lol good riddance with this stupid show if it is indeed the case that it's seeing an abrupt demise. Sorry to say it but I can't imagine anyone above the age of 13 admiring any of these "Ninjas" of ANW or enjoying the show in general. I think I'm being generous with 13, but kids will admire anyone and any thing these days. I actually prefer the sob stories of every day Joes rather than these accomplished Ninjas posing before their runs with their egos visualized on the screen behind them. With that said, the show is a sad attempt at draining the juice of what ANW had started, and both have past their peak. It was pretty neat at first, but I really don't think anybody at a reasonable number cares to follow the wins and losses of a bunch of teams of people you might know from the main season. And the action just isn't entertaining enough to warrant the long process of eliminations, or to even just bob in and out of the season in general to "enjoy it"
I know I sound cynical, and to be honest I haven't even watched any of the ANW shows in years aside from brief clips on FaceBook or YouTube, but oh well. I don't see how to put it any more nicely

Kind've hilarious that we're ripping into the cheesy intros when Sasuke has long had a bigass video screen announce each competitor.
Like don't get me wrong, the whole "ninja through the smoke" thing is incredibly cheesy, but I still think its a fun way to spend an hour.
Totally agree with Arsenette about over saturation though. Its hard for ANW to feel like event TV when we're constantly getting hit with ninja content.
Even Survivor knows to take some time off.

lol good riddance with this stupid show and to be honest I haven't even watched any of the ANW shows in years Do you realize how selfish you sound? You imply that just because you don't enjoy the show - mind you, that you won't even take a chance on - everyone else must suffer. Ninja vs. Ninja is great and possibly the most fun I've had watching any ninja-related show in years, and I know I'm not the only one echoing this sentiment.

Is it just me but didn't Paul Hamm look like he is out of shape (by ninja standards), he seemed winded.

Already pointed out what I said was in a very negative connotation X'D. Don't need to watch a show I can already see (what should be) highlights of online that aren't alluring. Not implying at all if I don't like something then everybody else has to lose their cherished show, just saying I think it's lame and I think the brand would ultimately benefit if it was cut loose or at least readapted in a productive way that doesn't interfere with the main season LOL. The numbers are starting to agree with me.

I always hated the idea of the ninjas racing each other, but I gave the show a shot, and I'm kinda over it this season. I'm feeling the fatigue. Not of Sasuke itself, but NBC/ANW being constantly milked. I'm not watching any ANW episodes until ANW10 officially premieres. That way I'm more hyped, like I am for Sasuke and Kunoichi.

My video on episode 3. Despite being over the age of 13, I quite like this episode.

Like don't get me wrong, the whole "ninja through the smoke" thing is incredibly cheesy, but I still think its a fun way to spend an hour. I like the screen, and my main problem with the smoke thing is how it's just a random platform in the middle to set up their profile segment rather than smoke over the start lines and they walk up the stairs to the platform. At the same time that would go terribly since it seems like they didn't buy enough fog machine fluid to last since we've already seen plenty of competitors get knee high smoke

