Spawned off the VG music topic, I just thought we could have one we're we'd talk about our favorites and such.
My first game ever was Sonic 2 for the Sega Genesis
My first console that I owned was a Sega Genesis
My favorite console of all tme is the ps2
I love RPG's more than ay other type of game, but I don't have much time to play them (They take too long!)
My favorite games of all time are of course the stereotypical ones that EVERYONE knows and loves. (Not in order)
1. Sonic 2 2. Kingdom Hearts 2 3. Final Fantasy 7 4. Final Fantasy Tactics 5. Devil May Cry 3 6. DrakenGard 7. Sonic Adventure 8. Everquest (The original) 9. Halo 3 10. Dig-Dug
It was pretty hard to think of a list actually... although I play a TON of games there's very few that I REALLY get into. I'm pretty critical when it comes to games, even though I still play them if they suck, it doens't mean it was the most enjoyable experience in the world.
The wierd list could be due to the fact I had few games for the Genesis, and the ones I did have sucked except for sonic of course. I owned an N64 but really late in life and the only memorable experiences were Jet-force Gemini, Star Fox 64, and Mario 64. I had my playstation for a long time and loved it, but there were no games that really took me in. I had a lot of fun playing spyro and crash bandicoot and what not, but none of them were that amazing, and of course as a kid I wasn't critical about the lame stories. Then I had a dreamcast which was a failed system and didn't have many games, but Sonic Adventure was amazing and it's one saving grace. I had the ps2 since it's release and I loved it (Still do) so most of my games are probably from there. I have the newer systems but I just don't have much fun on them... I wouldn't say I'm much into old school gmaing, but at least the games on PS2 worried more about a good story then better grapics, which nowadays means making the games EXTREMELY bright.

I love RPG's because they take so long I love stories and what better way to say a story than do it interactively! I started with Suikoden and FF7 and worked my way backwards and incorporated new ones obviously. I'm also a completist.. so it's painful sometimes but it's not uncommon for me to log 100+ hours in a good RPG. I also don't go OCD on them.. I only take a couple hours a night to do them not spend 10 days of 15 hours days like I did in my youth. It's all about time management (in no order) RPG's Suikoden series Final Fantasy Series Oblivion (I call it an action RPG) Everquest 2 (played for 3 years) Final Fantasy XI (played for 3 years. took a break and started up again this spring). Mass Effect (Trust me this list is long LOL) Puzzle games Super Puzzle Fighter Puzzle Quest Hexic Tetris (original.. I hate the updated crap) Electronic board games Catan Uno (yes I have it on the Xbox lmao) Monopoly Scrabble (because my husband hates playing against me when I connect Trampoline to Aquatic using 2 Triple word blocks totaling well over 100 points...) LOL As you can see it varies a lot. I get motion sickness from a lot of games.. Includes Portal (awesome game though) since it reminds me of the old game called Descent. Being a chick of course I change my mood a lot so my gaming style goes there. I used to play fighting games (Tobal 2 is still my favorite of all time) but these days I prefer something with a storyline. I don't like horror.. at all so a lot of the games these days are a pain in the nards. Even hubby's favorite Fall Out 3 I can't play because it's gross. AWESOME game but I'm just a wuss.

I always feel so bummed out when talking about favorite video games because I always enter into a new generation so late or when the system doesn't produce enough. The first system my family had was the NES and while we had a decent number of games, in retrospect, they weren't all that good (Who Framed Roger Rabbit? leaps to mind). Then we got a Genesis and aside from Sonic, FIFA soccer, and maybe a few stray others, a bunch of clunkers.
I eventually got a PS1 about three years into its run. Never got anything that would be called classics, but South Park: The Game and a few others kept me entertained.
Then I FINALLY got a PS2...in January of last year just as the PS3 lineup was starting to pick up. The reason I got a PS2 was so I could get Bully. That and Dragon Quest VIII were the first two games I ever got for the machine and I LOVE them. Flash forward nearly two years and I've got a PS2 lineup that X-Play reviewers would be proud of. Quite a few games that Adam and Morgan gave 5 stars to and a few others that X-Play didn't like so much but I love so screw them.
I get depressed though because there are so many games for the 360 and PS3 that I want to get so desperately. Looking at how things are, my next step is probably going to be a PS3 in a year or so. With BioShock on it now, all of the games I would want to play (outside of Mass Effect) are going to be on it.
That said, here's my list (in no particular order):
Dragon Quest VIII Rogue Galaxy Final Fantasy series (PS2 games outside of XI) Bully Kingdom Hearts series (I prefer 2 though) Guitar Hero series (so pissed off when the release of the full band set for PS2 was pushed back) Pokemon series (still the best Plane/Car ride killers ever invented) The Sims series both computer and Bustin' Out for PS2/GBA (the appeal of playing God) Spyro the Dragon original trilogy for PS1 (Ripto's Rage was probably the best)
I seem to have a slant towards RPG's, don't I?
Games I want to play but can't due to technology limitations:
BioShock The Orange Box Mass Effect Oblivion Fallout 3 Mirror's Edge Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Battlefield: Bad Company
There are plenty of others that I can't think of right now, mostly because the pain of desire is so great....

