Hey guys, I have a question, what is you guys opinion on Shunsuke getting number 98 in sasuke 33? Is it too high for him, was it well deserved? As much as I like shunsuke, him getting 98 was a bit weird considering his stage 3 run was at best ok in sasuke 32. What do you all think?

I think they were compensating for the way they had treated him in past tournaments, as he usually got numbers in the #80s despite being a shoe in for Stage 3 at the time, as well as other things like cutting him in 31 and declining his application to compete in 32. He was also the only semi-active former Finalist at the time who was doing well, behind Kawaguchi and Yusuke who wore #99 and #100 respectively in that tournament. I also believe they didn't really have a better fit; Jun had just broken out into Stage 3, they didn't like Drew enough to give him a higher number, Asa, Kanno, and Kongu had failed Stage 1 in the prior tournaments, Nagano wasn't competing....

And despite giving him #98 they digested both his clears, despite his 2nd Stage run was a nail-biting one.

Challenge showed Jun and Drew's Stage 2 runs in full, and showed a bit of Shunsuke's Stage 2 run; him on the SL and Backstream etc. The fact he barely cleared that tournament's Stage 2 despite training a lot more back then kind of confirms to me that he's never clearing the current Stage 2 again. He's just too slow and now has that mental block on the Spider Drop. |

miss the old shunsuke, wished he took the show more seriously but i understand what he is going through now with being busy with family and all
