Juice you seem to be forgetting that just about everything you said goes with "I don't know".. I have done the research and understanding how ratings work and given that M9 has canceled popular shows for various reasons doesn't help the situation. One thing is clear. If the target audience feels separated from the show (any show.. not just Sasuke) they will stop watching.. when that happens the ratings go down and when that happens they are no longer financially viable to keep continuing. You think M9 is continuing this if they can't make money? Get real this is a business. Right now they are going where the money is.. and that's G4. Given all that it makes perfect sense to get the program set up for G4 to take over and bring it to the USA where M9 can get a cut. It's obvious that Japan has given up on the show a couple years ago and especially recently. Overseas is where the money is and that's what M9 is hoping they can get their hands on. It's all about syndication at this point.

When did I ever say that they weren't in it for the money?
They are in it for the money, but it doesn't seem that way with the way ratings are.
And, like I said, I thought G4 has something to do with it, and from your post it seems I'm right.

G4's involvement in Sasuke is significant and the fans in Japan don't like it. That's the part you have a hard time wrapping your brain around. I'm saying M9 knows that and is willing to ignore it simply because they already know the ratings war is just about lost in Japan. They are setting it up for G4 right now so they can continue making money off of the new ANW franchise. That's the part that I'm sure we are going to have to agree to disagree with.

And YOU seem to have a hard time wrapping your brain around the fact that the minuscule populated Japanese Sasuke fanbase doesn't effect ratings. It's the giant godzilla sized casual market that controls and dictates the ratings and $$$$ making of Sasuke. These are the same people that DON'T read the blogs and don't know whats up with Sasuke like we do. That's what we seem to be disagreeing with. I do think it's smart of M9 to milk this ANW thing, at least until Sasuke can get back on it's feet ratings wise which hopefully is possible.

The part you are not understanding is that blogland is not "hardcore".. even people who aren't even Sasuke fans were talking about the dismal ratings and explaining why THEY didn't see it.. hardcore fans will continue watching.. it's the casual that reacted to the article back in March saying that Sasuke was dead.

I don't even know if you're trying to talk facts, or pulling stuff out of your a**.
"A. An American movie beat out a Japanese show
B. Levi is called a "New Hero" (Although I don't know if thats TBS's BS or what)"
A. Is that really intervening with something that Japan has done correctly? I mean do they really have a version of Japanese Pirates of Carribean that Americans topped it over? Get my point straight and then talk.
B. If Levi is called a "New Hero"... why wasn't anyone chanting for him in 22 and 23? Sure, they chanted for him in 25, but there was a reason. And unless you know that reason, buddy you're really far behind.

That seems to be "Intervening" to me, why wouldn't the Japanese viewers go "Why do we need an American movie, we have plenty of Japanese movies we could show"

So that point is moot.

I think that completley backs up your argument..

I'm not even going to try to moderate this discussion, if you all want a free for all, go for it...
Just don't start with personal attacks and it's fine.

Either understand what I'm saying, or this stupidity discussion is over Your point was that the Japanese people don't like it when American's "Intervene" in their stuff. A Japanese channel, playing American stuff is, to me, considered Intervening, and the fact that Japanese people are okay with watching that, pretty much tells me they don't hate or care for American's. Which they don't, in my simple observations. And if you think this response is "stupid" or this discussion, or whatever, than don't respond to it. How about you don't reply. You understand my opinion, I understand yours. I'm tired of your remarks. I thought it was intervening. A Japanese channel is playing an american movie. So that point is moot. That's America. I'm not talking about America. I'm talking about the JAPANESE television viewers and what they prefer.

Did they really have Japanese version of Pirates of Carribean?
Oh and I wasn't implying that the argument was stupid.

And their reasoning was because of the Americans? Yes. The show is losing it's roots and catering to the foreign crowd. That was the core of most of the arguments. Gone were the comedians, etc. etc. The rest of their argument was posted in the longwinded blog post called "State of Sasuke in Japan.

My thoughts on the $250,000 award for Kanzenseiha is that G4 is trying to draw the best they can of the American athlete type. The open trials made it more known so they didn't have to run through thousands of applicants. They want to find the best money hungry athlete and have them win it. Mainly to try and show Americans can beat the course just as easily. Levi was just the start...

My thoughts on the $250,000 award for Kanzenseiha is that G4 is trying to draw the best they can of the American athlete type. Okay, that's understandable, although money shouldn't be needed, at least not that much considering Akiyama, Nagano and Yuuji didn't get nearly that much. M9 deals with that every 6 months roughly and they announce theirs as well. They can get like 2000 and have to cut that down to like 40. G4 can handle that I would say, plus they announced appointment spots, open trial, and those with costumes, that can reach close to 1000 easily depending on who hears it. But G4 tends to announce things too close so many can't go just based on the fact they don't have the expenses. .....and this is where we have a problem. One, "money hungry" isn't the main focus of Sasuke AT ALL. It's why most of us have a problem with G4's prize in the first place. Plus, if you have ANY American representative who got in simply because "I want the money", they will be extremely disappointed when they realize beating Sasuke two tournaments after someone beat it is impossible. Maybe they can reach the Final Stage, but they have to press that button at the top, see the smoke and hear the cheers for it to get the money, and they have to pray that hell doesn't freeze over yet again and not only another American reaches the Final with him, but beats his time. Two, Kane Kosugi is the only American to clear the Third Stage, prior to Kane it was Travis Allen Schroeder (we call him TAS) and he didn't reach the end of the last obstacle. Not to take away the skill of any of the ANC/ANW guys but Brian and Levi are the only ones to touch the Third Stage and Levi only reached the halfway point. And these guys still had the main Japanese prize to go after. They don't need the $250,000 to prove the Americans can beat the course as easily as anyone else. Kane nearly did that almost 9 years ago. In rain.

The "talent" G4 is trying to draw most likely won't know about Sasuke, let alone some Japanese guys. That's why so much money is involved. They just want to draw skilled competitors.
I'm sure you've concluded this yourself. Just pointing it out. That's how it seems to me, at least. :/

That's how it seems to me, at least. :/ I have and I agree with you, but I find it sad they've gone to the "our guys aren't winning so let's add a hefty prize to it and see what happens" route. It adds even more to the "greedy American" stigma that we shouldn't promote. I know, it's G4 what do you expect, but at least don't add more fuel to the fire, business decision or not. It's one thing to be like some of the original ANW 10 and not know but find it cool to try it. It's an entirely different thing to have potentially at the least 1 guy in the ANW2 10 say "I'm doing it to get the cash". At this point I'm just asking why. I know you and many others do it because you love the show or some aspect of it. But why should money be one of the aspects? We all know, unless a Christmas miracle happens in Fall, the money won't be claimed on the first try if ever, and we all know $250,000 can give many people financial stability for a very long time if they use it correctly, I just don't approve of the slight chance someone's getting on the course for entirely different reasons than why you should.

I agree with you completely and all I can say is... It's G4. Why are we surprised? I listened to the executive producer talk to some semi-finalists during ANW2 and she promised big, great things for the finals of ANW2. They really, REALLY believe what they're doing is good for Sasuke and Ninja Warrior. They seriously are out of touch with everything Sasuke is and represents. It scares and angers me.

Well maybe the boot camp is better than we imagined and the only thing wrong with it was the fact it's a week after ANW meaning some people wouldn't be able to participate. Some good with the bad. But if it's like we all but know that it's out of touch, then I don't see G4 recovering in the eyes of most of us. I mean the bridge they built had problems with it, not too confident about what the boot camp looks like.
