After watching Sasuke 22 in its Japanese format, I've come to the conclusion that I like both the Japanese and G4 formats equally.
Before you call me terrible names (j/k), let me justify myself:
I like NW's graphics better especially since they now match the "Shin" course. They are cleaner and more professional. I also like the clock and progress bar.
I like NW's episode format better. I would like it more if they would air the episodes sooner and spread out over a couple months like an actual series.
I like Sasuke's music better. Different songs throughout and the really awesome completion song enhance the experience.
I like Sasuke's ordering better. Stage 2 and 3 were done in order and this built excitement. In Ninja Warrior, the first attempt of any stage is always a bad fail. I just assumed the Japanese version would do the same, and I was shocked to see the first attempt in Stage 2 and 3 go so well.
They both have their strong points. What do y'all think?

It bothers me how sometimes the ninja warrior subtitles say to much to quickly. For instance, when Colin Bell attempted the Log Grip, before the first drop it said Wooh! That was close. Then three seconds later we almost see Colin lose his grip. The music and ordering makes Sasuke better than Ninja Warrior, which makes it obviou who makes it the farthest.
Sasuke in my opinion is better than Ninja Warrior.

I like the NW format, without it I wouldn't have got into Sasuke in the first place, no way I would have watched a two hour (or more) obstacle course show that is mostly a lot of the same thing otherwise.
I prefer the dubbed UK version to the G4 version, because the subtitles are distracting and inaccurate. Also I find Dave Wittenberg's voice kind of annoying. And Stuart Hall is a legend.
As for now, I much prefer watching Sasuke (TBS or JET), just because I'm a die hard fan. More competitors get shown and it's in the proper order, also the atmosphere is better with the music and proper build ups and such. I understand G4 showing the competitors out of order, they have to do so for a half hour show, but there's no particular reason they should do it for the second and third stages.

My thought has always been that is you put the graphics(the grid bar of obstacles) and had actual subtitles(not made up ones/googleish ones) then its perfect leave sasuke raw and spear the 3-4 hours our over about 5-7 episodes leave the music and everything alone i hate watching it now b/c i dont here the music and the music adds drama i like how the announcers speak to, screw Dave Wittenburg. Sasuke>Ninja Warrior
and Stuart Hall> Dave Wittenburg

I think the newer NW episodes arn't as bad, and when I mean new, I really just mean 21.
I also like G4's preshow, the whole "NinjaFest" thing is great imo. I wish they would show some of the Sasuke Navi instead of just the American peeps.
But I like the feeling of waking up at 1 in the morning, and listening to the songs of Sasuke, I can't really put a finger on which ones better, NW is more for the casual, and Sasuke is more for the hardcore fan.

NW is to Sasuke what McDonalds is to Outback. Outback sucks bro. There pretty much Taco Bell in a way. But your right, its about 19 times better than McDonalds.

I agree that Sasuke is better, but come on, guys. Give Ninja Warrior the credit it deserves.
The graphics, while bulky and in the way, are a nice touch. And the subtitles? I love them. Usually. Sometimes I feel like not knowing what's going on.
Sasuke wins? Definitely. But it's not like Ninja Warrior is its retarded cousin.

Question to all: If it wasn't for Ninja Warrior, would you have been here today?
Answer to 99.9% of you: No.
With that stated, I will pour my opinion.
Obviously, it feels like that Sasuke format is better than the regular Ninja Warrior format. It has more insight info of the competitors (although we get more through Navi and other stuff), has awesome music (can't deny that), and other things that we like. Also, the subtitles and the course description shown in Ninja Warrior doesn't really get in the way. I mean, passing stage 1 doesn't make you a 'finalist'. It makes you feel more like a contest to become a ninja rather than an obstacle course named after a ninja.
However, NW has its advantages too. First of all, we are mostly Americans (citizenship wise. calm down). We have almost no patience when it comes up to the obstacle course challenges, and we live for the suspense that NW actually bring up by showing worse runs first. I have to say, G4 knows how to order the competitors that the viewers of NW won't get bored or change the channel soon. In fact, one of the reason why I got into NW was that the competitors were changing constantly in less than 2 and 1/2 minutes to show a new run. Right now, I don't like it as much since I want to get more out of it, but I still like it because it builds up suspense.
I agree to Oti 100%. Give NW the respect that it deserves, and G4 for actually formatting to a way where people would get addicted to it. Without it, we wouldn't have been here today in the forums, talking about variety of stuff. Heck, we wouldn't have live broadcasts either.
Be thankful of that.

