They do control what G4 does. If M9 says, "Hey G4, stop paying your contestants money or we will stop doing business with you." G4 will concede. It's as simple as that. Obviously M9 doesn't think anything G4 is doing is that big of a deal, otherwise they would've done something about it. And how do you know that M9 will actually try to control G4 to stop doing what's happening right now? Also, who has the upper hand here? G4, not M9. Let's backtrace before G4 acquired the rights for the show in America. Who paid M9 to broadcast the show in America? G4. Which company made negotiations with a show in Japan to send American contestants? G4. Who persuaded M9 into thinking that the foreign contestants should come through their local broadcasting stations? G4. If M9 doesn't say that they don't like what G4 is doing, they are just going to lose more money, and possibly support of SASUKE/NW from other countries around the world. The person with more money has the upper power, and in this case, it's certainly not M9 paying G4 to keep the show alive in America. Here's what I got from your post. M9 likes money. G4 is paying M9 money. So M9 is f'ing off their fans and taking the money G4 gives them. Like I said before, M9 isn't a little baby company here. They, and TBS can do whatever they like. I blame M9 for this just as much as I blame G4 for this. Actually I blame M9 more for this, it's their baby, and their just selling it away. Although, I don't they really are "Selling it away" I don't see this as a big deal really. But you guys do, and you guys never put any of the blame on M9, when in reality, their the ones that should fix anything G4 does, yet their constantly reluctant to do so. Really? I think it's the opposite. I think M9 makes G4 alot of money. M9, I think, gets a small paycheck from G4, but that's about it. Overall, in order for Sasuke to continue, they need to do well in Japan, not really anywhere else. That's called business. You make good business deals, you get a good result out of it. G4 made a good move when it came with SASUKE/NW, so they were able to get exclusive rights to the show and hold it since. Though, G4 making money through NW is out from M9's hands now, since G4 has the exclusive rights and they can do whatever they want with the rights. I'm not sure how much G4 pays M9 to keep the exclusive rights to SASUKE/NW outside of Japan, so I can't discuss it here. Right. So we can blame G4 for their given right to do whatever the hell they want to with Sasuke/NW, since they payed for the property. Or we can blame M9 for not holding any restrictions on G4. I love how we can blame G4 for every goddamn thing, and than we pat M9 on the back every 5 seconds.

You people act like anyone is going to win. And besides anyone who's doing it just for the money isn't going to make it to Japan, it's going to be the ones in strong physical shape who want the experience of defeating the SASUKE course. I mean have you seen Wipeout? Do you think any of them can pass the steps? Well of course no one's going to win immediately, like JP said, for myself (and others) it's not that it's being done, it's 1. the thought and 2. the amount. Plus, Wipeout and Sasuke are two different things. People see the two and immediately try to compare them, Wipeout got sued because of this. Wipeout's premise is self-explanatory, the title tells it all. With Sasuke, the only wipeouts that are intentially funny are the joke guys. Every other wipeout is taking seriously.

But you guys do, and you guys never put any of the blame on M9, when in reality, their the ones that should fix anything G4 does, yet their constantly reluctant to do so. I'm sorry, who doesn't like money? Let's face it; even the good companies nowadays need good support in order to keep their business running (for most part). I do not consider M9 as a small company (Hell, they opened up a new Muscle Park in Hokkaido). I think you still didn't get my point from my last post. If M9 says something about what G4's doing, then who's going to lose more money? Probably M9. Sure, G4 can go f-themselves for their foolish actions, but they still have other ways to attract fans and keep their viewers. M9? Not so much. Let's pretend that M9 does complain about G4's actions. G4's reaction? Given what they have done in the past, the response is going to be "Either we keep what we are doing right now, or we're pulling out of the whole deal, giving up our exclusive rights to the show." On that statement alone, M9 loses their most important client, internationally. Sure, someone else might pick up the show later for another international broadcasting rights. That's a possibility. But that is also not a guarantee. Like it or not, NW was the primary reason why many people started loving the show, not SASUKE. Us hardcore fans actually got a little deeper, and then started loving the original broadcast for few reasons (and thus the forums). G4 has done so much to increase awareness of SASUKE and NW across the nation, and helped spread the show internationally (in NW format). Screwing with G4 on this one can only cause chaos, unless M9 has a set plan. And if you don't think this as a big deal, you're mistaken. After seeing possible $250,000, along with free trip to Japan, do you think the people going are only going to be SASUKE fans? As proven through ANW, no. Anyone who has their eyes on the money, as well as free trip to Japan, will go for it. What does this cause? Allowing ignorant fools who care about money to compete in Japanese show that they absolutely do not know about; acting like a fool on the show (just like few ignorant G4 contestants in the past); and making relations between Japanese fans and G4 contestants even worse (do you really think that people chanted the name Levi in 25 because he cleared the stage? More like he never did a backflip throughout the course). P.S. If you still think this is not a big deal, then excellent. You're the minority. And that's how the world works; people have different opinions. Hell, isn't that the reason we are having this discussion in the first place?

