Since there seems to be a growing consensus that G4 is ruining Western Civilization as we know it I might as well ask. My interpretation of these answers are as follows: Dubbed-akin to how ESPN showed Viking (whatever happened to Jack Edwards, anyway) Subtitled-akin to how Ninja Warrior first aired (before the reddish tone graphics and the FOX football guy doing the opening), with maybe even less Dave Wittenberg Raw-pretty much the original content with little to no translation of anything. My choice is dubbed provided you treat it more as a competitive event and not 100 people falling down. As much as I like Japanese, I prefer to hear my native language. Oh, and none of the selections would involve the original music, because international licensing isn't cheap.

I like how JET TV does it.. THAT is my prefered.. just subtitle it down the bottom and don't mess with perfection If G4 wanted to change the opening and put that stupid Ninja Warrior crap on it so be it.. JET has their own opening and closing. They just don't mess with the actual content.. because *gasps* people might actually like the show.

I'd prefer to see it originally but with english subs, but that unfortunatly can't happen. Think of the JET broadcast only with english subs instead of the subs they have

I would say subbed, but I always preferred the English dubbed version of the G4 broadcast to the original G4 broadcast. As long as you have a good commentator it works well. There's nothing wrong with the format, I just wish less was cut.

I prefer dubbed myself for the exact same reasons joe stated. They feel more personal when i can attach a voice i can understand on them.

Quick aside, here's what happened to Jack Edwards (ESPN's lead play-by-play for Viking):

I much prefer subtitled. That way I can hear the language, even if the subtitles are just -rough- translations.
(And the irony is, slightly OT, I enjoy playing the Soul Calibur video game series in English!)

Definitely raw but maybe subtitles couldn't hurt

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I like the way G4 originally presented Ninja Warrior way back in 2006. I think it is the best version of the three.

Subtitles with slight changes
Raw is cool, but I like knowing what they say

I agree with an earlier post about the JET TV version. If there was a JET version with English subtitles, then that would rock the house. Otherwise, the JET versions are great for me.

At first I thought I would choose subtitles and graphical changes, but f*** that.. why would I stray from original material?
Anyways, I do wish there are subtitles sometimes so I can know what a competitor is saying (I don't care much for what the screaming commentator actually implies though) so I do want subtitles. However I don't want graphical changes. But just subtitles wasn't an option in this poll. So.. I'm raw mofo... raw.

Back in 2006, The status bar was horizontal and at the top left of the screen, it was easier to see through and when some one failed, the square of the obstacle they were on turned red. The clock was also a big black square that covered the TBS clock. No giant red shape thing for the G4 logo.

Wasn't there also a different logo? one that was less stupid?

And if I'm not mistaken, was Sasuke 15 the first one shown on G4 (and not Sasuke 2)? If so, that was a pretty random choice...

G4 only had 15,16, and 17 when Ninja Warrior first started. And I do like the old logo better. www.g4rewind.com/2005/12/Also, the intro was shorter and better and there wasn't any Ninja Killer/ warrior wipe out, so they had a little bit more content in each episode.

Didn't they also have some replays left in japanese subbed?
I caught an original Ninja Warrior episode once because something was going wrong on G4 and they put an old version of Sasuke 15 instead of the one they were supposed to show (I never caught the old ones except for that and never knew there was an older one of it).
And your link isn't working.

Yes and No. 15 and 16 featured Subbed replays, but for 17, Dave Wittenberg took over the replays. It sounded like he was just reading the translation of the replays directly.
