I'm just saying some of the American's have more potential than some of the Japanese non big name competitors. I don't see a big deal with there being 10 US guys. If the problem is that the Japanese people don't want to see 10 Americans then why do you think G4 splits the Americans and the tournament? It works both ways. Actually historically the stronger competitors have come from Sasuke Trials In fact one of them is champion right now.. As for G4 splitting the broadcast.. The Japanese don't see the G4 version so I have no idea what you are implying. As for the American viewers liking the split.. you are vastly in the minority. Most prefer the tournament to be complete including the Americans alongside the other 90 competitors.. as it should be. As for the TBS broadcast, TBS has no steadfast rule over who they cut. I swear they toss a coin sometimes.. LOL

I know. I'm aware who is champion and who has been champion and trials..... What I was saying was, the 10 Americans that are sent are better than some non big name competitors. Say like the Mongolian sumo wrestler and the chicken farmer from last time.... (This is not including the celebrities who fail early as well like Chosu, Dandy Sakano, etc. I understand TBS is in the money making business and need some big names to attract some new viewers.)
Also, someone implied that the Japanese doesn't like that the Americans get 10 competitors. So I said maybe some Americans don't mind it being separate. Maybe some just want to see all the Americans run after each other. How do you know it's the minority? Did you poll all the Americans that watched the 1st ANW? No. The casual fan isn't going to post on G4. So you saying it's the minority may be true based on what you've heard but isn't necessarily correct. The casual fan probably doesn't even know who Nagano is. They want to watch people run obstacle courses and completely understand the reactions without relying on sub-par translations. So if the Japanese don't like there being 10 American competitors, why can't the American audience that watches G4 want to watch only the Americans? G4 is in the money making business as well...

Seriously, do we need to do another poll on this subject for the point to get across that the majority of SASUEK fans prefer to watch the TBS unedited version over G4's version. Personally, if you want to watch the G4 version then watch it. I have watched the TBS version (with Chinese subtitles) ever since it came out here. I wouldn't watch the G4 version or some other network's version if they made changes like G4. But that's my choice and my opinion. If TBS gave G4 the rights to SASUKE and making their own changes to it, then so be it. Watch whatever the hell you want to.

G4 isn't going to air that much footage especially with 3 commercials during each 30 minute episode.... You lose viewers with a long broadcast. My point again isn't about G4 > TBS (I like each broadcast equally), I'm wondering why it's such a bad thing that G4 has 10 Americans competing. I don't see how it's a bad thing.

The TBS 4 hour broadcast would turn into a 7 Hour G4 broadcast. I'm sure everyone would sit through that....

They had 5 straight episodes that comprised Sasuke 24. Last time I checked in this country they don't get the TBS broadcast so unless you are suggesting something else entirely I have no idea what you are trying to say. Most people watched all the previous stuff they aired before that. Just because you don't do it doesn't mean that everyone does. Their ratings go up during Marathons. That's a fact.

5 episodes = 2.5 hours. That's fine. An uneditted TBS broadcast with American subtitles would be almost 7 hours long with a commercial every 8-9 minutes.
My point is: G4 would never and could never run a whole TBS broadcast like someone earlier suggested would be a good idea. They won't be given that much of a time block and no casual fan is going to sit there for 7 hours....
I'm still trying to understand why G4 sending 10 Americans is a bad thing. =/

I'm still trying to understand why G4 sending 10 Americans is a bad thing. =/ What was suggested was do what Taiwan did for a decade.. Put subtitles on the already created TBS broadcast without further tinkering. Meaning G4 wouldn't put the recaps of the recaps... that will not add additional time. TBS is littered with commercial breaks just as G4 is. That will not take 7 hours. Besides Sasuke 24 was an anomaly in the programming. Most are 3-4 hours (post Sasuke 20) and 2-3 hours (pre Sasuke 19). While I doubt anyone here is bitching about the actual content of ANW (meaning the competitors by name) the over-saturation of G4 within Sasuke is what bothers most Japanese. As an American I'm sure you are going "why not" but the previous 22 Sasuke had a handful of foreigners to add flavor.. not promote another television station within someone else's show.. which unfortunately G4 has done with Sasuke. TBS at least filters that and edits out the failures regardless of country origin so it has a way of balancing itself out. Quite frankly from the Japan point of view.. it's a Japanese show.. not an American one. That's why ANW was even invented.

This is an important point. In the previous 22 Sasukes when a foreign competitor showed up, most of us sat up and took notice because of it was a rare event and because M9 made them at least sound interesting (whether they were or not).
In contrast, the ANW competitors are notable chiefly because they won a contest. Since it's a G4 thing, M9 doesn't really say much about them at all, so the vast majority of the audience is left thinking, "what's so special about those guys, and why are there so many of them?"

