If G4 dropped Ninja Warrior I think Spike, Versus, or Fuel would pick it up. Those channels cater close to G4's type of demographic. I wouldnt mind if versus picked up sasuke, they tend to not f**k up shows. The thing is not everyone gets Versus or Fuel. Matter of fact with my service is the DISH 120 Channel Pack, and Versus and Fuel TV happen to be on the 180 Pack, BS but eh, not paying the bills so I go with what I have.

Versus is also owned by Comcast, btw. However, it tends to be on more of the main sports tier as counter-programming to ESPN. Ironically, this involves being what ESPN used to be, i.e. picking up non-mainstream sports. If VS. could find a club soccer league or indoor football, then they'd really be in business.
My above statement was pretty much a cryptic version of the following: if you think what G4 is doing is such a grave injustice, why do you even give them the time of day? By participating in ANC, watching Nina Warrior, et al, you're essentially saying that you approve of the status quo. By organizing others to not watch and not enter, you send a message to G4 that you don't like what's going on, and if the management has any idea whatsoever, they'll react accordingly. (This will likely involve canceling Ninja Warrior in the US, but hey, lesser of two evils, right?)
For all of the legitimate gripes we lob at the network, there's still a lot of hypocrisy here, and I'm willing to bet a big reason that people are bitching that it's "all about them" is simply because it's not about you. Both you and I know that if roles were reversed, you would have no qualms as long as you stayed in the spotlight. So instead of taking some sort of stand or trying to beat G4 in their own game, you're content to just go along your normal business and yell at the wall when things don't go your way.
You should be better than this. You should be better than them. Why don't you do something about it?

I chose a slightly different route for my protest. I don't watch G4 anymore anyway and have been doing my petition to get the DVD directly from M9. That way I don't give G4 my business. Besides.. it's not like I would ever enter Sasuke anyway

I'd be more loyal to my network's fans.

See though, I still like G4's version. I really do. Sasuke and Ninja Warrior are like 2 sides to the same coin to me. Sasuke may be the original and actual competition, but I don't know Japanese yet, and their dubbing isn't too far off. It's not like they're deliberately changing around what the commentator is saying to fit their own needs, past translation barriers. And yes, the old competitions were said in a manner that they divided everything up into multiple days, but so what? Who cares? If it wasn't for G4 dubbing it into english and putting it up here, I never would have known about the awesome show. And if there was no G4 forums, I never would have realised Sasuke, and therefore would have never trained, either. I would have continued loving the show, I would have never trained, and heck... I never would have cared. And I would have been fine with that. G4 is NOT turning this into another MXC. They are taking a Japanese show, and well... Americanizing it for an American audience. But they've changed a lot due to the complaining... Calling it Sasuke and not always Ninja Warrior, trying to show the entire season in one block when it's released (Just like Sasuke, but so they can still divide it up later when needed), and actively trying to appease their audience. They know that Ninja Warrior has a great fan following, and also know that Sasuke has it's own following as well. And guess what... I honestly think they are trying to make huge changes to please (Wait for it...) BOTH audiences! Even Arsenette noticed it when she noticed Olivia asking fans not to hate her, and called Sasuke by it's true name at the top of Mt. Midoriyama... not Ninja Warrior from the bottom of it's muddy pools. As far as Ninja Warrior is broadcasted and aired, please... please give G4 more credit. They're working on it, and we all know they aren't done yet. They're not there to deliberately destroy Sasuke. They're just as much fans as we are, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to send us to Japan to compete (Alongside themselves, no less... if Kevin and Olivia (Well, dunno about Olivia) weren't fans, they wouldn't be using their power to run the course instead of just stand alongside the American competitors), they wouldn't be doing fan events, and well... heck. They might have just taken it off the air to replace with Cheaters

