Which old competitor who hasn't competed for the past few tournaments could still clear the first or even the second stage in sasuke 42?
Also, stick with competitors who hasn't competed for at least the past 6 tournaments. So, sasuke 35 and below.

Naoya Tajima and Kota Honma are the main ones that stick out to me. Both are still under 40 even now, and I felt quit too early as they had a fair bit of untapped potential that they never got the chance to unlock. Especially Tajima with his build being really suitable for modern-day Sasuke's Stage 3; his run in 24 was arguably more impressive than Yuuji's until he made that faux pas on the Gliding Ring. Dude really pulled himself up on the Spider Flip with just his arms.
A few of the guys from the early RISING era too, like Taiga Hoshikawa who almost made Stage 3 in Sasuke 30 and is still only like 28-29 years old, as well as Anastase who probably had a few good Stage 3 runs left in him given his ability to just brute force through Stages 1 and 2, though I feel like he'd become another Hioki or Sato as he was seemingly unable to work out the Cliffhanger, even slipping off the first ledge in 34.

If only Lee En-Chih is invited, he could seriously become the first ever competitor to clear in his 50s, he is still atletic even now. Also guys such as Yuuya Kadono and Ryouma Kato could do well because they are relatively young (both born in 1990-91), but unfortunately they are all victims of the evil dictator Inui who love to kick out all Stage 2 fodders (Nakagawa and Ugajin enter the chat..).

I'm actually surprised Ryouma got invited back after 23 given that he leaked his result before that tournament aired (which was also why he was All-Cut that tournament). I forgot about Lee, him being disinvited is one of the most puzzling things to me. He made Stage 3 in his last ever tournament so it wasn't like he was on a decline or anything, and they replaced him with someone who failed Stage 1 in 4/4 of his attempts and got cut every time as well. Not to mention that it's flat out disrespectful to forcefully retire someone with the track record that he had, being comfortably the most successful foreign competitor on Sasuke. He 100% had a few Stage 3 attempts left in him, and likely would've broken the Stage 1 clear record before Shingo and Kane. I've seen his Instagram and he barely looks older than he was when he competed. Ugajin is genuinely someone I'd like to see come back as he did display potential to beat Stage 2, it's mad to think that in 36 he was merely a couple of obstacles away from being invited back perennially, given that Araki has been invited back every time ever since he made Stage 3 in 36, otherwise he would've likely been part of that culling. The others like Takasu and Igarashi I could take or leave, because they would've likely just continued to fail either early on Stage 2 or the Dragon Glider.

On Lee's sasukepedia page it says he retired due to "politics" and Taiwan picking a new representative. This is extremely vague, were Japan and Taiwan feuding or something in 2015? What "politics" is it referring too?

What "politics" is it referring too? It can't have been due to politics in its most literal sense as if this was the case they wouldn't have brought another Taiwanese competitor, instead they merely replaced Lee with Liao Long Zhun, which I don't understand given that both competed together in Sasuke 30, and Lee made the Cliffhanger while Liao failed the Jump Hang Kai. So why they decided to shun Lee and go with Liao I have no idea, even if they only allowed 1 Taiwanese rep as opposed to 2 for further tournaments, Lee would've and should've been the obvious pick with his track record. The only reason I could think of was that Lee was pushing 40, but he seems to be completely ageless, especially if his Instagram is anything to go by. I did hear that they flat out replaced Lee with Liao somewhere some time ago, I'd need to do some digging to find the source of that information.
