Only negative thing I've ever heard about him before this news broke out is him coming off a bit too cocky at times. Hearing him being rude to production is new to me considering how hard they've pushed him as the face of the show and for him to win especially with the introduction of the safety passes. Would be interesting to hear all the other shady moments he's done to others.

I'm honestly pretty shocked April knew of one of the encounters, let alone was 15 when this all started. This opens a whole other can of worms. I don't doubt she's kept quiet for her own reasons (who can blame her? Wouldn't you?), but now I'm pretty certain Drew's going to jail after this. I feel even worse for the boy, now he's gotta grow up not only knowing dad was a predator, but mom was one of his victims. Since the criminal complaint didn't go into this detail, I guess I can say now that the first document posted nearly 3 weeks in which government denied his bail motion, noted that Drew and victim 1 had a sexual encounter at his home while April was there which is very creepy to think about.
Everything else I read seemed to allude to the fact that he kept this hidden from everyone including her. Maybe she did know about that one encounter (i dont see how he would be able to hide it if April was right there), but personally I believe whether or not she knew is her own business, and we shouldn't confide into that. It is pretty scary knowing that Drew's predatory behavior was likely going on ever since he started competing, not just from 2014/15 onwards. Seems like we're gonna be waiting for a while just for a trial to begin (let alone a verdict) regardless of the Speedy Trial Act. Oh boy...

I was waiting until today to see what the hearing was about. It turned out to be a detention hearing again. The first document pretty much showed that Drew hasn't provided any sufficient evidence in regards to him not being at risk to society if released. Even with the safe April bought and the GPS tracking device Drew proposed they would use on him for monitoring, the evidence surmounting against him is too strong and of course the nature of his crimes/his manipulation. The 2nd doc was the 3rd continuation of the detention hearing order which was denied, but unlike the previous hearings, it didn't allude to a date for the next hearing. It just stated that he will remain at Essex County Correctional Facility.
Maybe the hearings are over, and now they're trying to pick a date for trial while he remains in custody? I'm not sure how this all works at this point so if someone could go into detail what happens now that would be appreciated. I was also wondering if anyone knows what a detention hearing even is and how it differs from a bond hearing if they could explain it to me. I'm also curious on why they had multiple hearings which was noted as "Continuation of Bail/Detention Hearing", I'm guessing for crimes like these that's normal?

He was. They had his bail hearing through Zoom which lasted for just over an hour, and he was denied bail and is now "remanded to the custody of Essex County Correctional Facility." He now has a detention hearing on Friday at 1:30 EST Hmm.. Seems the bond hearing was already done? My bad. When I read how his bail hearing went, the date was set for September 17th for his next hearing which I thought was today, but it was yesterday. April, her mom, and Drew's mom were sworn in for Drew through zoom, and he was still ordered to be remanded at the Essex County (they denied his motion once again), and his next hearing is now on Tuesday, Sept 22nd at 2 PM. Also, in a document posted yesterday by one of his defense team members, it stated, "the government proffered that it had identified a number of other victims. When pressed, it later clarified that 2-3 other victims are identified on the electronic media retrieved during the search of Mr. Drechsel’s home. Finally, when the Court asked the government to commit, the government proffered that it has in its possession evidence of two other potential victims. The government offered no other details except that the circumstances that make them “victims” is both age and consent, and the time frame involved is somewhere between 2010 and 2018. Nothing else was proffered." These were "very vague allegations made by the government" according to his defense which he then recalled Special Agent Quinn (person who sealed + published the criminal complaint) stating that they found "possible minor victims" on his phone as well but nothing else. They haven't identified these possible victims yet, and reading later down the document, it seems to me that those charges in California and Maryland are related to victim 1 since he hasn't been charged for anything else as of right now.

Yeah. Yesterday sucked for him big time. So he's back in custody after failing the request for release due to COVID? It just looks weird to see him arrested again while in court. Did it show he was present for the hearing? He was. They had his bail hearing through Zoom which lasted for just over an hour, and he was denied bail and is now "remanded to the custody of Essex County Correctional Facility." He now has a detention hearing on Friday at 1:30 EST

The more this goes down the rabbit hole, the worse it's looking. I'm scared to see what all happens long term in what we find out on him. I seriously hope the other charges are just porn charges from victim 1 received while in those states. I really hope there's not other victims. But if he's willing to cross the line for one child I don't see why he wouldn't for another child. I fear he was a serial child predator. It just terrifies me that he was a coach on ANW Junior. I pray nothing happened from that. Based on the criminal complaint, it was noted that during one of their skype encounters, drew was in san jose, california so maybe its possible that hes being charged for engaging in online sexual communications with a minor in that area because that was one of the locations he was at while those calls occurred. It doesn't explain the Maryland charges though....

