Well, this is awkward... deadline.com/2022/10/comcast-pulls-plug-on-g4-tv-ending-comeback-try-video-game-network-1235145219/Just a month after word of layoffs hit this forum, remaining staff members were informed that operations had been discontinued "effective immediately".......the same way you guys are finding out right now. As one would expect, they are unsure about what to do with what to do with the remaining episodes and when linear will be closing, however it's confirmed through G4's official Discord server that the recently opened Pluto TV/Vizio WatchFree+ channel "G4 Select" is going off the air at 12AM Pacific Time (that's around 45 minutes as of writing this). It is also known through said Discord server that they had planned up to tournament 37 in terms of dubs, with 29 and 30 being near completion, 31~34 having bits and pieces finished, and 35~37 only having scripts and timing done (as they were made from scratch, of course). This is a huge loss and setback for the Ninja community, as we have now once again returned to the same situation we were put in eight years ago, with no legal way to watch Ninja Warrior in America.

Bit out of the loop here so apologies if anything I say sounds a bit ignorant.
But didn't G4 literally just come back within the last 1-2 years?

Sadly I expected this. Not in this way but given the history of G4 then Esquire then G4 again I'm not surprised. Pretty cruel for the staff to find out in the news though.

I hope they don't cancel the show. If they're sticking with TV, they should air it on Syfy. Then put episodes on Peacock Premium a month later or something if they feel it's worth it to pay TBS for licensing on streaming. Can't be more expensive or time-consuming than developing a new show like Frogger that people don't seem to be watching. Then cross-promote it with ANW. Maybe that helps get more viewers for ANW on streaming so they renew for more seasons on the service.
I feel like the primetime bulk of G4's linear channel could've been a condensed 2-hour block on Syfy or a section on Peacock. Not much worth setting up an entire dedicated TV channel with the budget and massive crews for what amounts to a few YouTuber style discussion and sketch shows. If they cut back on the budget and crew size, they probably could've focused on growing their streaming presence and making content for YouTube for at least another year.

Sadly, I expected this. I'm not that big into gaming but the ones I know are say that a lot of the content insulted them and that they should have brought back some of the originals. It seems like they went against their main demographic and you had some of us who just wanted dubbed Sasuke
Really this is something for Peacock. It's a relative niche fanbase but as penguincatfish said I imagine licensing and dubbing a show is cheaper than creating a knock-off like Frogger. Heck, while they're at it they could add Ninja Warrior UK and Ninja Warrior Australia which really don't even need dubs.

I was afraid it would happen after hearing about the layoffs, and now the worst has come to pass. And for us, we won't even be getting 29 & 30 next week like we were promised.
Why must the US always be left out of the SASUKE party (legally)? I'm sure someone will say "American Ninja Warrior", but other countries have Ninja Warriors of their own (such as the UK) and still get to see SASUKE tournaments.
It's really unfortunate. I can't understand why we must be denied.
I hope someone recorded Ninja Warrior 28 somewhere and will upload it for us.

Bites the dust, you mean. "Bite the bullet" means to accept the inevitable and endure hardship with fortitude.
In any case, this was not unexpected. Even though I didn't watch the new G4, I did get the distinct impression that it was struggling. Audience engagement seemed way down, and the whole operation had an amateurish tinge to it that made it seem destined to fail. Then, when the all-new Sasuke episodes premiered with hardly a peep from anyone... I knew not many people were watching.
Oh well. I hope the finished Sasuke episodes are made available eventually. I still want to see them.

It was released that since May, the channel had only pulled in an average audience of 1000~3000 people in primetime, yikes... It was also confirmed by staff and members of the official G4 Discord (which has since gone through a bit of a remodel since the wake of this news) that Ninja Warrior has officially been pulled and that the "fate of ownership in the US" is "unknown". Listings for the newer edits for 29 and 30, which were scheduled to air on the 26th and 27th (respectively), have since been pulled. So um...yeah this kinda sucks, doesn't it?

Yeah I thought the viewership was probably low too. It wasn’t that bad to me, which I mainly watch ninja warrior. When I did watch attack of the show, it was pretty good, but they did pull some politics and “woke” stuff I didn’t agree with and sure more people felt the same. I’m sure that’s not the only reason they went down,

I just hope something will be figured out for the U.S. in terms of tournaments 29 onwards (we were supposed to get 29 & 30 this week but not anymore!). And that someone somewhere has uploaded 28.

Thanks, that is good to see. Glad we'll at least get to keep watching a tournament that took over 10 years to get to us.
I wish the other tournaments would still come to us, somewhere, somehow. G4 or not.

Something I just learned that adds to the frustration is that a few years back Comcast acquired Xumo, a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, similar to and meant to compete with Pluto TV (owned by Paramount). Paramount uses Pluto TV to promote their other streaming service Paramount+. Comcast has two streaming services (Xumo and Peacock) in their arsenal but chose not to utilize them here. All they did was put G4 Select on Pluto TV and called it a day. Funny how something like the IGN channel is still chugging along. pluto.tv/en/live-tv/ign/detailsNotice how Xumo carries all the episodes of The Attack, the version of Kevin's show that was made for Disney XD awhile back. play.xumo.com/tv-shows/the-attack/XM0X0RPWP040V0They also have a dedicated Wipeout channel! Pluto TV used to have this but it was rebranded into Pluto TV Vs. to feature their other reality competition shows. play.xumo.com/networks/wipeout-xtra/99951129No clue why the network can't or won't do the same with Ninja Warrior on either Xumo or Peacock. Could even look into airing some International spin-offs like France, Germany, Israel, etc.

It seems like only Sasuke 28 and 29 came out as a result from G4 2021 version from What I have seen on the online sources on the internet.

Unfortunately though, American viewers only saw 28. Though there are screenshots of 29 being broadcast, that ultimately never was played on TV in America.
Still pains me how America is again getting shut out of the SASUKE party. I don't see how it comes back for them now.

I didn't get to see it. Where I live it was on the schedule before it got taken off (same with 30). I wonder if someone will upload it somewhere if they do have it.
