Seems like a potential risk on the first jump where competitors have to twist their wrists and and then landing them with force on the second swing.

Nah not really, unless they had an underlying wrist condition like Daisuke Nakata, doing a reverse lache grab is perfectly safe. Well not safe, but you know what I mean. I’ve done reverse laches before and the switch grip isn’t really strenuous on the wrists.

It might affect those with shoulder problems though, I think Graff injured her shoulder on the Falling Shelves.

Honestly if any I would consider it one of the safer obstacles. I wonder how D*** would have felt if he saw this obstacle and then remembered they DQed him for his CCH technique in 31...

Honestly if any I would consider it one of the safer obstacles. I was thinking about it earlier and I wouldn't say there's that many obstacles that are really dangerous at all these days. Anyhow, I think a competitor is more likely to break their wrist (and a whole lot of other things) on the Wall, if they were to have a bad technique when falling down if they missed the top.

The only super dangerous thing I can think of that the course has had post-RISING is the Swap Salmon Ladder. I mean those rungs looked like they could gouge an eye out or slice off a finger, not to mention the DQ rule that was the only reason it was allowed to function. How that Salmon Ladder got past H&S is beyond me.

As someone who has permanent damage in my wrist I don't enjoy Reverse Grab obstacles at all but that's personal preference. I can't even turn my wrist up, so the idea of catching something reverse and the force from the shelf sounds agonizing. That all being said, I don't think the obstacle is unsafe, I'm more worried about someone bashing their face into the shelves than wrist damage.

unlikely - but things can happen. it's possible that they could if they were to grab it in a weird way or if they had previous injuries that led to that scenario. not that it would be likely but freak injuries can happen on any obstacle (not just the swing edge)

Granted Jessie did hurt her shoulder on ANW's counterpart the Falling Shelves, I think that was more just bad luck than it was a function of the obstacle. Whereas with Drop Zone in ANW 13 it was clearly because the obstacle was set up in a precarious manner. I recall the Sidewinder in 31 bruised Kawaguchi up pretty bad (and supposedly he wasn't the only one) and injured Kanno, but again that might just have been bad luck. Sometimes injuries can be hard to call if they're a function of the obstacle or just bad luck (ex. Paul Darnell in 23 was just bad luck whereas D*** in 27 was because of a precarious setup).
