Yeah Ryo wasted like a full minute in total applying the spray before Spider Walk, getting slowed by the Backstream, and struggling to lift the walls. Honestly had he not applied the spray he might have actually cleared the stage and then it would be very possible we would have seen 28's Stage 3 cleared on it's first go (considering aside from the Crazy Cliffhanger and Vertical Limit it wasn't even that hard). Plus Asa, Kanno and especially Yuuji weren't even going that fast and still cleared with herds of time.

A part of me feels like Ryo wasted a lot of time because he was psyching himself up for the Backstream. There was a snippet of him talking to the producer before his Stage 2 run and it went along the lines of him saying he can’t swim front crawl, only breast stroke, and the producers only then deciding it was safe for him to attempt the obstacle. Clearly similar to Yuuji (who was scared of water as he nearly drowned as a kid) Ryo had some sort of fear of/aversion to water. Hence why even when the jets were so tame that tournament he looked like he was about to drown, and had nothing left for the Wall Lift.
Keitaro did the same thing in 36 (according to his post-tournament Instagram post, we obviously didn’t see his run) and he timed out as well

Iketani I think was trying to use his legs to rest on the bar as his grip was about to go (hence why he failed immediately afterwards), but that would’ve 100% resulted in a DQ. Speaking of Iketani, his lack of training for Sasuke showed in more recent tournaments as I think his attempt on the Body Prop (16), Double Salmon Ladder (27), Rolling Escargot (28), Rolling Hill (33), and Wing Slider (37) all come fairly close to worst attempts on those respective obstacles imo. No, it wasn't a DQ. Iketani attempt *and succeed in doing so* that technique seconds before he failed. No DQ. It really just that he fail to keep his grip tight for the second time and, bam, he hit the water.

Yeah I didn’t say it was a DQ.
My point was that had he done that and cleared I don’t think it would’ve been fair to DQ him if he had rested halfway down the track. It’s like giving himself an extra rest point when there are set rest points for everyone on Stage 3.

Yo Takahashi on wall lift, he barely made it past stage 2 due to him just not being able to lift the wall for the life of him.

I'd say Junpei Morita was worse on the Wall Lift. I'm amazed he even got the third wall up given how badly he struggled.

There’s been objectively worse attempts on the Wall Lift but those were mainly since the Backstream was introduced which made the obstacle way harder due to both exhaustion and the slip from hands being wet.
Hence if we’re talking overall worst then I’d go with Ryo in 28 given that he took 20+ seconds to clear only the first wall due to getting crushed. But obvs both Morita and Takashi didn’t have any of those handicaps like wet hands and the prior obstacles they completed would’ve been way less taxing on stamina and strength etc. Takashi’s technique was defo awful as he almost tried to lift the wall while facing away from it.....
