Hey when I watched 23 I remember there was this bit where Takeda and Nagano had a running race. I remember them doing it before (When I think Takeda won) I didn't look closely enough to see who won this time around though. Does anybody know?

These things are kinda hard to gauge.. it's clearly set up for the TV viewers.. in fact Takeda always starts running well before Nagano even starts.. it's like he's intent on beating his friend every time he gets a chance He wasn't expecting Nagano to take it as seriously as he did this time I'm sure though. Was fun to watch

Nagano and Takeda raced in the parking lot in Sasuke 15, too. I dunno who won.

from the video in sasuke 23, Takeda showed a faster stride rate, bigger stride, higher knee lift, better form ( his upper body was moving in a straight line unlike Nagano who was rocking sideways ). Takeda would have probably won in a real race but Takeda seems to ease up at the end & allow Nagano to catch up. Even though Takeda seem very competitive at the start, he seem happy to let Nagano "catch up" when he knew in his heart that he would have won. It is a friendly race after all

thank you for those pictures on your blog arsenette! it would seem takeda was the faster man. But I think if both were trying their hardest Nagano would come out on top. Didn't he get a better time than Takeda when they had to all run to decide their numbers in sasuke 18?

Takeda didn't race in the race before SASUKE 18, thus he had no number.

Famas, i believe sasuke 18 's race was over 1200m. That will be a middle distance race testing both anaerobic & aerobic endurance. It will be very different from the outright speed race that Takeda & Nagano had ( probably over just 60m-70m approximately ). Different kind of running. I apologize for being a jerk & nit-picking over such boring details.

Wow, didn't Takeda say something like "I do this kind of training everyday, so a run like this is nothing for me"
Does that mean they did the interview without him even doing the run? lol.

Takeda showed up late at 18? I thought Shingo was the one who was always late.

I don't think they expected to run that day at all so they showed up whenever and some were caught offguard.. As for Shingo.. (ahahahhaha) yeah he's epic with his latenesses though lately.. he's been showing up early!! And of course messes up every line up picture.. LOL!!

It doesn't really surprise me that Shingo is sometimes late. Can you imagine trying to get out of Tokyo in morning traffic? Maybe the last couple of times he's left early to beat the traffic.

Yeah it's sad he doesn't get the time off from work like the other All-Stars do. He's usually in and out the same day while the others have hotel rooms booked for them.

I could've sworn he was like in the mid 80's and Nagano was something like 96 but I guess not. I suppose they let him compete anyway due to his All-star status. Why was he late? Was it to do with the fact he was going to retire after 17?

The race was to determine numbers not entry to the competition. And to my knowledge no one knew about the footrace at all. Considering that Takeda and Sato both knew they would be placed high from previous competitions it was normal for them to come a little later. Remember this sucker was like 10 am.. so even if they came at 10:30 everyone was already running.. it's not like they strolled in at 2 pm. As for Nagano... he picked an earlier number and was forced to repick by TBS who wasn't having any of that LOL
