We all know Akira Omori as the 'Monkey' who made the Final Stage in the first 3 tournaments? I'm wondering if he could've eventually achieved Total Victory if he had had a better string of luck from SASUKE 4 and if he'd started training for SASUKE like Yamada and Yamamoto did.
He was clearly the strongest competitor at the time due to his unmatched performance so on one hand I think he defo had the potential to finish the Final Stage if he'd started practicing on SASUKE obstacles.
But, on the other hand, he did compete in the easiest era of the show, especially where Stage 3 wasn't the monumental uphill battle that it is today. He'd also never got the chance to face tough obstacles like the Cliffhanger, the revised Pipe Slider with the jump, or the Body Prop etc. I sometimes think that he only made the Final because the course was much easier, hence why he struggled after SASUKE 3.
Let me know what you think.

Worth bearing in mind that across SASUKE 1-3 his performance on the final stage got worse with each tournament despite the stage itself not changing, but is that something that could be fixed with training? Perhaps.
Ultimately Omori was a professional comedian, which doesn't strike me as an occupation that lends itself to fitting in physical training, and I imagine, like Shingo, he would have suffered as the course moved away from agility and more and more into upper body power.
If he was going to do it, I think he would've had to do it in SASUKE 4, and I don't see that happening, so I'd say no.

As much as I want him to succeed, the answer is no. Sadly, he didn't had what it takes to overcome Rolling Maruta *but strangely did it well on arguably the worst ever Rolling Maruta in term of balance* and Jump Hang. And he had yet to face Cliffhanger when he made three consecutive Final Stage attempts.

Both of you make valid points.
I put unsure because I felt like we never really got to see his upper body strength in action; I reckon he could've got past the Cliffhanger if he'd trained for it, given that he seemed to have decent adaptability to obstacles (given that he made the final constantly with zero specific training).
But at the same time, his repeated slip-ups on Stage 1 do put doubt in my mind. Stage 2 he would've been fine with because the original Stage 2 was arguably the hardest Stage 2 up until Shin-Sasuke and he never failed that stage. Stage 3 really depends because as I mentioned, while the original stage was pitifully easy, he also completed it with zero trouble so that's no indication on how he would perform on a more upper-body intensive Stage 3.
With respect to his Final Stage runs, it was raining in SASUKE 2 and he also adopted a completely different technique to his first run that clearly didn't work. In SASUKE 3 he adopted the same technique as in 2, which I don't know why as it clearly wasn't effective. He could've definitely made progress on rope climbing if he trained a good technique, because while he did run out of stamina it was mainly a product of a bad/lack of technique. Rope climbing can exhaust even the strongest of athletes if they don't do it properly.