You say that we should be thankful that G4 has taken Sasuke and turned it into Ninja Warrior, a format for Americans. But I say G4 should be thankful that they were lucky enough to happen upon and gain the rights to show Sasuke. While you bring up the point that most of us wouldn't even know about Sasuke (which is a point I'd agree with), how many of us would bother to watch G4 at all? So if anyone should be thankful, it's those at G4 for the lucky windfall that is Sasuke. I will say that while things have gotten better with the fan days event, I still think G4 isn't treating or marketing Ninja Warrior as well as it could have. ANC2 was the high point and it's got alot of work to do to get back to that point IMO.
To get back to the main topic, there are some things about NW that TBS would do well to include in their broadcasts. As was mentioned, better graphics and subtitles to help us understand what is going on. But overall, Sasuke is superior in most ways.
And one more point I will disagree with you on is this quote:
We have almost no patience when it comes up to the obstacle course challenges, and we live for the suspense that NW actually bring up by showing worse runs first.
Speaking for myself (others may agree or disagree as they wish), I'd much rather watch the runs in the order they happen and be suprised as to who makes it and who doesn't. The NW method just ruins the suspence of it all. "Oh look, it's #46 after # 3, I wonder if he'll make it across the course?" Answer, not likely. This method of "I'll read the end of the book first" doesn't do the show any favors. If you want to watch people constantly fall down, that's what Wipeout is for.

It's not because it's Ninja Warrior, though. It's because that's how we here in the states get Sasuke.
What I mean is even if Ninja Warrior didn't exist, if I saw Sasuke somehow, I'd still be hooked on it.
And I agree with Ike on just about everything he said. Good post, man.

But the fact is, is there a big chance that you have a friend in Japan who wants you to watch the show, or you just randomly come across the show out of nowhere? Unless you got that 'Insane Japanese Obstacle Course' on youtube, I still stand to my opinion. lol Oti ike, I addressed my opinion because most people here seemed to ignore the fact that G4 is actually trying to do something good for American viewers. Sure, after watching the original Sasuke version, our opinions change. I don't think that G4 was lucky to get the show, rather, G4 was desparate to boost their ratings up, so they did something right. It's like entering a contest that your friend told you about, win the competition, and not thanking your friend for informing about the contest. That's how I see this as (for some cases). Oh and ike, I agree to rest of the statement that you said. I only posted that quote because.... well, most Americans tend to.... heh.

I get what you are saying, Super. I wouldn't have ever gotten into Sasuke if it had not been for them. And it is nice to see G4 actually trying to do something with the product. But up until this point, they really just kind of crapped all over it starting with ANC3. First they turned it into a popularity contest instead of making people work for it as in ANC2(and even then alot of us weren't thrilled with the head to head races). And when they did announce the winners(I think they even bothered to give it a whole 10 seconds), it was right after showing some dumbass use a 20 foot urinal as a slip and slide. Is AOTS so insecure cuz NW gets better ratings that they have to go out of their way to belittle it?
And then ANC4 wasn't even something open to the fans. It was G4's choice. And I find it curious as to how more people from California keep getting picked over people from other states (no offense to David, Brian or Luci). And seriously, why does it take G4 2 months to edit footage from a show that originally took TBS about 10 days to edit the whole thing?
So yes, I'm grateful to G4 for introducing Sasuke to the US. But they really need to get their heads out of their a**es and promote it much better than they have in the past. Fan Day was a good start. Let's hope they realize that they do have something worth putting a good amount of effort into to make it better.

Question to all: If it wasn't for Ninja Warrior, would you have been here today? Answer to 99.9% of you: No. Actually, I would. I saw clips of Sasuke online before I even heard of Ninja Warrior, and then when I found out that Ninja Warrior was nothing more than an English dub of Sasuke, I started to watch it often. While I do admit that I absolutely love Ninja Warrior for making it alot easier for me to watch Sasuke competitions with their weekly marathons and daily 2-episodes; I still prefer the original Sasuke TBS/JET broadcast due to it's entirety in one single sitting. I find that I prefer to watch the 3 hour special as opposed to the 30 minute episodes specifically due to the fact that Ninja Warrior often goes out-of-order in it's airing of competitions. I've seen it go from the 7th competition's 1st and 2nd stages, straight to the 12 competitions 3rd stage, and back to the 7th competitions final stage.

I like Sasuke 'cause it shows lots of the competitiors while their not preforming e.g cheering for the otehr competitors, I also like hearing the people's voices. I like g4's ninja warrior because it is an exact translation of the japanese words but it's downside it you can't watch the words and the competitor at the same time and the comentator pronounces all the names wrong. I hate the UK version (and I live in the UK ) because the cmentator is in love with Nagano that's all he talks about at least in the US one the monentator never says about the competitor wherever he likes him or not he jsut says what there doing! those are my opinions, but overall Sasuek wins!
