I don't want to bring up a (hopefully) dead topic, but I just read the now locked thread about Ultimask8er, and I'd just like to clear it up a bit for the record.
Aaron (Ultimask8er) has been a supporter of my efforts to enter Sasuke and given me lots of encouragement since my first entry in ANC2. I had never met him in person, but he was an online friend.
Aaron sent me a PM after I was announced as being the winner of ANC4. He congratulated me and told me about his plans to go to Japan. I had already sent in my guest list requests to TBS so I told him I'd forward his contact info to the people I was in contact with from G4 and see what I could do, but he'd be taking a big risk flying out and I couldn't guarantee he'd be able to get in.
The morning of Sasuke, Levi and I were walking down to the registration booth and I heard someone yelling from a group of people near the parking lot (it stood out because it was in English) "HEY DAVID!!! LEVI!!!!" I didn't recognize him at first from his youtube vids until he introduced himself as Ultimask8er. I was pretty surprised to say the least to see him there because I had tried calling the phone number he gave me and it wasn't working, so I figured he didn't go through with it.
I pointed him out to one of the G4 producers and also someone from TBS that spoke English and made sure they knew he was a friend of mine so that they'd let him sit in the stands. I actually even told them the whole deal about him being a fan and flying from America, so there was absolutely no deception going on.
During the 2 hour setup for stage 4 we hung out a bit and snapped some photos on the partially dismantled stage 1. He was very polite, positive and respectful of everyone. When I heard how he had been living while he was there, I gave him money for food and bus fare and some leftover chicken from the G4 bus to make sure he got home safe and healthy!(he didn't ask for it, but I insisted he take it)
I hope this will put this discussion to bed and clear up the confusion.

Wow, thanks so much David for the clarification and how nice that you helped him, you're awesome...helps to hear the story straight from someone involved rather than from others who are running on sheer uninformed opinion and just blasting away at other people's character. I'm glad there was no deception and he has now been "cleared" of all of the accusations by someone who knows the whole story. Thanks again for letting us know what happened.

The silence is deafening isn't it... In her defense, she's taking a break from these boards, not so much Sasuke. Also, that interview isn't a board exclusive. I also agree that some of the words said, weren't the greatest especially with the information given. That said, Arsenette is the one person that would know the most about what goes on with Monster9/TBS considering she knows people that are in contact with the All-Stars and people who have done work for the company. So, what she was saying about how Americans are looked at in TBS/Monster9 is pretty accurate considering she does have connections. However, it is good to know the story as told by a person involved. The problems arose when she started accusing Ultimask8er of things he didn't do, like forcing his way in, being rude and obnoxious, etc..

Arsenette's anger was due to the fact that she was unaware that he watched the taping as a (semi)-invited guest of David. She was uninformed, so I understand her reaction. If she had known all this backstory, I doubt she would have reacted the way she did.

but the point is she could have checked with David first instead of accusing him like that, she even says in the thread that she's in email contact with him...why bash someone when you have a source who could clarify...then she generalized to an entire generation...

Guys, it was inappropriate for people to bash Oti when he wasn't here, it was inappropriate for people to bash Ultimask8er in the previous thread, again here, it's inappropriate to bash someone who you know isn't here.

