Who do you think does not deserve to clear a certain stage, whether by sheer luck or lenient time limit?
Mine would be James Okada, given his horrible technique on the Rope Climb, and debatably crossed the finish line in Stage Two in time. Yukio Iketani (Naoki's older brother) in the first tournament, given how he tried to rush on the Second Stage and it cost him. When he returned in 20 and 24, he performed worse than his brother and even had the nerve to laugh at him when he was struggling on the Wall in 24. Ijima Toyohisa aka Bruce Lee, due to his constant showboating which cost him a clear in 11. Even worse, he failed the first obstacle in Sasuke 2 which is identical to the one he cleared previously. I might be biased in saying this, but I did like his personality and his antics, unlike Yukio. Note: I will not be including certain celebrites like Darvish, ABC-Z, Snowman, Saikawa, etc., because they actually trained for the show.

The first guy to clear in Sasuke 34 who ended up giving perhaps the worst ever performance on the Salmon Ladder, then failed the Rolling Hill in the next tournament.

I mean, I thought his quick and slick clears on the Fish Bone and the Double Pendulum were deserving of him clearing. But I mean, I get what you're saying.

It was undeserving in the sense that whenever we get an easy Stage 1, we get a load of rookies clearing but then end up absolutely botching Stage 2, Ono Minami being a prime example of this.
Depends how you define ‘undeserving’ and what you think the difficulty gap between Stages 1 and 2 should be. But I guess my point is that had it been a somewhat average level of difficulty for the era he wouldn’t have cleared. He also failed the Rolling Hill in the next tournament as well.
