G4TV hit with major layoffs

It's reported that 20-30 staff members were just laid off. The network had around 200 employees.

Russell Arons, the network's president who joined last September for the relaunch, left the network back in July.

Sad to hear; sounds like G4 could be on its last legs again (really hope that isn't the case). If it is, we can definitely forget about any post-SASUKE 27 tournament ever airing on the channel. (Including those three we were promised - 35-37 - but never received.)

These are more widespread Comcast layoffs, not any results of anything G4 has done or the state of G4.

Two Xplay hosts are gone - Corey Smallwood (The Black Hokage), and Indiana Black (Froskurinn).

For note on these. Ovilee's contract expired as did TBH's. Frosk's contract was bought out after the layoffs. Kevin's contract also has officially expired as of Wednesday, his last time as host on AotS.

And back in the spring, Blair Herter had left as well, and moved to the Netherlands where he joined Team Liquid gaming.