Thank you so much for this! That filing makes sense (since I live here in NJ). I don't know if it will be granted though considering that the COVID cases have gone down and not many have been released for this reason in the past month. Will be interesting if they grant it. Thank you for making an account and reporting back. It is greatly appreciated. Here is the current list of infections throughout the whole prison system in NJ. I'm not sure which facility is holding him. No problem! Also, there were 2 more responses published today in response to his motion, the government denied his motion, as the nature of his crimes are too substantial for any circumstance to allow for bail. Also, it provided more information about his relationships, locations where he was with the victim, claimed that she wasn't the only victim (he began dating April before she even turned 16) and how likely it is for him to flee if granted. The 2nd document, shows proof of how April and her family have gone to extremes to prevent him from communicating with any potential victims though electronics as they have put all his belongings in a safe, and states that he cannot be at risk of with his third party custodian (April and her family) surrounding him with their imposed restrictions. He is expected to have an initial bail hearing today. Not surprised at all the government denied his motion, but I think theres still a chance for him to be released based on the court hearing? Another thing I noticed when reading, was that it said, "Moreover, the defendant faces additional charges in Burlington County, New Jersey, as well as Hamden, Connecticut, Maryland, and California." Him being charged in Maryland AND California? This is the first time I'm hearing this and it doesn't sound good.. seems like there's more victims.

I've been digging deep into this case the last few weeks, even though there hasn't been any new updates. However what I did find is that if you look up "UNITED STATES V. ANDREW DRECHSEL", you can find a website, "courtlistener.com" which has all the up to date filings on his case. www.courtlistener.com/docket/17413319/united-states-v-andrew-drechsel/#entry-9This link shows the most recent filing on his case that was done yesterday. It says "Release from custody" but that you need to buy the documents on a separate website, PACER, which you also need to make an account for (and costs $0.10 per page you view). After making an account, I looked up the recent filing on PACER, and it seems like Drew is trying to motion to the District of New Jersey with his lawyer for a release from custody due to COVID-19 as of yesterday.

James McGrath, Drew Drechsel (even tho he didnt really break out until season 7), Ryan Stratis, and Chris Wilczewski should be added to the poll imo

Imo its just a matter of time until Drew falls on stage one... he stated before that stage one is the hardest stage for him (harder than stage 2, and stage 2 is harder than 3 in terms of feeling comfortable), but we'll see..

So I am going to split this into 3 sections 1. Format 9/10 The format was great, splitting them up into 3 age groups 9-10 11-12 and 13-14 was a great idea and keeping the boys and girls running against each other was something I really liked seeing. "Qualifying round" format was perfict with the seeding race, kept everything fair. The only thing I would change would be after the top 16 are chosen, have the fasted run against the slowest then second fastest vs second slowest and so on, to make sure you have the best races in the finale, they got lucky this season but it could go badly if they don't do the bracket this way. Over all loved the format and would not be upset if they keep it this way for next season. Everyone was also shown, no drawn out sob stories, the profiles showed off their skills, and everyone got time, they didn't digest anyone which was great, every child on the show got their time to shine, they didn't try to make the show look like it was Hollywood produced, the focus was on the competitors as it should be. NBC take notes. 2. Course 7/10 I was disappointing that the courses stayed the same for the whole competition. They could have changed it up after each round. Preferably, they would have stage 1 course for till the top 8, then quarter finals a stage 2 course, semi finals a stage 3 course and finals a rope clime for the win. I did like that they had different obstacles for each age group and that the course was not dumbed down in any way. Smaller size but same difficulty. I do feel like they must change up the courses next season if they want the show to succeed. 3. Contestants 10/10 Absolutely amazing, almost every contestant that they got was amazing and had some top feet of athletic achievement, from Junior Olympians, to martial art masters, to children of adult ninjas, to kids coached by the all stars, to top sports athletes, to free runners, parkour. stunt children, you name it they had someone who was a master at it. The competition stayed competitive because everyone was so fantastic there was no one that you could say they are winning 100% in any age range. It was not a walk over from the boys against the girls either, which IMO showed girls everywhere that they can be just as good as boys when it comes to physical activity. Every worry I had coming in was thrown out after just a few episodes. The genders were equally matched The competitors didn't fall a majority of the time No one was far above anyone else. I can't wait for season 2. Best ninja show currently on the air. I agree with you on the course, it was repetitive and I would've much enjoyed to see a wider range of skills being put too use. That being said, Colin and Jay are beasts

the gap between the 2nd and 3rd ledge on the VLK is ridiculous. I can only see it being done if they got rid of the third ledge or added a break in between the UCCH and VLK, but i really hope people prove me wrong

Pretty much what others have said, this is what Joe said on Reddit:
MasterJoe07 6 points 5 days ago Sorry for the lack of updates. I essentially got yelled at for even posting. Here’s the deal, contract was terrible, compensation was a joke, myself and others are sick of making them millions for nearly no compensation. I’ll be back for ANW but not without changes to the contracts we sign. We ninjas are sticking together.

flip somewhat admitted his backstory back in like season 3 or 4 (around the time he started competing), except he just said that he was going through family problems, i think he talked a little bit about his dad before, but didn't go much into detail. Pretty surprised that it was that serious
