Which fails do you think, had they not happened, could've resulted in the competitor winning? Only highly avoidable fails, rather than fails that occurred due to lack of strength, stamina, or technique, otherwise this list will be stupidly long lol.
Travis Schroeder in 4: cleared the Pipe Slider jump before being DQ'd, which was highly avoidable as he just brute forced down the first track unnecessarily. Would've likely won due to his rope climbing skills as a Navy Seal, though it's an interesting debate as to how this would've been considered in the show's history with him being a foreigner + retiring soon after.
Shinji Kobayashi in 11: had a good swing on one of his jumps but just didn't commit, then ran out of grip strength. With his upper body and speed, he could've very possibly won in his debut tournament.
Akiyama in 12: jumped on the Pipe Slider despite the pipe having moved back, not sure if this was a do or die move due to his grip draining or not, but seemed like it could've been avoided as he almost made the landing platform as it was. With his agility and impeccable rope climbing skills, he could very well have won a second time.
Bunpei in 17: seems like he just slipped and also the Body Prop seemed to be especially slick that tournament, which should've been mentioned by someone. Given how close he came to winning in 12, and the fact he trained his butt off for the Final since then, he may well have won that tournament, provided the Pipe Slider didn't fail him again, but once again given his home course + technique he could've cleared that too.
Nagano in 18: realistically could've cleared the Shin-Cliffhanger even without the DQ, and got offered a re-run which he declined. Given how the back half was almost identical to 17's, unless the Gliding Ring was how it was in 21 and depending on what 18's Final was, he could've possibly won.
Yuuji in 23: entirely avoidable fail as he rushed the Unstable Bridge dismount. Given that he won the very next tournament only 3 months later with the docked time limit, and had trained rope climbing aggressively after 22, he would've likely won otherwise.
Takeda in 23: failed due to sticking his leg too far out on the Spider Flip, which seemed like a spur of the moment error that could've been avoided. Unlike the Golden Era, with no Pipe Slider, unless he completely choked on the Gliding Ring, this was probably his best shot at clearing Stage 3, and with a Final that played more to his strengths as a firefighter than any other, he would've likely won had he made it there.
Kong in 24: won't even explain this one lol
Nagano in 24: made a complete faux pas on the Jumping Spider. Shame as this is probably the one I'm most confident would've won given how close he came in 23 and the fact that I couldn't see Stages 2 or 3 stopping him.
Campbell in 27: I know he did technically run out of strength, but it was so painfully agonizingly close that I have to mention this one. Unless he got stopped by Chain See-Saw, given how easy 27's Final was and the fact he won Sasuke Vietnam, he could've very possibly Kanzened if he'd held on for a couple more seconds.
Ones that don't count imo:
Yamada in 6-12: all of his fails were avoidable (bar maybe 7 and 11), but given that it took Nagano, who's lighter and faster, four tries to beat that Final, I very much doubt Yamada, who always had trouble with time limits, could've Kanzened either time.
Nagano in 21: was allegedly offered a re-run but was asked to redo the entire stage, and given that he failed at the very end, he would've been too exhausted.
Takeda in any of his runs bar 23: majority of his fails on Stage 3 were due to lack of stamina or technique, especially when it came to the Pipe Slider, which seemed to be his hard limit during the Golden Era as he just could not figure it out to save his life.
Yusuke in 30: would've likely made the Final had he not taken the time limit for granted on Stage 2, but the Spider walls on 30's Final were notoriously slippery (just watch Tomo's run), so I'm not confident he would've beaten it in those conditions.