Actually for 24 G4 had 6 episodes, Which I guess makes sense since it was a 6 hour broadcast with alot to show in Japan, But they usually have done 5 as of when Shin Sasuke started (With the exception of the 3 episode 19). Anyways...
And Robby.. You do realize that 10 of 100 or so spots are just the Americans.. And in a broadcast you only see around 80 or so of those competitors and that's with the fast forwards, So consider how big of a space that is.. For a Japanese show FOR Japanese viewers, How would you feel if theres a show like Sasuke in America (I don't mean ANW since then we'd be going in circles.. just play along...) and a bunch of people from another country take a 10th of the spots allowed in essence just to promote their version of the show.. They're taking the spots that lessen your chance of getting on and it's nothing special to you.. How would you feel about that?
Also don't use that "If TBS/M9 have a problem with it then they wouldn't give them 10 spots" argument.. I'm sure the only reason they're ALLOWED to get 10 spots is because G4 is Sasuke's biggest international buyer.. You can't exactly piss off people willing to give you money for a show.. Hate to say it but G4 is one of the things keeping Sasuke alive at this point... If you'll excuse me I have to go preform Harakiri now because I said something remotely positive about G4 relating to Sasuke...

I'm sure the top 10 Americans can hang with the top lets say 20 Japanese (since the Americans wouldn't be there) guys from trials. Don't us as Sasuke fans want to see people make it deep in the competition? Even if it doesn't help the ratings in Japan, this is not a bad thing.
But I doubt TBS really has a problem with it. Maybe their viewers do. Then the only real problem with separating Ninja Warrior with ANW is them omitting the Americans completely from the Ninja Warrior broadcast. Especially since they sell the broadcasts to other countries. Am I correct?
Oh btw keep bashing G4, since it make you all feel so much better and it's so relevant. It won't change anything....
As for anything else I didn't reply to, I got the reaction I wanted. I'll be sure to bring this back up when the time is right. It's good fire power......

Especially since they sell the broadcasts to other countries. Am I correct? Yes you are correct. Which is why I was attempting to separate the argument over the excess of ANW competitors into Sasuke since that is another subject entirely. G4 is only compounding the problem by simply creating controversy by their own editing. I've long since come to terms that G4 will never change their 1/2 hour rehash of rehash format. That's not the issue. It's what they did with 23 and the original ANW that is the core of the subject. I would have thought that the uproar from the G4/NW faithful would have solve the issue.. but apparently so far it hasn't. I brought the question back to the person who writes twitter and he asked me "In a perfect world, how would you want the ANW Broadcast and NW26 Broadcast aired?" This is what I wrote: Personally? ANW stays in December as expected. Just the Sasuke competition with the ANW10 in March as you have it. Many prefer not having spoilers separate from the NW broadcast. There was an uproar in 23 because of the deleting of Americans. We strongly believe that the ANW10 qualified to be with the Sasuke 100. They should be shown with the other 90.. not apart. As for ANW. There is plenty of footage already (Prelims, semi's, and the one week of finals) to constitute a complete ANW. In NW23 broadcast confused a lot why Levi wasn't there when clearly he was but edited out. Better continuity if not deleted. I'm hoping they are at least listening. Only time will tell. As for your beef from the Japanese actually having their own opinions on wtf is on their television.. that's your own issue. So far they have made their presence loud and clear and no longer watch Sasuke. This is the reason why it's such in a precarious situation. Is it solely because of ANW? No. But that was a contributing factor that cannot be ignored despite your personal feelings on the subject.

I think it is important to note that it is but ONE factor in the declining ratings in Japan. It may not even play much of a role, but it is a Japanese show that needs Japanese viewers to survive, so who are we to suggest otherwise? Some people here just aren't thinking clearly - there is no G4 or ANW there only the TBS broadcast. IF TBS cared so much about G4, then they would have showed all 10 participants full runs and had more info on them etc. If we want SASUKE to survive, we need to look at the situation in Japan, not in the US. TBS gets $$$ from G4 so they can do their own thing with SASUKE in the US.

I wish I could state my opinion, but I can't cause it would take me hours. A petition should be made for G4 to air Nw26 with Americans in it. I really think doing that, spamming the crap out of the Ninja Warrior Forums and the Viewer Feedback forums will help change something. We are the fans, Ive SEEN G4 actually cater to their fans. Trust me, ITS POSSIBLE. If we show how we hate the distorded broadcast, and list reason after reason why its dumb, we can change it. But we don't have much time, so if someone reads this post and actually agrees, you better hurry up, start the petition, and spam it everywhere.

I wouldn't bother with petition but suggest emails. Being barraged with countless emails and posts speaks more than one piece of paper with names on it. And faster. And you get to speak your own mind.

*head explodes*
I agree with you, though. Petitions are nice and organized but a crazy amount of e-mails could have a greater effect. Twitter and Facebook too, since every company seems to be on there these days.

LOL I was thinking you'd bring that up Though in all honesty.. since there was no "timeline" for the DVD petition the petition worked for that purpose. And we got an answer. This is much shorter timeframe and I feel it's good for G4 to hear from their subscribers. I'm hoping the rumor that they have heard their fanbase before is true. So far I haven't seen anything on twitter or even Facebook about this so I figured people are just waiting for one person to "organize" and others jump on the bandwagon. I'm done doing that. It's exhausting leading the charge when others don't care anymore.

Who agrees that G4 should keep the damn thing together and not do the "I'm gonna show the Americans first then make viewers wait for almost two months before showing the rest" thing again.
