I know there's only 1% for him to return and also clear Stage 1 in the future. Assuming he did clear Stage 1. Well, how would he do in Stage 2? Will he have a shot for Stage 3? And PS, if Stage 2 that he challenge have a Rolling Log.

Even if he miracoulosly clear Stage 1 (0,01% for me) he will time out on Backstream as an absolute best

I'd honestly say Rolling Log or Salmon Ladder. Mainly because Matsuda is quite a prominent choke artist, and both Ryo and Goto, who are also choke artists, have failed there a few times. I can definitely see Matsuda just rushing into the Salmon Ladder and derailing the bar, or just slipping off the Rolling Log, as I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) that I don't think he has a replica in his backyard. Especially as his only actual chance to have cleared was 38 (where he didn't just choke on the Dragon Glider or Fish Bone), which was when the log was its most difficult. But yeah, even if he does make it past the first two obstacles, even with the lenient Stage 2 time limit, I cannot see him clearing. Speed isn't his strong suit, even on Stage 1.
Re him returning, I don't think he's retired for good? He stated on his Instagram that he just wanted to take some time out but he'll be back. Whether this is true or not, we'll have to wait and see, but he hasn't done a Bunpei and torn down his home course. He still has it and trains on it himself.
If he does return though, unfortunately I can just see it being more of the same. He'll be pushing 50 by the time Sasuke 42 rolls around, clearly can't cope with the mental pressure of being the "guy with the home course", and generally his prior track record isn't particularly confidence inspiring.
