UH OH. From the wikipedia article on Honbankyo at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobankyo"J Network 29 May 2009[2] - Two employees of Bangkok-based company J Network Service were arrested on charges of violating Japan's copyright law. Both defendants live in Japan, and used servers in several dozen locations throughout Japan to transmit broadcast TV out to customers via the Internet for a fee. Fuji Television notified the authorities in June 2008 about the subscription business, and later reported two violations of copyright to the authorities in February 2009 for transmitting the day-time talk show Gokigenyo through J Network." In other words, we (well, the rest of you) need to start double checking ways to watch the show. Edit: Doh. I conflated JNet and live streams that most of us use such as TVAnts and livestation. Most of you will be concerned with the latter for watching the show live. Either way, my last point stands: We should start checking and double checking ways to watch the show (and NAVI). Are Keyhole and TV Ants still running TBS?

Yeah, but isn't that because they were making money off of it? We are not paying to watch it on the internet, so I wouldn't think it would violate it.. Would it?

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't KeyHole being run by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs? I find it hard to believe that we'd run into any legal issues there. And yes, KeyHole is still running TBS, as of today. I dunno about Livestation, but it wasn't running during 22...

Keyhole is "run" by the ministry but the idea of keyhole is to "broadcast yourself" not "broadcast your favorite TV station" so who knows if they'll finally decide to crackdown on users in the future.

I read about the JNet toppling from Jason when he found that his feed was suddenly gone one day. For those who didn't know.. JNet was responsible for the HQ video we all downloaded.. the really pretty one.. yeah.. RIP JNet.. There are a bunch of other ones that we can try. As the day gets closer we will see which ones have survived the crackdown. Some are free, some are not. I for one am a cheap bastage and can't find myself justifying paying for a service I use 3 times a year (2 Sasuke's and Sportsman #1). /sigh..

Well with Sasuke, couldn't one claim non-profit performance in Japan's copyright law in reproducing the show?

I hope that TVAnts works again or we can get another feed from somewhere. Worst case scenario for me, I'd have to wait another month or so to watch it on JET TV, but I know that's not an option for most of you here. It's so much better watching it 'live' and not knowing any results beforehand. Let's all hope we can watch it on the TBS air date.

Yeah, I read Sasuke 21 results and then had to wait till G4 came out with it 2 months later. Sasuke 22 I watched live on Keyhole.. Even if it was a little choppy, It's waaaaay better than just reading results and watching it later on G4.

Can't be bothered to update my proxy to get TVAnts to work, but TBS on Keyhole is fine.

I'm wondering if this is part of an overall crackdown on exported media. Between this, the One Piece debacle, and the new Visual Novel laws, it looks like Japan is really starting to close its doors to the West again. Would like a word with them

for some reason, it's being little laggy
But yes. As of right now, it survived on TV Ants.

Bump
TBS is still on Keyhole, but there is no way it's going to be a viable option. Tonight, there were easily 2500 users (900 of which were tuned to Fuji TV) and the quality was garbage, ruining a very very good episode of my favorite quiz shows.

I can't get TVAnts to show TBS live--I seem to be getting different (past?) shows. I was running Keyhole simultaneously to make sure. I know there's a time lag between the two, but this is...hours. I'll goof around with it some more. Sure hope there's a viable alternative come Sasuke 23.

Hey what are you doing up at this hour you silly goose Anyway it is a great idea to start messing with option soon. It's about a month out but someone might find a better option since we all know that we can't handle everyone on Keyhole anymore.

Last time, I didn't experience any lags.
I will try to see what's up with TVAnts tonight when I come back from my day activities (yay golf).
Also, from my knowledge, I remember that Livestation went up around the time of SASUKE 22. Can someone confirm that? (I'm going to check myself, but just because it works for me doesn't mean that it works for everyone.)

I was able to get TBS on Livestation the night before they aired Sasuke 22 and then when the time came for it to air TBS was not available and we had to go back to Keyhole.
