Now that we (the US G4 viewers) are losing the show once again, I figured, let's reminisce:
Which tournament(s) do you feel G4 did the best job in airing? I know that (at least prior to 28) they always did it wrong with airing people out of order and usually making the last person standing the one who did the best overall. But I'm sure there are some where it was at least for the most part done well. What would you say falls into that category?
(My apologies if this is a really dumb question.)

I guess ironically I'll go with 26 and 27. Yeah they cut the Americans out and treated ANW 2 and 3 like a solo event, but I thought it was pretty cool to see runs that were cut from the TBS broadcast (ex. Kong, Kanno, and Hashimoto in 26 and Kong, Nagasawa, and the Stage 2 runs of Iketani and Ryouma in 27).
Fun fact: Ryouma Kato is the first and only Japanese competitor to have a full run shown on G4, but never on TBS (cut in 23 and 30, and digested in 27), while everyone else got shown on TBS at least once. I guess considering he did break the NDA he'd be on TBS' shitlist, but still it's an interesting tidbit.

I'm assuming he revealed information about the tournament like his result, number placement, or that of others, before either the show was broadcast or embargo on supplementary information was lifted. I presume it was something minor like posting a photo of the course, because if he revealed anything like his result he probably would've been flat out banned. Referring back to the original question, for some reason I always liked the edits of a lot of the late Golden Era tournaments, specifically those like 10 and 17 where they showed all Stage 3 runs and most other runs from prolific competitors. I'd say worst was probably 12. G4 has this weird habit of fast-forwarding any runs that weren't shown in their absolute entirety, which is why they absolutely botched 12's Stage 3 edit, because most Rumbling Dice attempts got skipped. And rather than just starting their run from when they were shown (which for some were a good 80% of their run), they just fast-forward it completely. Hell, they even skipped Koji Yamada's run even though it was one of three out of the 10 Stage 3 attempts to actually be shown in full. And with Stage 2 they just completely gave up and skipped straight to the leaderboard lol. Generally though, across all tournaments, I've always hated how almost downright patronising the G4 edits are. Like how they'd always mix up the runs on later stages so that the person who fails the earliest gets shown first and vice versa for farthest, like how they branded Shinji as the 'last hope' for the tournament in 14 even though his number showed that he wore a much lower number than any of the All-Stars (even for casual viewers it's pretty easy to work out that competitors run in numbered order). They'd also be inconsistent between the order of runs between Stages 2 and 3 which just makes no sense. The translations are also hilariously wrong and borderline disrespectful at times, like how pretty much every line is re-translated to something like 'I'm so happy I made it!' or 'Ninja Warrior is so tough!' when they're very obviously saying something much more complex, as well as the fact that some of the mistranslations are obvious from a mile away. I suppose they're trying to expand their fanbase to kids as well, but it's annoying nonetheless. Sorry for the rant, but needed to say this since we're on topic of G4 edits lol. |

I will say that about the 26th and 27th tournaments, kudos to G4 for digging up full runs of those who were otherwise cut from the original broadcasts. Though I was annoyed that for those (and the 23rd) tournaments they cut out the Americans; 26 in particular annoyed me because that made it look like only two guys went to the third stage altogether.
I know there were some other notable edits that occurred throughout history, like in their version of 10, we did not get to see the famous Yamada interview post-stage 3 (though if anyone remembers the G4 preview special for 18 which has pretty much disappeared since its last airing, whenever it was, that special had a quick glimpse of that interview). And I agree, 12 wasn't done all that well either (couldn't the announcer at the least have said that the other competitors took on stage 2 and they all cleared it or something?). I am also surprised that when they started this show for G4 viewers, they began with 15 and even then, it would be several years before those viewers got to see 1 (but I do like how they left in the original graphics for that particular tournament).
And I do give kudos to whenever they aired the highest-numbered athlete in the third stage like originally intended (Yamada in 4, Takeda in 24, Nagano in 27) to actually add to the drama.
Other than the difference in announcer (and his type of energy), 28 seemed to be done well given that (apart from some fast-forwards) everything was in order as originally intended.
Told you all this was a dumb question of mine but I was genuinely curious.
