The air date is known in advance before taping. At least then you can get word of mouth out, build a buzz, and make it a can't-miss event. Commercials can follow after the taping, but getting the faces out there you want promoting the event helps as well. I know they do this at Muscle Park but going beyond there to other locations should have some benefits.

scnoi....as far as your earlier comments, I guess we'll just agree to disagree and just leave it at thatr. I'm not going to play this juvenile game of comebacks so many here love.
But I will say that I can't understand why Kane was a star of the show and ther ratings went way down because of him. He only made 5 appearances and, other than #8, really never was a threat to complete the course. I just can't see many Japanese fans watching the show the show for him alone. And to be honest, if perople are watching the show just to see a certain athlete, entertainer, celebrity etc, then perhaps they aren't real SASUKE fans. I want to see the show survive, but not at the expense of making SASUKE a farce.

By the way, thanks to everyone for voting and proving that there are several factots which can influence the show (despite what certain poeple may think). It's great that we can all share our opinions though....

Lars, I give two of the most intelligent and thoughtful posts and you say it's juvenile, well done. Going back to Kane, he did attract an audience, any well known star would. Him doing well did well for the show. He was the face of the show, and his likeness was featured in several games. Plus, he always beat the First Stage and always had a high number, thus he wasn't just an average competitor, he was one of the people always featured. At that time, he was probably in the top 5 of most popular people. His departure did affect some fans, but it was more that Kinniku Banzuke went off the air that SASUKE's ratings went down. Both are around the same time period.

I know there are people more knowledgable than I about this, but I believe that both Kane and Oomori/O(o)saru were the public faces of Kinniku Banzuke. Who can Sasuke say is their public face? Wacky? Sato? Miyazaki? It's definitely none of the All-Stars.

There are so many young no-it-alls on this board who cannot have a mature, intelligent discussion. Thanks for your points about Kane. I agree with your assessment...