(This will likely involve canceling Ninja Warrior in the US, but hey, lesser of two evils, right?) Obviously, you failed to read my previous statements. Here's a refresher. I stopped watching G4 aloooooooong time ago. They bought out TechTV (which I highly enjoyed) and gutted it to nothing. X-Play being the only show that survived (and nowhere as good as it used to be). The only thing I bother to TiVo is the new NW episodes so I can get a translation on what I didn't understand was going on during Sasuke, like when Mark fell in 21. Or what I missed as TVAnts and LiveStation didn't broadcast for me and Keyhole was just a mess of pixels with audio. Of course, I'm going to start learning Japanese so I'll have one less reason to be reliant on G4.[/qoute] If they cancel NW, then so be it. It's already a proven fact G4 cancels what it wants if it doesn't get what it wants out of it (i.e. high ratings, the right demographic, etc). Once again you fail to read what my original gripe was about. WTF?! We have all these people who have dedicated themselves to the single goal of just getting the opportunity to go to Japan. Ryan, Oti, Sam, and many others who bust their a** and spend their time and money just to go out to California to show that they have what it takes. Real fans of the show who sacrifice alot in their lives for Sasuke, but all we get is over 10 minutes of Olivia Munn humiliating her internet nay sayers (who the hell are these idiots anyways?). Way to go G4! Way to once again crap on the real fans to sate your own MASSIVELY OVERBLOWN egos. It's just more of the same and I personally have no interest in anything G4 does anymore. Even when they have the means in their hands to make it right, it's still all about them. This has never been about me. I haven't entered an ANC nor was I at the Fan day event. My anger comes from the video they posted on the NW main page as I was getting Sam the rules of the new ANW contest, which I PMed him. I watched the video expecting to see those mentioned above doing what they love. And instead, it's a slap in the face to the true fans. Why is this tripe posted when you have guys who want to run the real course in Japan, some from halfway across the country on their own dime, on their own time. And this is the respect they get? I think past David and Luci's run, we got a whole whopping 30 second montage devoted to fans running the course they put up. This has never been about bashing G4, it's been about Olivia's ego and bashing G4 for letting her do it. But you just go on thinking it's all about me, cuz you know, I'm not better than them, now am I?

At least they don't come here and argue. It's all about G4, it's all about Olivia. To hell with the fans.

I never got an answer back from any of the questions or suggestions I sent in. What I want to know is this. Are the people they show as Olivia's internet "nay-sayers" real or just G4 staffers and interns posing in a sad attempt to mimic us? I'd bet the latter. Oh they were never introduced as internet nay-sayers in the way you are thinking. They are all G4 staffers from the web department. It was sort of a treat for them to run the course and they kinda hyped it up to be grudge type thing. So it's easy to see how that's the video that got posted to the website....seeing as it features the web people. It would be nice if they just had another video featureing more fan runs though.

I'm wondering how many of you people think Olivia has a big say in how these videos of her are produced for Ninja Warrior.
It's not like Olivia is in the production room demanding they show her fail the Sextuple Steps 20 times and then spend 10 minutes of training time on beating it.
If you want to point a finger, point it at the producers and directors of the segments. They're the ones who direct the "story" for the Ninja Warrior previews and web videos that are getting everyone all hot and bothered.
Yes, like everyone else, I'd like to see more fan service. But I'm not going to go into a blinding rage about the egos of the people who bring us Ninja Warrior in the first place. Especially not at the talent (Olivia, Kevin).

They're the ones who direct the "story" for the Ninja Warrior previews and web videos that are getting everyone all hot and bothered. I've always said this. I don't b**** at the people who go there and tape endless hours of tape and bring their own translators and make everyone feel comfortable and welcome every time you talk to them. I b**** HEAVILY at the idiots who produce the show that makes it to air. It's a small group directed by their own director with corporate telling them WHAT to produce. Lord knows in my years in TV watching my friends trying to produce a show I want to watch.. they are strapped as to what they are allowed to show. Whenever they then produced a show for profit (like a DVD or a special to add to the original) my friends would jump in glee being able to show "the deleted scenes" of what THEY wanted to be on the friggin' show in the first place. I think this is why I got out of television and turned to film. Having almost no creative license to do what I wanted because some idiot in a suit who has no idea wtf the show was about decided it had to be this way because that's what the testing said would drive me up the wall.

So it's easy to see how that's the video that got posted to the website....seeing as it features the web people. It would be nice if they just had another video featureing more fan runs though. I see what you are talking about. Olivia mentions that the G4 interactive team had some fun at her expense. But then she says right after it that she's having a couple of her favorite internetters run it. She fails to point out that they are the same people she's talking about. And at no point in the video does anyone point out that they are staffers. So the confusion and rant (sorry, no blinding rage involved) is mine. I assumed they were making fun of the fans, especially those who hit the internet and train alot for Sasuke. And we all know what happens when we ASSume. So just as quickly as I can throw blame I can take it for going off on a misconception. Thank you for pointing that fact out David, as it's not something I would have known for not being there. Still, I hope they show full runs of alot of the internet guys such as Oti, Sam and others.
