I think the 1 year thing was about not being in any other reality show related to Sasuke, such as wipeout and cant think of any others. Would of been nice to get a copy of that small book they made us sign off on. So I think we can talk about it once its done airing in December.

The fact that its taking them till December to air it is crazy, when we'll find out at the least half of who won when Sasuke airs. The 'no similar shows for one year' makes sense, but when the top prize of Wipeout is more than winning Sasuke does it matter much?

It does make more sense for it to be a NDA until it airs though lol.

Isn't there a ~$40,000 prize?

Isn't there a ~$40,000 prize? There's money for the grand champion, but it's not really why they compete. I think it's 4 million yen ($43,141.10 in today's falling USD) but only two people have ever won it in 11 years. Still, the competitors show up in droves.

Total money won on Wipeout - around $1,000,000 Total money won on SASUKE - around $30,000
See? SASUKE is not about the money.

Point taken. You only have to see the level of camaraderie that goes on in SASUKE to know that the prize money isn't why people compete. Plus the amount of time that serious contenders spend training for the course would really negate any financial incentive.
Still, there are people whose occupations/hobbies are training enough (e.g. parkour) for whom $43k would be pretty nice.

Speaking of the Sasuke prize money, I've always thought it was funny that the grand prize on sasuke was the same as the Kinniku Banzuke sport target events.
Really, what's harder: completeing a nearly impossible 4 stage obstacle course or kicking 9 soccer balls at huge targets?!

sauske by a lil. i mean the sports challenges are f***ing hard! and the pize money doubles every win so 1-4 was ¥1,000,000 5-17 was ¥ 2,000,000 18- is ¥ 4,000,000

Actually the NDA only lasts 'till it airs in december. That's perfect timing, actually. We can spend October and November rehashing Sasuke 23 and arguing endlessly over the obstacles we didn't get to see, whose predictions came true, and in my case...what they wore By the time we're exhausted from all that, NW will air. We'll pi$$ and moan about G4's broadcast for awhile: what they left out, who they concentrated on, the order in which they showed competitors, blahblahblah. By that time you guys will be out from under the NDA's, and will fill us in on behind-the-scenes stuff, thus prolonging the Sasuke afterglow for MONTHS~! Not for nothin', but I wonder how many competitors will be wearing Yuugi's lavender little girl shoes this time?

I love this one comment on the post: "NINJA WARRIOR! A greatly entertaining show, thats for sure. Leave it to Japan to take their love of platforming video games and bring it to reality."
