1.He's been charged, but has it been proven yet? Why does NBC "sever all ties" before a court ruling? What if the judge will rule not guilty? How does it work in the US? 2.The alleged victim made a complaint to police in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, last year, when she was 19, saying she and Drechsel had multiple sexual encounters when she was 15 to 17 years old [...] They continued speaking with each other until June 2019 - Wow, it's awfully convenient to do it after he won the million.. 1. Read how Arsenette describe it to me in previous page. 2. **** you. I would bet that if it was your daughter/sister who suffer the same thing, you would be the first one to convince them to report to the police. Disgusting behaviour from you.

I'm curious how they are going to edit the broadcast when it comes out. {Spoiler} Given that the format for the upcoming season is going to be a team format, it's going to be very hard for them to completely ignore Drew because 1) His team is likely to finish high on the leaderboard if not win the whole thing 2) They may end up cutting his entire team from the broadcast as well. If the producers are lucky, Drew's team may not finish high on the leaderboard so they may just show their results without airing their run. Regardless, its going to require some editing. My guess is that the team would simply be DQ'd (and all cut from there). In a recent PUBG Esports tournament, two teams had under aged players (just simply not old enough to legally play the game) and they both got disqualified and lost all prize money and placement from the tournament. The first team it happened to had it occur after the first day and they were simply just removed from the competition, even if it meant they had 15 teams playing a 16 team game. I'd say the show would make do and do everything in their power to not show him and his affiliations.

