Updated with link to upcoming Ninja Warrior merch. About time.. I'm tired of seeing the crappy t'shirts that fans have to jerry rig or worse.. buy from eBay because there's no official merchandise. Unless you count those "Ninjas Rule" shirt you got from NF4 but if someone goes through the effort going there I don't think they're selling it. I guess you could count the ANC shirts but those aren't for share and they're giving those up even less

1.) Tryout Videos are expected to start being accepted on April 10th. 2.) ANW format will be same as last time. Send in videos to hopefully get a guaranteed spot, but it's still Open Tryouts on a First-Come-First-Serve basis from there on out. www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=10150118550515232(Updated as more info is announced.) /facepalm... open tryouts.. I see G4 is still content with wanting to do Sasuke American Style even though that was the epic fail of ANW1 IMO... I just wish they stick to trials.. and not gawk after the pretty ladies falling in the water and the Freerunners hawking their wears..

It made the show a bit more entertaining...

The concept that they are trying to do an American Sasuke rather than concentrating on doing TRIALS with real athletes who train for this show... you know.. like Japan Trials where the contestants are actually good.. ANW spent too much time moving up people in the line simply because they were hawt or l33t looking instead of concentrating on promoting Trials.

Welcome to American consumerism, Arsenette.

Yes, the trials are being played off as if they're the competition themselves, but... so? At least it's still a trial for the people who train and want to go to Japan. G4's just messing up the delivery. Surprised? Not really. End of the world? Hardly. Yes, I wish they were more like trials, but at least we get a chance, finally. A REAL, FAIR chance. You don't really share our plight, Arsenette. You're not in-training like some of us. :/ Unclesam says otherwise and I trust his firsthand knowledge more than your... not firsthand knowledge. He says they stuck to the line for the most part, honoring those who sent videos, and only picked "interesting" people from the line toward the end.

Actually since I follow Japan Trials as closely as I can I do share your plight. With the open format there is a real chance ya'll won't get a chance to participate because they are trying to fill the "show" with non-essential characters to get the "Sasuke" feel as opposed to everyone in trials actually being competitive.. that means if you just showed up or worse.. didn't get picked because your video editing skills sucked.. you have a chance to be stopped from even trying with the list of people wanting to get on the course because it looks "uber cool yo!". I am not against having a fan fest and allowing 3000 people on it and have fun until the sun goes down.. what I am against is actually keeping talented athletes that might not have a flashy personality, great body or even a great video editing skills from actually getting a fair chance to compete at TRIALS. This is after that the reason we have this. If you don't get in ANW... you don't get on Sasuke.. it's as simple as that. So yes I'm frustrated with the process because it changed every single time. G4 is taking the cheap way out by not actually doing their homework and not doing what M9 does - actually pick the best of the best and have them go at it on a course.
Production-wise as well it's going to be lower (just like the last time..). Since it's a free for all.. there are no numbers. No time set. No suspense (because you don't know how many are actually going until they shut the line down). Rushed like hell since they have to shove as many people in that line as possible as opposed to a controlled pace with everyone knowing exactly when they are going and what number they will be in order. Most likely a couple days taping just for the first stage (so you get the unfair advantage again going to Tempest Freerunning dominating the 2nd day) while anyone in the first day is screwed like they were last time.

Your following everything that goes on is not the same as trying to get on the course. I don't think you really understand how we feel.
I think you're missing my point, though. They DIDN'T move interesting people ahead the entire time like you're making it out. They only did it toward the end. It could have been a lot worse. Give them SOME credit. You of all people should know by now that G4 isn't going to do anything perfectly.
Do the trials still need work? Yes, a lot. At least they're finally heading in the right direction, though.

I never said they are moving in the right direction in terms of having ANW again and tweaking the last event to a better one. I just disagree that doing ANW as an open tryout is good. Considering that a lot more people will be showing up to this one and the last one was approximately 350 people running the course.. you do the math.. it's going to be chaos with what I consider to be at least twice the amount from last time since THIS time they gave almost 2 (correction almost 4) months notice...

arsenette: You can send in a video for a guarenteed spot. No one who got a guaranteed spot was unable to run the course. No they have had a specific time they were supposed to run it, so occasionally I'm sure some people were moved up, but they all went eventually.

Still going to be a logistical nightmare with all those people.. with that much run up there's going to be a lot of people.. especially those who missed the first ANW.

If what you're both saying is true, it wont be an open tryout if so many people sign up early and get reserved spots there will be little or no time for the random walk ups who just see cameras and a possible prize.

Well some of the wording for this one sounds like they are going to be more "fan friendly" a loose translation of this might be that they will be setting up stands for people to watch. So let's see.. either way it's going to be chaos with that many people and something is going to fall through the cracks. There's a hell of a lot more people who know about ANW this time and are vowing revenge on the first ANW for failing or revenging the fact that they didn't run it (for various reasons).

I know that they have the 21+ age requirement, but 21 by which date?

I would imagine it would be 21 by the time of taping. That's how every event does it, at least most of the time, maybe they'll be lenient, of course that depends on who you're talking to at the time, and their mood as well.
