Hi guys, long time no see (on this forum).
Some of you may have noticed that in the last 24 hours, a decently sized Ninja Warrior channel vanished from Youtube. Matchups were unmatched, Top 10s became Top 0s, and histories will now go unwritten.
This was the work of TBS.
Last week, 10+ copyright strikes were simultaneously filed against videos on my channel, and the channel itself was scheduled for termination.
These strikes were completely baseless, as my videos have only ever used Sasuke footage in a manner that constitutes fair use - short clips, in a transformative manner that goes beyond simply reuploading content. However, in Japan, the concept of fair use simply does not exist - leading to fraudulent claims such as these.
Ordinarily, I would've fought these strikes without a second thought, but the timing of them in my personal life and mental state (especially being in my final year of uni) have sapped my resolve to stand up to TBS' antics. Simply put, I have no time or energy to go through a faceless appeals process right now, made worse by my declining motivation as a content creator overall. TBS’ attacks could not have happened at a less ideal time.
My drive for creating videos isn't what it used to be, and the declining popularity of the channel overall has only exacerbated matters. An additional nail in the coffin came in the form of "that" controversy last year, which motivated me to remove a huge number of videos on my channel that contained undue praises. I had to do the right thing and effectively abandon hundreds of hours of effort, an incredibly difficult thing to do.
Maybe I'll make another, better channel someday, but for now, I'm going to use this as an opportunity to take a break from Ninja Warrior content. I've archived some of the videos I'm most proud of, so at least the content isn't completely gone forever. Take that as a "consolation" if you care enough.
I want to give a sincere thank you to everybody who has supported my channel over the years - you have made my time in the Ninja Warrior community special. I'll continue to watch and follow ninja, but for now, my time making videos is at an end. You've all been amazing.
