Who was your favourite non-All-Star competitor from each era of the show? Each era being: - SASUKE 1-4 - SASUKE 5-8 - SASUKE 9-17 - SASUKE 18-27 - SASUKE 28-37

1-4: Kane, Miura Eichii & Ken Hasagawa 5-8: Kane 9-17: Shinji & Asaoka 18-27: Levi, Koji & Kongu 28-37: Yusuke & Tada
I tried to stick to one competitor for era but it was just to hard for me, except for 5-8. Also hopefully you don't mind me adding some shin/morimoto sedai.

Not at all. Thanks for sharing.
Mine are probably... 1-4: Akira Omori 5-8: This one is really hard to be honest as it was mainly only Takeda, Shingo and Yamada who stood out.... I guess Kane as well? 9-17: Agree with you there. Both were terribly underrated as well given that the former almost made the final on his first attempt, and the latter did make the Final. 18-27: Probably Okuyama for me. The guy looks incredibly calm and stoic yet got through some seriously tough stages (like SASUKE 20 Stage 1, and SASUKE 26 Stages 1 and 2); also he put the All-Stars to shame by being consistent well into his 40s. I think Koji and Kongu were awesome as well, but I never liked Levi as I always felt he was super fake in front of the camera and showed off a fair bit. 28-37: Jun Sato for his consistency

SASUKE 1-4: Travis Allen Schroeder. It was unbelievable to see how brute force carried him through the spider walk and allowed him to destroy walls. Amazing he cleared cliffhanger with the weight he carried.
SASUKE 5-8: Kane Kosugi. To be honest, there aren't many options but his run in Sasuke 8 really stands out and it seemed like he had a very calm persona like Okuyama which I like. Interestingly, in Sasuke 6 after the body prop fail, he said we will keep competing until he clears the third stage. Well, he fulfilled that.
SASUKE 9-17: Tough one, I have three. Yamada Koji - he improved his third stage results each time he competed. A real shame he failed metal spin in 17. Honorable mention goes to Nagasaki Shinsuke for being the first to clear pipe slider in 4 tournaments and Naoki Iketani for very memorable early runs in Sasuke 10 and 11 but then he faded away as results became worse and worse.
SASUKE 18-27: Kongu for redemption in Sasuke 24 together with his reaction and that emotional music playing over. I liked Okuyama for similar reasons, too.
SASUKE 28-37: Definitely Morimoto. The Nagano of modern times.

I forgot about Koji Yamada actually. Controversially I think he could’ve made the Final in SASUKE 17 where he would’ve had a good chance at victory because of his rope climbing skills.
I liked Kane but I did find him insanely intense at times. Like in SASUKE 8 I’m pretty sure I didn’t see him smile once. Even when he cleared the Third Stage he let out a roar then just looked angry again lol

I think Kane smiled for a moment when Jovtchev cleared with 0.00 seconds left. That roar though:) I think only Kongu beats that, maybe Shunsuke comes close. I wonder what Asa would've done...

Kane has by far the biggest arc out of anyone who's competed, went from Japanese Power Ranger to Pro Sportsman no.1 winner, to a star on SASUKE, to falling out with Monster9 and nowadays a Twitch Streamer.
Never forget Shane though, if only he passed that dang prop.

I think Kong is probably #1 candidate to have been an All-Star out of the non-All-Star competitors, due to his experience, age, consistency. If only he actually competed more during the Nagano era. Given his performance in SASUKE 16 he would've definitely done well.
