Hey guys. Chris K. here with some normal news. Ready? img149.imageshack.us/img149/2170/wipeoutseason4.jpgLooks like Mystic Arts is getting ready for a fourth season of wipeout and once again, I'm going to give it my best shot to apply for this show. It's hard to source this because I can't give a direct link but I can tell you how to get to this. 1> Log into mystic arts 2> On the left side, you should see "new applications".

That would be my dream. I could actually see myself getting to the Wipeout Zone and possibly winning. And I can be wacky enough or flirt with Jill or whatever they would need.

If 17 is too young then there's no way I can enter... Reality shows are almost always 18 (as with many things in the US). For some odd reason, when you pass that threshold, you're automatically mature enough

I know the UK version Total Wipeout people have to be over 18. Our auditions were simply a case of swallow your pride and go make an idiot of yourself. ;D Can't begin to say how much fun the course was, but the red balls seem tiny when you are on them....... and slipping off the 4th ball is so annoying.... can't repeat what i said when i fell in

It's usually open only to californian residence. I'm not flying from Texas to Cali for an audition. My wife won't let me

Didn't they already have casting? That's when Ryoga and a few others that posted on the G4 boards were pissed at how they picked fat guys with no hope of passing and passed them on because they weren't flamboyant enough?

The first like 2 were Californians only but it recently changed. However if you go to a casting call instead of just sending an email or mail application you have a much better chance because it's easier to show off your personality. Hell, they didn't even acknowledge they received my application. Arsenette: The application process for the next season (whichever season it's on) was open till late October.

Ah gotcha. If you are really interested trying calling or bugging them in email. They seem to like persistent people.

Ah gotcha. If you are really interested trying calling or bugging them in email. They seem to like persistent people. Excuse the expression, but you have to w**** yourself out if you want a chance. For some reason, they seem to want contestants with nearly boderline psychological disorders who will wipeout the most spectacularly... if it's really worth it to you, it's a necessity that you act like a loon during the interview and don't advertise your physical strength/ability. They don't want a runaway victor, they count on the ditzy blonds and fat men making it to the end.

That was the more unfortunate truths about Wipeout that a lot of people came in contact this year when trying out for this show. Many people who were fans of the show are slowly walking away from it because of the tryout process.

Nah, if you do, you'll just get Kobayashi'd, cut without even a mention. They'll probably just lie to you about the time, anyway.

Get to the Wipeout Zone and they'll have to show you... Then if they don't let you because you're too good sue them for fraud.. Either way you're walking away with at least $50,000

They never put just the fittest ones onto each show. Usually each episode will have a couple fit ones, then a lot of everyday people and a couple larger people. It's all about how entertaining these ones will look on camera.
Im not sure what tests are done at usa auditions, but in the uk we had longarm hanging chin-up's (5-7 sec pause between each chin), mini assault course then 60sec on camera to sell yourself to producers. Everyone was encouraged to dress up a bit as well. Quite a few didn't manage any chin-up's at all but still got on. I only did 12 that day while my mate did 15 yet he didn't get a call back. I heard of someone else managing 30 but didn't get called. The point of the tests is only to work out what fitness catagory you fall into. The real selling point is how you are on camera. Even the aerobics warm up they had us all do was being filmed then as we were called one by one to do this mini obstacle course we had to do a mock interview where they used a drinks bottle as a mic prop, then you get told to run up to camera to do your shout out, run the course then back to camera to do your final shout out.
Basically you need to stand out from the others. Pick a theme then try keep all your shout outs and anything else you say tied to that theme. So that they look at you and think "ah yes he/she is the ............."
If you want an idea of what they want then pay close attention to each interview that Jill does on the show and how each contestant replies to each question thrown at them.
In my sport (rowing) i also commentate at some races so i turned up at audition wearing my rowing outfit and a headset mic. Right away they identified me as 'the commentator'..... and then asked me to run the assault course giving a commentary as i went along. It helped as no one else did this at the audition.
Although they ended up not mentioning the Commentating stuff in the final edit it didn't matter as it helped get me picked. They focused on the rowing instead.
It's a strange course in that being the fittest doesnt guarantee the fastest times clocked then you can have ones who have never gone to the gym in their life who will sail thru to the final.
The qualifier isn't tiring and it's sometimes faster to just fall off everything and have a fast recovery onto the next obstacle. The Wipeout Zone wasn't tiring either. It was more a case of trying not to make a major mistake. In our Champion Of Champions show the guy who won it never completed a single obstacle in the qualifier yet he still did it in 1:22 yet there was another guy who cleared everything except the balls and was nearly a minute slower.
We have had Olympic 400m runners on our course and they've said it's the toughest thing they ever did. In fact in our last celeb show the wipeout zone had 2 olympic athletes and a radio dj, and the dj clocked the fastest time.