Spent the last day reading everyone's comments on the various social media platforms. There seem to be a lot more questions about the process. It's a fair question given since when do people think about law and it's application and of course those who are foreign to this country. SMF is a global community and Sasuke/ANW is as well. So what happens now? He's being held without bail (meaning he can't buy out his freedom) since a judge denied him that labeling him a crime risk. I'll try to explain below (I'll probably mess up so bare with me and ask general legal questions which hopefully I have answers). 1. This is a federal case. It's United States vs. Drew Drechsel. That means a federal crime has been committed. Meaning it's the country and not the state nor the city is suing him. How? As soon as Drew (in Connecticut at the time) and Victim #1 (minor aged victims are shielded from releasing their names out of privacy concerns is from New Jersey) met across state lines (meaning multiple state jurisdiction was violated meaning the USA can step in and assume Jurisdiction and not New Jersey, nor Connecticut nor Florida (where he is from and was arrested on Tuesday) then the case is now Federal and the FBI is involved. The judge in the first hearing they call "preliminary hearing" determines the case against him and irons out if the defendant (Drew in this case) is being formally charged with a crime, they read it out to him in detail and accept any formal pleas if any (he did not during the initial booking from what it seems. His lawyer released a statement saying Drew will plead not guilty presumably once he arrives in NJ to be arraigned by the Federal court. 2. Jurisdiction is discussed so with the official filing out of New Jersey it is determined this is a federal case and they announce they will extradite him to New Jersey where he will stand trial. Jurisdiction is important because we have "double jeopardy" clauses in our constitution. Meaning because the USA is going to take him to trial first neither NJ nor Connecticut (or any of the other states) cannot retry him for the same crime should he be found guilty (double jeopardy applies to sentences not indictments) can try him again for the same crime(s) under state law. Whichever goes first is the one that has jurisdiction since Victim #1 filed a police report in Cherry Hill (local), New Jersey (State) but the events happened across state lines (both in person and via computer) it becomes a Federal (USA) matter nullifying jurisdiction of the states. Hopefully that explains jurisdiction and why the FBI was involved. Double jeopardy does NOT apply if the same crime was committed involving foreign nationals (both Drew and Victim #1 are US citizens). Jurisdiction would fall on the person filing first if that were the case to be followed by the next sovereign (i.e. country). So for example if this all happened in Japan then Japan can sue Drew if Japan chose to do so since they have child predator safety laws as well. It didn't so it stays here in the USA as a federal case. 3. Then the Prosecution (this case the Justice department - specifically Federal Office of the Attorney General) requests to the judge to hold him until extradition and deny him bail for fear he will flee either to another state or even out of the country. He does have a valid passport (thanks to Sasuke) that can be revoked so the international is an issue. Judge agrees with the Prosecution, labels him a flight risk and danger to society (child endangerment laws) so his bail is revoked. He is brought back to the jail he was brought from for the preliminary hearing, officially booked with a mugshot and inmate number and he is currently still in Florida awaiting extradition the last time I checked the website for the status. All of this information is online information that is open to the public as a matter of law. 4. Once extradition is complete and he is moved into Federal custody out of New Jersey (since the victim is a NJ resident and she filed the complaint last year) he will wait in jail for his time in court. The trial itself (what people see on TV) is the last step in the process. Once he is in NJ he has a right to defend himself and his legal team gets to see all of the information levied against him so that they can prepare to defend him based on the evidence provided. This is called the discovery stage and this takes MONTHS. At this time both defendant and plaintiff share information and ONLY that information that is shared is admissible in court at the time of trial. So this back and forth is what lengthens the time. 5. Here is a code that dictates each section ( this is one example but it's legal language so many will find it difficult to read. I was a legal secretary for 11 years so I'm trained to read it. That said I think you'll get the general gist in first couple of paragraphs.) So now that the information is public (legal definition) Drew's team has 70 days to file stuff in his defense. 6. Once all of that back and forth with filings and motions and whatnot then the trial begins. Usually in Federal from my own memory the time to trial can be as little as a year to 2 years. Average for a state trial is roughly the same while local trials (city or county) are upwards to 3 years waiting for an opening for a judge to be assigned to the case and finally go to trial. 7. All of this can change if the Prosecution drops the case (defendant doesn't have a right to drop the case. They can petition the court to dismiss the case but none of that happened yet and generally speaking Federal cases are different where evidence is amassed ahead of arrest - sometimes up to a year. Local cases they arrest first THEN start discovery and at the local level this is why many cases are dismissed. Feds (in general) already have a solid case of evidence to support a trial occurring. In general "settle out of court" rarely happens. If they do it is often if not always tied to a "plea deal" in exchange for something advantageous to the Prosecutor (United States Justice Department). That usually does not include money. It usually is something tangible (using this as a hypothetical case - Drew providing names of victims which are not covered by this case since only 1 victim filed first. 8. So "in general" he can plead guilty later (which is his right to change your plea up to even the day of trial) in exchange for a lighter sentence (he's facing life in prison for this specific case but that would also open up multiple concurrent trials with each victim getting their chance in court. IF this was the case he would still be in jail serving time for the first case while handling any successive ones. Or, this could change into a trial with multiple victims being added to the original complaint. 9. And finally (because I saw people ask in social media) Child sex predators do not face the death penalty (Supreme Court asserted that in 2007) so the most he can be hit with (and is charged) is life in prison without parole.

It goes without saying, but this really jeopardizes the entire sport and community. Its very clear in the documents that he did this to far more than one girl -and I'm really hoping there weren't other members doing the same thing.
It is beyond gutting and frustrating and enraging.
ANW has always sold itself as being inspirational and, for lack of a better word, wholesome. As a society we've made our peace with letting football players commit all sorts of crimes, large and small.
But ANW has been different, and I'm really not sure how they glue this back together with any real skill.
NBC needs to acknowledge this, on-air, and directly. and we need to hear about ways they're protecting everyone in the community - especially those youngest

I do wonder how they'll address that someone got another Total Victory. Will they say only Isaac won? Would they acknowledge Geoff as one of the winners If they want to say there were 2 people that achieved Total Victory so far I think it would great to acknowledge Geoff as one of the persons that achieved Total Victory before. Geoff should be acknowledged 100%. But as much as I can no longer tolerate Drew to any extent, saying something like "We've had two winners, being Isaac Caldiero and Geoff Britten" is simply incorrect and will probably lead to younger fans questioning the situation more than they need to. I would say just stay away from the issue where possible (it never has come up all that much anyway).

