Just wanted to get your thoughts on which competitor was held back the most from their fullest potential in sasuke by injuries.
For me I would say that person is nakata. If not for the accident, he'd be getting to thr third stage all the way until sasuke 17 at least.
kanno is like a close second. He already had issues with his shoulder and then he got his leg injured with that foolish jump off the rolling hill in sasuke 33. And he's already 33, I don't see him being able to get to the third stage on a consistent basis.
Interested to hear your thoughts.

Honestly I think Shingo takes it. Considering SASUKE 7 and 23 has his shoulder lash out during the beginning of stages doesn’t allow us to see how he could really do. 7 I still doubt he would make it since it was the tourney the final stage came alight but he could have made a huge impact even still. And 23 was his last chance for the forseeeable future to make stage 3. He just hasn’t been the same since. SASUKE 5 also saw this. If he made the final then, he could have maybe won in 7 so he had experience to see him through! Can you imagine? Shingo second winner...

Nakata for me. He was an trained athlete and had a consistent clear rate then boom. Gone overnight.

Surpised to see that Nakata got the most votes so far. He had a serious accident, I completely understand it but SASUKE-wise I think that he showed his full potential. His body just wasn't built for Stage 3. His progress was miniscule tournament after tournament. I don't think that he could have done any better, especially after the new era began.

I'll say Bunpei, as he's (IMO) the best competitor to never win the whole thing. Things could have been very different.

In terms of being injured and it having a permanent effect on their ability, Nakata. Would he have ever won, likely not, but he was one of the most consistent competitors ever. Only failed the 1st Stage twice in his nine appearances. That's a solid competitor. If you can't grip anything, you have no chance.
Kanno's injuries have wasted his potential given how early he peaked, but he still has a Final Stage appearances under his belt and is one of the few who even beat the original CCH. Unfortunate luck aside now, he's had his moments in the past.
Shingo and Takeda are in weird spots because while Shingo never got anywhere close to the Final after 7, his clumsiness/desperation moves was more of a deterrent than his shoulder, outside of 23. And Shingo is technically the best performing All-Star in the Rising era. In regards to Takeda, sure, I'll say his shoulder problems probably lowered his overall strength over time, but when you've had as many chances as he has had, you have to account for how bad his mental block is, especially during his last great stretch between 21-24. Ironically, he could just never get the hang of Hang Climbing; he beat it twice, but he always wasted too much time on it.

Nakata's injuries always struck me in that I was shocked at how the injuries basically made him physically unable to complete certain obstacles e.g. arm rings or the salmon ladder. If he was around in sasuke 14 and didn't have injuries I'd say he probably would have a much easier time on the curtain cling in stage 3. He'd probably be relieved at not having to deal with the lamp grasper. But it's something we'll never know
For shingo it's half and half. For each time he struggled with injury (sasuke 5 esp because he bandaged his shoulder and pushed through with it) you can bring up an instance where his decision making / lapse of concentration did him in (eg sasuke 22 pwnage by a plank)
