Why did they exclude Japan from the last USA vs. the World?

In a nutshell, they went to a different event.

I don't know the details, so somebody can elaborate for me.

As I remember, the filming schedule of ANW was changed => it was conflict with an event that some members of Japan team participated => Team Japan cannot compete that year.

If you are referring to the previous season.. the Japanese were not invited. What was directly told them by NBC was "their participation is not needed as we are going in a different direction". All attempts to make it look like they declined was infuriating given that I talked to the people involved in Japan. They were not happy with the situation especially since the team that felt embarrassed the year before were training hard to come back and do better the 2nd time around. They were denied that possibility and worse they were made to look as if they didn't deserve to be invited "because they sucked". I remember having a huge argument on twitter with ANW competitors about this decision and that's the crap I got.

As for the "other event".. that was given to them weeks after once they knew their schedule was free. It was a direct result of not being invited to USA vs. the World in the first place.

That's the real reason why I didn't watch it. I couldn't stand ANW dissing off the originators of the show and told them really they aren't good. Obviously it's not really their fault since the course is more built for Americans so it shouldn't be an excuse. ANW hasn't been to kind with the Japanese though. I think anyway...