I got an email saying this was here. First off I'm still a bit surprised at David for bringing things up after the fact (try 3 weeks after our email correspondence). Especially since there was only ONE person that was pissed that Ulti even came to Sasuke. And that was me. I emailed David on April 6th, 2009 and between the arguments we had like 3-4 emails total. Most of it was David blasting me for jumping to conclusions. The argument then shifted and stopped when I kept referring to something that David had obviously missed (even though he posted on the thread...). I'm annoyed that in this thread that David started he decided again to ignore the critical piece of evidence that started my outrage at Ulti's selfish and arrogant behavior - most of all.. it's illegal what he was planning to do on February 18, 2009 .. forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=115339 - the fact that Sk8ater bought his tickets and announced to the G4 board members he planned to crash Sasuke over 2 weeks before David even knew he was in the finals let alone won ANC4 in March, 2009. forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=116872 Whether you think this is a cool or not it is illegal to crash a closed set. You do that in the USA and you can get arrested for it. Even in the thread congratulating David.. he was already boarding a plane to Japan and was hoping to use David to get past security! David hasn't even OKAYED it yet to use him and he was already announcing he was going to Sasuke anyway. I even brought this up to David (in April) and he was in shock that Ulti said that (way back in February).. which of course meant that Sk8ter used him to get past security. In fact these were his exact words to me in email. "Back to Ulti, yeah I read that forum thread about how he was planning on going. That was actually before I found out I was the winner, so he PM'd me after that and I told him I'd do what I could to help him get on. If it was someone else who won who knows what he would have done heh?" I didn't have a chance to put this on the thread on this board since by that point the thread was locked and everyone moved on to the latest and greatest thing to complain and attack. That was the end of the argument as I thought it would be. David seemed surprised he was used but was still friends with Ulti. But nothing changes the fact that Ulti already devised a plan and posted it in February - heck he even changed it a few times (the whole thing is online for those who want to bother reading it between that thread and David's winning thread) everything from going to TBS to show his plans for a great course to offering his services to the Japanese trials.. (of course David had no issues and even encouraged him to jump the fence at Sasuke.. which is of course.. illegal) to finally just asking at the gate to see if he would be let in by lying that he was part of the G4 crew (remember this is before the ANC4 announcement and David had no idea he was the winner and at that moment he was NOT attached to any G4 friends list). It seems everyone totally forgot this part and it was perfectly fine to b**** at me for remembering stupid details like this. Oh wait.. I forgot.. he was actually encouraged to do this by the forum members since the thought it was cool to crash the course in the first place. I'm also more shocked at Oti since it was him who had words at the end of the thread to Ulti about not being cool for what he was planning to do.. I'm happy ya'll are friends with Ulti now and nothing will change that - even the truth. But there is no need to throw me under the bus because I called it how it was. David was used at the last second because he was Ulti's ticket to Sasuke without "crashing". Had it not been David who had a history with him the story would have been much different and the bandwagon might have been jumping differently. What if this was ANC3 and he tried to use Luci? How about Brian or Levi, or Mark - all of which to my knowledge do not have any history with Ulti? I wish David didn't bring it up again and in the matter in which he conveniently left the reason of my outrage. I could care less if someone is invited from the boards by someone in ANC. In fact I would love if if they did that more and were public about it. Doing blogs, a day in the life of Sasuke with pictures and videos - sorta like what happened in Ninja FanFest thingie in Santa Monica. What I was most pissed about was that he did this in front of all of your faces and latched on to David for the ride of his life.. I thought the issue was over but I guess the attempt to somehow restore Ulti's reputation as "not a user" when he clearly was and was so public about had to include destroying my reputation as well. And for the record. The second translation of the interview was a direct result of me me asking for it to be done for all of us. I've been waiting for this interview for a month when the producer told me he was coming to the show. It's obvious that the first date didn't pan out and the interview was delayed to April (he was expected to be there before Sasuke). If you bother getting off your butts and emailing people in Japan they might *gasp* give you an email back telling what's going on and then people can confuse you for a know it all a well.. nah.. but that would alienate you from your friends. I asked one of the mods to put this post in and lock the thread again. It's clear no one wants my opinion on the subject especially after ya'll read it so I won't bother coming back for the STFU comments that will follow. I already know what everyone is going to say but I couldn't leave without saying my peace and showing why I was pissed to begin with. Nothing annoys me more than having my reputation trashed for no good reason. I've been wrong on a bunch of things but this was not one of them. Just sucks someone was used to somehow make an illegal act almost seem legit and cool. I hope no one in other countries (or even this one) plans to do the same since Ulti proved you can con someone to getting you on the show. This is meant for those who actually liked some of the stuff I unearthed while researching this show and sharing with people who actually were grateful I bothered going through the arduous process. And for the record I won't be coming back since my opinion on anything Sasuke doesn't matter to anyone else anymore. I'll stay on my blog. |
