Yes! This is my second favourite Monster9 show. I'll definetely be catching it. Just out of interest, do they do the same events every year? Or do they just keep the staples like Monster Box and Shotgun Touch?

Ube would know better than me. There are some staples that they keep (Lord knows as long as Iketani is alive they will always have a Monster Box.. then again.. the Monster box is part of the Monster 9 company Logo.. so I doubt it will never go away ). There have been changes I know for sure but as for what is considered staples and what changes around .. Ube would know better. He's seen more than I have and knows more of the general history. The 2009 competition was the first one I've seen ever and before that I only saw clips on YouTube.

Off the top of my head, these events have stayed for the last couple of years: Monster Box Shotgun Touch Tail Impossible Spin-Off Power Force Beach Flags
In 2009 they dropped Workout/Burnout Guys for some reason. That was usually the opening event. They also didn't have a number event.
The Gallon Throw goes from a regular event to a special event to a regular event all the time.
Geinojin Sportsman used to change events all the time although Monster Box and Shotgun Touch were usually there.

Ok, thanks a lot. The other question I had was in terms of the points system. I've gathered that you get different amounts of points in Shotgun Touch depending on your best distance, but apart from that I can't figure it out. Is it simply 1st place gets 100 points, 2nd 90, 3rd 80 and so on?

It's different point system for each game. I know monster box you just keep getting points for every new height you clear, not by being first or second. It also gives hella points, which is why Iketani is always near the top.

Reminds me of the NCAA who is clearly against weekend championships. Think about it, the basketball championship is on a Tuesday, lacrosse is on a Monday (granted it is Memorial Day), and the football game (note I said game, not championship) is usually on a Wednesday or Thursday. And if I recall the other events are on random days as well, although there are some that fall on a Friday which is much kinder.

Alright well...according to a Masaki Nomura link that arsenette pointed out to me it looks like maybe he'll be there but...it's going to be a Monster Box only special I think. And according to the M9 link there will be something like 50 competitors.

Monster Box only? That sucks, Monster Box is my least favourite event, plus if Iketani is there, what's the point?

That's cool Nomura is doing something though. I think this is their way of getting back some celebrities since they haven't done a Celebrity version in 2 years.

At this point we don't know. It's harder to figure out who's going for a competition like Sporstman and moreso now because of the format. I'm monitoring Miyazaki's blog carefully. He's mentioning coming back to Japan but doesn't say when. He's coming back from an injury that sidelined him for a few weeks and is starting to play games again in limited capacity. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the format to allow him to recover for next year. Plus get the added bonus of seeing old Sporstman competitions we've never seen. I'll post here if I hear anything.

Between this and SASUKE 24, I'm really starting to wonder if Monster9 is considering getting out of television.
