In Sasuke 9, Yamada put tape on his shoes with the goal of removing it giving him extra stick on the spider walk. This strategy was pretty ingenious given his prior struggles on the spider walk and seeing Nagano struggle on the new version. However his decision to apply adhesive cost him.
Do you think if a competitor who struggles on the spider walk and spider drop tried this strategy, would Inui allow it or disqualify them for "doing the obstacle incorrectly"?
On the modern stage 2, the time limit would be a problem with this strategy (depends on how fast they beat the salmon ladder) however if it could help them beat the spider walk/drop and make it to the back half of stage 2, that could be the difference between being invited back again or not as well as looking better on their Sasuke record and could provide much needed confidence on future attempts until an eventual clear.
Would Inui allow it? If so, what competitors do you think would try it and how much would it help them?

The tape was an external object that offered no tactical advantage in the end. Given the amount of time he spent having to remove it a DQ would most likely be pointless. So yes he would, most likely on the assumption that it wouldn't work anyway (which it didn't).

If Yamada found a way to get the tape off faster and decided against using adhesive spray (or didn't hesitate before applying it) then it would have worked to his advantage. He's always struggled on the spider walk and this was his first attempt on that version. Both Nagano and Kinnikun had struggled on it and Yamada found a way to counteract the difficulty.

Would Inui allow it? If so, what competitors do you think would try it and how much would it help them? To be honest I don't really see why he wouldn't have just used sticky spray instead, given that it would almost definitely provide extra stick to his shoes, whereas tape may or may not leave sticky residue depending on what type or how long he had it on, and as we saw wasted a bunch of time which caused him to time out. In terms of whether Inui would allow this, not sure, though competitors can get around it by taking the tape off just before they start Stage 2, as this would obviously circumvent the issue of wasting time taking it off during their run, and their feet barely spend time on the ground before the Spider Walk, like 2 seconds between the log and SL, and another 2 seconds between the SL the Spider Walk. Taking the tape off before you start your run would also render it pretty difficult for Inui to DQ a competitor for this strategy if it was prior to starting the stage, if he was going to anyway, though the fact that he allowed a certain move in the most recent competition (again, General Sasuke, but you know which one I mean lol) suggests he would probably be fine with it. Ultimately though I just think spray is better. You can apply a lot of it quickly and basically it's a case of the more you apply the more stick you get, whereas with tape you don't know how much residue you're leaving thus don't know how effective it'll be.
