Sasuke worst possible tournament results

Based on plausible lenses, I will mainly be looking at the best performing competitors and looking at any mistakes or close calls they had in the tournament. Feel free to correct me or your own answer.



Sasuke 1 - 10m up the rope (Kawashima). Omori times out in stage 2.


Sasuke 2 - Pipe Slider (Hiroaki). Tanaka and Omori time out in stage 2. Both of their clears were super down to the wire at 1.8s and 0.99s, both timing out is in the realm of plausibility.


Sasuke 3 - 13m up the rope (Yamada). Yamada fails to engage his legs until later resulting in him doing a little worse by 1.8m.


Sasuke 4 - Cliffhanger. All of the competitors who beat the cliffhanger struggled massively on it and them failing is in the realm of plausibility. If you think any of them beating it is plausible then it’s the pipe slider as even Akiyama came close to failing it.


Sasuke 5 - Spider Walk (Takeda). Yamada fails the derailed rolling log and Shingo withdraws due to his shoulder injury. If you think he would compete, then it’s still the spider walk due to his shoulder getting worse or him underestimating it.


Sasuke 6 - Cliffhanger (Hatakeda Yoshiaki). Yamada fails the Jump Hang.


Sasuke 7 - Cliffhanger (Kenji Takahashi) Shingo’s shoulder injury flares up in stage 2 causing him to fail the spider walk.


Sasuke 8 - Pipe slider dismount (Kane Kosugi). Jovtchev times out on stage 1 and Kane fails the pipe slider dismount.


Sasuke 9 - Globe Grasp (Takeda). Nagano times out on stage 2 or fails the spider walk.


Sasuke 10 - Cliffhanger (Iketani). Yamada times out on the wall lift or on the rope climb.


Sasuke 11 - Pipe Slider (Shinji) Nagano fails on the downward section of the cliffhanger or the body prop.


Sasuke 12 - 22m up the rope. Nagano’s stumble on the spider climb impacts him more, causing him to make it about as high as his 13 result.


Sasuke 13 - Same as.


Sasuke 14 - Same as. Maybe you could argue Shinji could make the same mistake as he did in 15 on the crooked wall but that was more related to heat and pressure.


Sasuke 15 - Jumping Bars(Koji Yamada). Takeda’s shoulder injury causes him to fail like he did in 14 and 16. Shiratori withdraws due to the heatstroke. You could argue Koji could make the same mistake on the metal spin that he did in 17 but I’d say that was just a freak mistake given he passed the same version twice before.


Sasuke 16 - Same as. Can’t think of any mistakes or close calls Bunpei had.


Sasuke 17 - Pipe Slider dismount (Nagasaki and Takeda). Nagano fails the circle slider (he’s always struggled with springboards and failed in sportsman and came close if you watch his attempt) and Nagasaki fails the dismount.


Sasuke 18 - Same as. Nagano could have failed on the flying chute or downhill jump, Kong could have failed the jumping spider but I can’t see any mistakes or close calls Shunsuke had.


Sasuke 19 - Rope Ladder (Kawahara Takuya) Koji and Washimi both fail the flying chute. Hirata Atsushi fails the jumping spider.


Sasuke 20 - Rope Ladder (Takeda). Levi fails the log grip. Okuyama chokes on the wall.Nagano fails the flying chute (with his illness prior to the competition being the main “cause”)


Sasuke 21 - Same as. Cannot identify any close calls or mistakes in Nagano’s runs.


Sasuke 22 - Same as. The only flaw I saw in Yuuji’s S1 run was in the jumping spider where his right foot was in a little bit. Could be argued that it could have been his worst, however I won’t count it as it’s hard to say if it really was a close call. If you do count it then the worst case result would be Okuyama and Lee failing the shin as Kanno also came really close to failing the jumping spider.


Sasuke 23 - Spider Flip (Takeda, Okuyama and Kong). Nagano fails the HPA or the slider jump properly. Kanno fails the salmon ladder. Kong makes the same mistake as Takeda due to his height.


Sasuke 24 - Same as. Yuuji was flawless this tournament.


Sasuke 25 - Same as. Only 2 maybes would be Hashimoto timing out on S1 and Lee failing the log grip but they barely matter as Kong’s runs were pretty flawless.


Sasuke 26 - Ultimate Cliffhanger (David Campvell). Lee times out/fails stage 1. Okuyama times out on stage 2.


Sasuke 27 - Chain see saw (Yuuji and Hashimoto). Ryo times out on stage 2 and Yuuji mistimes his jump on the see saw.


Sasuke 28 - Same as.


Sasuke 29 - Crazy Cliffhanger (Kanno and Asa). Morimoto times out on stage 2.


Sasuke 30 - Same as. Maybe Ryo does a little worse on the spider climb.


Sasuke 31 - Vertical Limit Kai (Kanno and Morimoto)


Sasuke 32 - UCCH first jump. (Jun and Brent) Drew times out on the wet wall and doesn’t get a rerun.


Sasuke 33 - Flying bar. Drew fails to counteract the glitched flying bar.


Sasuke 34 - UCCH second ledge. (Morimoto) While applying chalk on the ledge, Morimoto loses his grip and falls.


Sasuke 35 - Vertical Limit Tri. Morimoto fails the third transition.


Sasuke 36 - Same as, maybe Morimoto’s mistake on the salmon ladder mentally messes with him and times out a little lower.


Sasuke 37 - Same as.


Sasuke 38 - Cliffhanger Dimension second ledge.(Morimoto) Yoshiyuki fails the transition as normal due to bad RNG, however because of this, the wet area isn’t noticed and Morimoto is screwed by it.


Sasuke 39 - Cliffhanger dimension second jump. Tada gets bad RNG and fails.


Sasuke 40 - Same as.

Given everybody except Yoshihito finished with under 5 seconds in SASUKE 1 Stage 2, I think it ending at the Pole Bridge seems reasonable. Also, I could see nobody making it past the Warped Wall in SASUKE 5 in the worst universe.

That Stage 2 was incredibly brutal for its time, it wasn't particularly difficult in isolation but with the 50 second time limit and the fact that all of the obstacles fatally penalized rushing, it was a match made in heaven for a speed stage. Slip on the Spider Walk, lose balance on the Goren Hammer, or get stuck under one of the walls and that's it. 

On the topic of Sasuke 5, I actually think a Stage 1 ending was more likely than Sasuke 19, given that the clears were MUCH closer calls on the whole; also, no one got the wall on their first try, and usually after two, max three tries the competitor becomes too exhausted to continue, compared to numerous first-time clears on 19's wall despite it being harder.

Also forgot to say but if Koji and Lee fail Stage 1 in 25 then Kong's run definitely isn't flawless, he had a one handed save on the Circle Slider. 

BTW, if you do consider Yuuji's JS attempt in 22 a close call, there's a case to be made for a Stage 1 ending since everyone except Yuuji finished under 5 seconds. I really don't think this was likely, but by the standards of the list it's fair game.

Shunsuke in 18 had a very shaky Downhill Jump landing.

Also, a Stage 2 ending in 29 seems very possible.

29 would've 100% ended on Stage 2 if they'd kept the same strength of the jet stream as Shingo and Hashimoto had to endure; the former was a well esteemed surfer and still had absolutely no chance. 

I think the reason I'm doubtful that we would've had a Stage 2 ending in 29 is because they were clearly so hell bent on making sure that didn't happen, like reducing the strength of the jet streams, and turning a blind eye to Morimoto on the final wall. The reason we had a Stage 2 ending in 19 is because that's clearly what they were gunning for, and there's not much you can do about a static obstacle structure like the Salmon Ladder.