Thanks Nova that's the perspective I'm thinking. Given the information I had even from as far back as even 2 years ago during Sasuke 21.. the M9 and TBS perspective is "you can't look a gift horse in the mouth".. M9 is hit hardest by this because I'm sure they weren't expecting this out of an American Company. The other stations who took on things like MXC and such took shows that were already off the air and didn't demand things from them. This is a show that's still on the air and they are trying to make Wipeout out of it. Hard part is.. there isn't anything to stop G4 from paying G4 sponsored people since it's American money to American Citizens. The perspective issue is what hurts BIG TIME because G4 doesn't give a flying F what happens to the rest of the competitors who could care less if G4 has ANW back in the Unites States of America. All they see is that an American is worth 10 times than them when they win.. given the history.. this is going to happen first.. this is going to be aaaaaaaawkward to say the least.

This doesn't bother me because G4 doesn't represent me as a person. When I go to Japan, I'm going to show the utmost kindness and respect to everybody I get the opportunity to meet.
Hopefully most of the people at Sasuke will understand that it's the American company that's stupid and not the Americans themselves.

Which means theres a chance those other 9 people are only there for the money and don't know anything about Sasuke or Japan or anything. So it still wouldn't make that much of a difference if you win and did show that much respect..

They do not represent me either. I don't have to identify with any of them if I don't want to. It's not who I is. I also disagree about it making a difference if I win. Let's say I win. Or David. Or Chris, etc.. The way we behave when we win will definitely set us apart from the people who are just in it for the money. Our speeches would involve something about how great of an honor it was to compete and win, whereas others' would be something like... "YEEEAAAAHHHHH I WIIINNNN SUCK ITTTT!"

The bad thing when it comes to competing in other nations, especially in not-so-diverse countries like Japan, is that they consider you as an American sent through G4, not as an individual.
I know that you're going to be more respectable than ____, but the sad truth is, in the beginning, you're going to get grouped up with other Americans regardless of your attitude (just another one of 10 Americans sent here to show off).
"They do not represent me either"
I know they don't, but the Japanese people might not think that way.
Changing their perspective after what happened in past few competitions... is not going to be easy. Does it mean that it's not worth trying? Hell no.

OK, I am going to throw my two cents on this b.s. overhere, to me that is wrong what g4 is doing they want to add $250,000 to the American who wins this thing, first of all how about people like Nagano and Takeda, who worked their candy a**es off just to be there and win it for the sake of the all-stars or yuuji and others, now it just got all greedy over this like the rest of the country (referring to the US). To me i could understand it and it is business as well...I am even surprised monster9 is on board with this as well...so I have no clue what to sign on for this case, but I just do not like I think some people will do it for the money. Now, my example (and I agree with Oti here), I will be just honored to complete and be in part of it (if I was in the show, which I never complete I will have to train and work out but I am a student and go to work a lot.) and what I will do with the money I will pay my school (college tuition and loans) out and give some to my family and give some to charity and church and stuff that I will do with it and live a normal life.

What if they just all-cut the Americans from the Japanese broadcast? Seriously, they are more than capable of pretending they don't exist... like not giving them numbers unless they pass Stage 1 and pretending something like G4's 23-esque charade of ANW1 occuring on a separate day?
I think several issues could be solved simply by editing choices by M9.
(1) The feeling of foreigners taking over Sasuke -- They didn't give all 10 american numbers in 23, and 5 of them only got a quick "look at these 5 time-ups in a row" FF montage.
(2) The $250,000 that G4 is offering, likely by proxy -- They don't have to mention this exists at all, and given their proven ability to edit out Olivia Munn, editing out any mention of this prize should be doable.
There's more, but I think I've made my point that G4's involvement can be marginalized in the Japanese broadcast through proper editing if M9 chooses to do so.

Thank you Captain Obvious, but G4 will just show them anyway. It honestly was wise to digest most of the runs. Some of the clears got digested as well. M9 likely won't make much mention of it, nor do they need to.

