you.

Taking in every account, I would vote closer to 'Too close to call'. I'm not voting, I'm just putting my thoughts on it.

I voted 26 because of the fact that the all stars didn't even make it past the JS, and The current champ failed the HPA!

Both of them are too distinct in their own ways. I voted too hard to tell.
