Was watching Kanno Hitoshi's first stage run, Is it just me noticing, or was he just barely passing obstacles? Not saying he's bad, but first stage just doesn't seem to be his best stage. And if he competed in 20, that means he didn't pass stage one then.

Kanno's only competed twice. Sasuke 20 was very hard. 97 people failed the first stage. You can't blame him for failing. Yuuji also competed and he failed the flying chute.
As for him barely passing obstacles, it doesn't matter if he almost fails it. He had the second best time in the first stage.
As for now, he needs to compete in more tournaments to see how strong he is on the first stage.

No one knows where he failed in 20. Hell, until a bit after 22 we didn't even know he competed in 20.

Nagano for losing his balance? Yamada for not being able to pass the jumping spider? It was his fault for not ebing good enough then

Well he definitely came close to messing up a few obstacles. 1: Jumping Spider: barely hung on. Then again, if he practices, he should be fine. Okuyama and Lee have shown poor form in the past, yet in Sasuke 22, they both cleared easily. 2: Warped Wall: Seemed like he just ran up the wall and was fast enough to reach the top without jumping, although, I don't know how many times he can do that. 3: Slider Jump: Went a bit slow down the tracks, and when he was climbing down the net, his foot slipped and he almost touched the water.
He did compete in Sasuke 20 (#1976). If he failed somewhere like the Half-Pipe Attack, it's definitely understandable as everyone failed there that day. Any better than that should prove that he is a good competitor based on how well everyone else did.

We'll just have to see, i mean Washimi got by twice and now his runs are cut. If Kanno just keeps the same consistancy as say Okuyama or Lee Enchi then he may be fine, i mean this is a different stage 1 naganos only 60% on it so take that into consideration. As close as he was to failing as long as he's careful and trains i see great days ahead Kanno Hitoshi.

One thing about Kanno - he just graduated from University this Spring. And it's a university that specializes in Physical Education (it's where Shunsuke Nagasaki is currently attending) where he could train - the clips of him climbing the rope are probably from school. What they said about him either during Navi or the main show - I forget which - was that he focused on training exclusively for SASUKE in the time leading up to his appearance.
March - April is when the school and work year end and begin in Japan so he would have had lots of time to prepare for 22 without having to worry about school (it would have been a done deal by then) or a job (ditto - you start in April but the job hunt starts much earlier and most people have their jobs lined up well before their final year unless they need some sort of licensing).
So it's entirely possible that Kanno caught lightning in a bottle and everything sort of fell into place for him for 22.

Kanno may have had trouble with stage 1 at times, but he demolished stages 2 and 3 until the Spider Flip. He is very young and has lots of time to improve and train. Anyone can fail stage 1 at almost anytime if there's a lack of concentration or just bad luck. If Nagano can fail stage 1, then anyne can.
