Arsenette, i saw a clip that showed Nagasaki & Nagano completing the race together & Nagasaki picked #97 first followed by Nagano's #96... so you mean to say that was just a show for the cameras??? Hey! you sure have lots of "inside info"!

Hey! you sure have lots of "inside info"! LOL And since when aren't things set up for cameras? LOL!! But yes.. I forgot what number it was he actually took but they all glared at him and told him "put it back and pick something else". He ran slow on purpose hoping the ones that WANTED high numbers took them. He didn't want anything to do with high numbers.. he already had the pressure of coming in as reigning champion but he tweaked his ankle so he wasn't 100% and didn't want that extra pressure of waiting...

I didn't know about the ankle, and didn't notice anything strange during his run.

I don't think they were really racing for real, I think they were warming up for their runs

Nagano was extremely slow during the run. At one point, I believe they said he was 50th in the race, way behind Yamada.
Plus, it did always seem odd that 96 was left alone when most of the other numbers in the 80s and 90s were taken.

LOL I have a mental picture of someone from TBS going "NOOOOOOO don't touch that" everytime a competitor wanted a high number.. LOL!! As for his ankle it was tweaked but not enough for him to miss the competition. I'm sure it was uncomfortable for him but again.. not enough to make him stop. I'm sure he was just jogging to get it over with and was hoping he did what Tadeda did and miss the race LOL!!

Quote :"LOL I have a mental picture of someone from TBS going "NOOOOOOO don't touch that" everytime a competitor wanted a high number"...hahaha...if it was true, doing that simply defeats the purpose of having the race in the 1st place! TBS were probably pissed deeply...

Very very interesting! Now here is my next question, (I fear this may sound like a stupid question). Did all 100 race at the same time during 18's race or did they just do it seperately and compare the final times?

Whoever was there ran at that time. There were no additional races if that's the question you are asking?

I mean did all the competitors who were racing race all simultaneously? Or did they all do like a time trial for example, Yamada runs on his own, finishes, then Shingo runs, finishes, then Nagano etc. until everyone finished and then compare their final times?
I dunno if that made any sense lol

I assume you missed the behind the scenes special. It was one glut of racers simultaneously. Sorry.. just thought everyone saw that video.

yes i remember the army guy coming first, (I also remember him not picking 100 lol I would've!) but I don't ever remember seeing that lol. I could see Lee Enchi shown a fair bit in that video lol, seeing as he is Taiwan's rep after all.

The JET broadcast that we have if you know where to look, the very beginning of it has the race.
EDIT: Also, You do notice Shiratori was standing there and when Nagano got there he pointed at the #96 for Nagano, I guess he was watching it for him.

wow that's a pretty cool video, I didn't see that too. Wish they did things like that here. Well G4 tries to give a behind the scenes thing for Sasuke (and for 18 with the one that was actually a NW episode was actually good but it was only a half hour, so it was kind of like a mini-navi, Inside Ninja Warrior was decent because it let people who didn't really know get to know more about Sasuke but it was more of a Zach Selwyn at a Ninja and Samurai school rather than being about the course. With 19 through 22 they've done a 1 hour pre-show but those showed more of the ANC than anything else really, you get to see how their people got there, a little bit of them in japan (which is mostly Muscle Park runs which G4 skipped for 22 (even though David went anyways)) and then the day-of stuff but not much else. Lets hope for Sasuke 23 since ANW is it's own series and for Sasuke 24 since theres no ANC5-6/ANW2 they get the chance to show more of before Sasuke.
