What would make a sasuke tournament so bad it's good? Also, any really life examples of such a scenario? 28 is the main one that stands out to me. Don't get me wrong, it's still in my bottom 5, but you can't help but just laugh at how try-hard some of the new additions were, like the dinner that no one wanted to be at judging by their facial expressions, the box lady, etc. Then the whole All-Star retirement is obviously incredibly egregious but given that it never amounted to anything it's quite funny looking back on how dramatic their forced "exits" were, only for half of them to come back the next tournament and clear in 29-30 lol. Obviously if they were indeed forcefully retired then I wouldn't share that same feeling. I really got the impression from 28 that Inui felt like Sasuke's formula had become "stale", not realising that Sasuke's formula was never the issue, more that Monster9 was going bankrupt, as well as a few other issues like early Shin-Sasuke results being quite bad, and 23-25 being aired in the space of 6 months, and so forth. So felt like he needed to add all of these new quirks and features to "refresh" the formula but in doing so bastardised it in lots of ways. We also got similar situations in 29 with the Stage 3 timer and 30 with Stage 2B, but it was way more apparent in 28 with the several aforementioned nuances that tournament had. Part of the reason it makes me laugh is because he went back on pretty much all of these ideas and changes in the very next tournaments, which is also why I think 28 is probably the worst aged tournament. Because it's an anomaly in the worst possible way. Ultimately a tournament can only be so bad it's good when the mediocrity is laughable, which I think 28 fits the bill perfectly for. 20 and 33 were just boring which is hard to look back on with a light-hearted sentiment, then other tournaments like 29 and 39 with the lack of fairness on Stage 2 and rain respectively are more frustrating than anything else. 28 is just funny because of how hard it was trying to take itself seriously.

19 for me. It is always entertaining seeing how for most competitors the worst possible outcome happened in one competition.

19 for me. It is always entertaining seeing how for most competitors the worst possible outcome happened in one competition. I went more with "bad" as in the tournament quality itself was bad, but if we're talking about bad results then absolutely 19. 5 as well. Mind you, 28's results weren't that much better, and most of the good results were spoiled in the Navi (something I forgot to mention), but also had a plethora of cringeworthy issues that I can't help but laugh at now. Like seriously, re-creating the Shin Sedai in the Navi (including Asa who had no prior track record in terms of notable runs), and they just happen to be the four best performers.....