Don't exactly have a list of my favorite games. But I'm sure people here are interested in Mirrors Edge.
Although I screwed myself by putting good games on my Xmas list meaning I can't buy them because I don't know if I'm going to get them XD >_<

If you have a decent machine, you can get Bioshock, The Orange Box, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and BF:BC on PC. I just started Fallout 3, not really my kind of game (first person open ended RPG) but it's kept me interested so far. I've played Mirror's Edge, the running is fairly intuitive and fun to put together, but the demo doesn't give much of an impression of the full game. I'm not sure if I'll be getting it. I used to be very into RPGs, but my tastes changed when I went off gaming for an extended period of time. I tend to prefer more twitch action games now, and old school 2D platformers. I still love the old Final Fantasy games but don't have much patience for RPGs outside of those I've already played... I couldn't stand FFXII. Other than that, the Metal Gear Solid series owns my soul. I have a PS3 but not many games for it, mainly because I got it recently but haven't brought it to uni, so I only play it when I'm at home. Freeware games, emulators and flagrant piracy keep me happy for now. Besides, I could easily live without the new gen of games. Gaming hasn't come as far as people think it has, just the presentation. My biggest gaming addiction is the Pro Evolution Soccer series. Excellent freeware games to check out: Cave Story La Mulana Obake Nikujin Within A Deep Forest I Wanna Be The Guy (if you're a masochist)

I'm more of a fighting game enthusiast (well not really into the competitive scene but like watching matches ) It's fun seeing characters beat the crap out of each other with fireballs, throws, supers, fatalities etc you name it. Personal interests of mine are Street Fighter and Capcom's Vs games, King of Fighters, and Tekken.

The last fighting game I played was Super Smash Brothers Brawl actually, unless you count that store demo I played of Soul Caliber 4, I don't play fighting games too often though, I find them too easy actually, then again, this is coming from someone who beat the first 2 Megaman games and think they were easy

I have an ISO of FF7 (Well, 3 ISOs, one for each disk), but haven't been playing it much, is it worth it to make time to play it?

Considering how it's one of the most popular video games of all time, yes.
I loved it, and it's over a decade old.

Mega Man? Yeah, who can't resist the Blue Bomber? My favs are Mega Man 2, 8(please don't flame me MM fans!) and the X series (1-5) Two of my favorite Mega Man series. Zero and ZX are alright, Legends looks interesting, BN/Starforce I don't particualy like. PS: Haven't played Mega Man 3-6 so I have yet to see which one of those are my favorites...... Mega Man 1 is a pretty hard game! Can't even get past Cutman's level so I don't know about this game either.....

Actually 1 and 2 are the only ones I've played all the way through, I had a ROM of Battle Network 1 but there was a problem with it (I couldn't get the pass or whatever it was even though I had enough cards) so I deleted that ROM and haven't found a new one, and I've also got a ROM of Starforce 1 but haven't played it much.

I always found Mega Man brutally hard, and not in a fun sense, just in a way that discouraged me from playing further. There are lots of brutally hard games that just make me want to keep playing. Devil May Cry 3 is one. I Wanna Be The Guy is, too, but everyone's first playthrough of that is pure hell. Seriously, you have not experienced gaming hell until you try to beat this game.

I Wanna Be The Guy.
See first minute or so of this for reference: (NSFW language, lol)
Yes, it does this to everyone. No exceptions.
Also, have you played the original Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES?