I think the other guy just means that the heinous things we just found out about him don't fit the way we used to view him. It seems out-of-character to us, but unfortunately, THIS is his character

"innocent until proven guilty" can go right out the window here. The report itself is damning, and paints a very ugly picture

This is such a shame. I even talked with him about his gyms and past work at the Wolfpack Tour in May 2017 This pretty much ruined a lot of my favorite runs. Wasn't that Thomas Stillings? When Gil failed the Cliffhanger in Stage 3, Kristine starts interviewing him only to have Drew butt in. Kristine called him in.

www.nj.com/news/2020/08/american-ninja-warrior-champion-faces-state-and-federal-charges-for-alleged-sexual-misconduct-with-nj-teen.htmlPerhaps, the least of his worries but it seems like NJ is going after him as well. I'm not that familiar with legal jargon or how it would work having both federal and state going after for essentially the same crime as in double jeopardy but it's for the courts to decide. All this is for the courts to decide. But there seems to be more than enough evidence that there was naked pictures and videos of at least one child. The porn part seems like an easy verdict. At the bare minimal he should face jail and become a registered sex offender for that.

Hmm.. jurisdiction goes to the feds as he's listed on the jail site as a Federal inmate and is already formally charged by the Feds. My only guess is that Cherry Hill wants a crack at him (Cherry Hill is a city (local) in New Jersey (state) where Victim #1 first brought charges. Explains why he hasn't been moved from Florida. Cherry Hill and Newark (where the main Justice Department office for New Jersey (the one that posted the complaint online is located) must be trying to iron out a deal. If Cherry Hill creates new charges that are not covered by the statute the Feds are after then we have 2 trials. Will be interesting to see. Unless the unthinkable of Cherry Hill having 2 plaintiffs.

I can't help it but to think that this incident somewhat avenges arsenette for the SASUKE 32 incident.
Looks like TBS no longer need to give him attention anymore should TBS be informed by now and dropped him from the international competitor's list, blacklisted.
I know the link between those two incidents are far fetched and I definitely have no malicious intent to insult all parties involved in both incidents and I deeply apologise if I do.

I know the link between those two incidents are far fetched and I definitely have no malicious intent to insult all parties involved in both incidents and I deeply apologise if I do. I would be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't think about it. I have been reached out by my friends in Japan though... and it was one of the first things they asked. For them this is so surreal it's impossible to understand. Some believe it to be a hoax until TBS announces it. It's too big to be arrested by the FBI they see in movies. Those who at least understand "arrested" are depressed and even got a few "I feel terrible for looking up to him". Seems everyone is in the same boat. They literally idolized Drew as a superhuman. Both times I was there in person with Drew around they hounded us to try to communicate with him. Poor Jin was commandeered to translate for hours at a time. Looking back on the whole thing (being we were in Japan during the alleged time period - 2015 and 2016) it literally made my stomach turn knowing that infamous Sasuke 32 he was definitely in the middle of this. Knowing what happened back then and comparing to now.. I'm not going to lie.. it's making me sick. Adding what TBS did on top.. now knowing they know now.. yeah. Though with something like this it is literally impossible to say "I told you so". Everyone can agree he was cocky and he rubbed me the wrong way and it was an open secret he slept around.. but in no decent world do we ever even want to believe you are talking to a pedophile. Womanizer yes.. but pedophile. No way in hell. Hopefully soon after careful legal advice they get a statement out. Doing mild contacts (press related) I'm told international lawyers are involved to decide what to do next. I'm positive everyone was blind-sighted by this. We know Inui knows.. he posted about it yesterday already. That said that's the most I'll get involved. I'm enjoying retirement and in light of this REAL happy I'm gone. I can't get blamed for it again.
