Hey, I had the flu in full force last week and, although I've been pretty much better since Sunday, I still feel like I have less strength than I did before.
It's not a huge noticeable difference, but there's still a bit of change (which I'm hoping and praying is only there due to my sickness).
One example I can give is with my pull-ups. I'm usually able to do 12 chin-ups and 12 pull-ups in a row without letting go of the bar, but today when I tried I instead did 12 chin-ups, then six pull-ups and then the other six. So instead of doing all 24 together, I had to break them into three groups.
So, my question is do you think this relates to my flu symptoms or am I just weak now?

If you're still kind of fighting off the flu, thats totally normal. you'll probably be fine in a week or two.

Combination of the flu and not training for a while. Start small and you'll build your way back up to 100% in no time.

I don't think you would have lost any power over the time you were ill. You might need a bit of time to get back into the routine but I think it will mainly be the flu.

Thank you guys. Still severely worse than usual today. Really starting to feel it, too. I knew I hated not achieving my goals when I want to in the past, but this feeling right now might be the worst I've ever felt. It sucks!

I lost a good amount of my bicep muscle mass and grip strength during cross country season and I'm still feeling it right now. Just starting to get my confidence back up within the last week. You'll get your strength back.

Well, I got 12 chin-ups and 6 pull-ups today. Halfway back! I'm still quite far, but you have to think positively, and I'm trying it. I did hold an iron-chair for three minutes earlier which made me happy

Just an update, I'm now at 12 chin-ups, 10 pull-ups and have gotten a bit closer to other stuff again. Very relieved!
Thanks for the support, everyone!

Just my (hopefully) final update - I feel almost completely back to normal now. I've felt some cold symptoms these past couple mornings, but I'm hoping that's just a small, unrelated detail and I'm not getting the flu again!

The flu (thankfully) hasn't come back to get me, but I do have another "Is this normal?" question.
This time, I'm just concerned that I'm losing it for no reason at all.
Here's what's concerning me:
I can usually do 25 pull-ups (only done it on a standard pull-up bar).
I'm visiting Florida now, and my bar broke anyway, and I've instead been hanging from a branch on a Maple tree to do my pull-ups. The branch isn't very straight (so one hand is probably six inches above the other) and shakes so I think that might make it harder, but I'm still worried because the first time I tried (two days ago) I only got 15 and today only 14. To give the full scenario, I had run eight miles and done a one-minute Cliffhanger deadhang before my attempts (something I don't usually do before pull-upd), so maybe that is a factor.
So my question is: Do you think this all adds-up and makes sense or do you think I have lost a bit of strength?

I don't know about you, but if I run a large amount and try to do other stuff, my body is quite drained. Also, if the trees thicker then normal, I think that may have something to do with it. Don't worry.

Thank you for the help! I also have a cold now (which believe-it-or-not I'm happy about as it proves I've probably not actually lost too much ground), which, even though it wasn't horrible last week, has to explain some of it. Si peace!

Bump, but we're back to this now. But this wasn't the flu, and I'm feeling even more out of it than before. I'm afraid it's not even related to being sick More tempted to give up on this than ever before now...

How often are you training each day and how many times a week? Also have you been sick at all the past month?