FF montage will happen if the Americans do poor at SASUKE. However, if they pass Stage 1, things might be different. I just hope Japanese competitors who clear stage one doesn't get FF'd. 2. Mention it or not, Japanese people will find out one way or another if they really hate the situation right now. Not mentioning it will block the further spread, but online forums are capable of making every single Americans as a*****es (and believe me, SMF is exact opposite of that for the most part). M9's broadcast depends on their free-will. They might include the Americans, they might not. Only time will tell. It doesn't really matter for G4 however as they can easily call up M9 to get professional tapings of American competitors and then edit it like they were shown on Japanese Television, full-time. But I don't see it solving out the current issues that we already have. Maybe stop the spread of hatred in Japan? Possibly. Revert the whole situation? Never going to happen.

I still disagree with the fact that we believe Sasuke is in the toilet partially because of some Americans. It has no effect on ratings. Period.

I still disagree with the fact that we believe Sasuke is in the toilet partially because of some Americans. It has no effect on ratings. Period. 2 cents from a South Korean boy who lived in South Korea for a while (and yes, South Korean and Japanese views are very similar in terms of foreign involvement, except few critical issues). America from our perspective was always the strongest country, and we always wanted to have good relations with them. This is working out fairly well. But we also want our freedom of speech. When America gets involved in something that's working out well in one of the countries and try to make it their own, even the smallest thing, we don't like it. It's a big f*** you to the company/show/country basically. You're sending 10 Americans from some another company who owns international rights because they think that's the way it is supposed to be done, aka stating that M9's previous method was horrible. You're giving the winner $250,000, which is partially implying to the people that Japan doesn't have enough money. Now, personal view. Why the hell would I watch a show made in our country but controlled by another country, such as America? We had a good show going on, but America intervenes yet again, this time in small matter such as SASUKE. Hell, if that's the direction that M9's going, then might as well stop watching the show and go find something more original, and something that doesn't involve America/Americans for that matter. (Next paragraph is, of course, from viewer's perspective. Note: Not all viewers are like this) We take pride in our country, and what we have done. If we have something set-up and if it is working out well, then we don't want it intervened. Just because America has the power and the money doesn't mean that they should change few formats here and there for their advantage. That's just not fair.

But I respect what your saying. I just don't think a japanese viewer will see an American try out on Sasuke and go "Change the channel" when the Japanese viewers seemed to like Levi and call him the "New Hero" or whatever. Overall, I just think we don't realize that were the only one's who care. Because we are. We are the only ones who care about G4's involvement in Sasuke. The rest of Japan and America? No idea. And that's alot of people.

Well.... given the fact that America is so powerful, I guess you don't even have the experience of some other country trying to control in every method possible to suck out everything from us. And that last sentence right there; you're just calling all of us a dumbass hardcore fans who's stepping into a region where they shouldn't be at. Thanks.

But that rises a question to themselves: is it really worth watching this in the future given that Americans were involved? Yeah sure, so they go watch "Pirates of the Caribbean". "We are the only ones who care about G4's involvement in Sasuke." Maybe so, but we're the only ones who care about the sake of the show, not just the $$$$. Yes, but we are "Worrying" about the wrong things. We don't need to worry that Sasuke's downfall is because of G4, because although G4 isn't the best company in the world, I don't think they're killing Sasuke. Ratings will kill Sasuke. G4? If anything, G4 has helped Sasuke it seems. I don't have concrete evidence, but with the ratings disaster of Sasuke 25, I think TBS knows that the show must go on with how it's doing internationally. I really wonder if TBS would've canceled the show had G4 never got the rights to Sasuke, and had Ninja Warrior became a success. Maybe it isn't true, but it's something to ponder at. And do you know what actual Japanese viewers think? No. Do I? No. Only Ube knows the truth. I was just speaking in lieu to South Koreans because they share many views together in terms of foreign involvement in their own country. Government loves it. Citizens? Not so much. I don't, but I have an idea since A. An American movie beat out a Japanese show B. Levi is called a "New Hero" (Although I don't know if thats TBS's BS or what) Well.... given the fact that America is so powerful, I guess you don't even have the experience of some other country trying to control in every method possible to suck out everything from us. Okay. And that last sentence right there; you're just calling all of us a dumbass hardcore fans who's stepping into a region where they shouldn't be at. Thanks. I think your just twisting my words there. I don't see anything at all offensive or condescending about that. It's just we know alot about Sasuke due to our deep interest in it. Other people don't have as deep in interest in it. So they don't care. Don't forget that it's a game show.