Hmmm let me put my opinions in a different light, because I think this is a problem that modern Sasuke has been getting wrong as of late as well and I was too adamant in my previous wording: The appeal of this genre of entertainment to me and others always felt very grassroots. Old school Sasuke rarely forced itself or its competitors on its audience in order to accrue attention. The show reacted to the call of the viewer and put select individuals in the lime light who were both desirable in the producers' and the watchers' view. People genuinely loved the All Stars, and still do to this day. It was a natural connection, not just between the viewer and the star, but between the stars themselves. It felt very real (And before I hear it, YES, there are exceptions to this - some dudes like Yukio Iketani or Sato Hiromichi existed, but it's different if you let me elaborate. Also, I don't want to be the old guy with a cane lecturing on the good old days... but I'm self-aware to this notion; this isn't nostalgia speaking) ANW on the other hand has to have a conjured up hashtag for every individual who gets screen time, and select favorites are chosen every season to be shown in general or to be allowed on shows such as Ninja vs. Ninja (by the way can I mention how much of a pet peeve I have for people referring to the "sport" as "Ninja"? Oh my ****ing God......) Point is, the show, and this show in particular (Ninja vs. Ninja), has some of the most boring people, like 100 people, shoved in the audience's faces and people are expected to care. Maybe I truly am alone on this, but I don't care about how big Barclay Stockett's family is and what they eat for dinner. I give the original ANW season more credence because the less good, more zany characters you come across have actual interesting backgrounds and stories sometimes - even if it is usually a sobfest. Are these athletes gifted? Absolutely. Do I blame them for NBC's editing of the show? Nope. Are some of them actually really cool? Yes, I love a lot of the people on the show. But the idea I'm getting at is something that I think everybody already inherently knows or believes (perhaps besides the people like Mr. 2D2Will who actually like the show, and good for them), ANW has become a double edge sword. It has gotten so big (statistically peaked), that is has created its own self defeatist system in that it made so many "names", that it's using them to push the show further, but actually just causing the brand to collapse by its own push of the trigger. There is no natural gravitation toward this show left in my opinion. Everybody has their last name printed on the back of their shirt and want to make it on the TV show. Nobody (I am speaking in hyperbole...) is sitting down to watch 12 damn weeks of qualifiers to get to know these people... More people -STATISTICALLY- aren't watching ANW related shows anymore. I know some of you SasukeManiacs enjoy it, I wish I could too. I think it is a symptom of the oversaturation already discussed here by previous users, and the nature of the show getting stale and digging its own grave with forced audience grabbing techniques. I hope people are really reading what I'm saying. Besides the people, what do you have left? The obstacles? IMO the obstacles are sub par but again that's completely preferential... either way I don't think the obstacles or the announcers or anything will bring this show back up to a steady incline in popularity, or even a stagnation. Do I have a solution to the problem I'm proposing? No, I think like I said the system at hand has no choice but to fall back on itself. Nature of the game sort of thing. The only reason I can really see why the show got so much buzz in the first place was because the idea truly is innovative and awesome... thanks Japan... but things peak I understand people still like to tune in now and again to watch some of the action, I do too. And hey, the show will probably go on for a lot more seasons, and I truly think that's because of kids and their parents, sorry. I don't know how adults can sit down and watch these shows OR TV IN GENERAL ANYMORE... and that's a whole separate issue Let me just say I think Higuchi knows what's good. Edit: I forgot to mention how I thought Modern Sasuke relates to this issue. You have like what, 15 competitors who are really showcased each tournament? Hioki, Black Tigers, guys in the 80s and 90s. It's a lot of faces to see and few but us Maniacs really kinda care. I still do actually, but I can tell most old school users on this board are done mentally with Sasuke. It's almost as if forcing celebrities on the audience and a bunch of lacking character dudes in the upper numbers doesn't have much appeal. Also, just like ANW, the hype for Sasuke peaked a long time ago. I still think both show brands are great and I can't complain about much more, but this Ninja Vs. Ninja thing just really annoys me. The damn smoke that fires when the competitors stand up at the start line... okay I'm done

Well it looks like they did block filming this time around (e.g. multiple episodes that have the same interchangeable obstacles). Anyone know whether there are more blocks of different obstacles we haven’t seen yet?
I saw the Ring Swing on Instagram so there must be at least one more?

Well a bit of a bummer of an episode for me. I tuned in late to find that the NorCal Ninja’s had been eliminated. Then the Criss Cross Ring Toss was back. I was hoping to see NorCal vs. The Wolfpack and two new obstacles.
The fun thing about this episode was it that it makes it even more obvious that the OG ninja’s, including Drew, need to watch out. The kids who have watched ANW for years are here and will kick your butt.
Despite my disappointment about the return of the episode 1 obstacles, it makes sense the produces would run several matches in a row on the same course before changing up the obstacles. It looks like we’ve seen the courses for the qualifying round. Hopefully the Wildcard and Playoff rounds will have some new combinations.
I’ve waited to post on the new format. I enjoyed TNW but had issues with the scoring format. I was one of many who came up with my own scoring system. I was all set to have my own for the revised version, After four episodes, I no complaints, except for some favorites losing on early rounds. The new scoring and even the relays for points 4 & 5 are great changes, The win or sit down aspect of the episodes is great. ANW has made a good show great.

Looks like we’ve seen all the obstacle combinations for the qualifying round (eps 1-9). My guess is the wild card (eps 10-12) round will be another block where all three episodes have the same obstacles. The playoffs (eps 13-15) will be another block with the same obstacles. Hopefully the finals will get their own set. I’s like to see the doorknob arch, floating steps, bungee road in future episodes, The bar hop might be good. I definitely don’t want to see the tire swing (in the same format) or the fly wheels again.

I feel like we’ll have three of each for the Qualifers, alternating in turn (we can see Pole Grasper and Spin Cycle back next week from the promo), but I feel like wild-cards will each have one of the sets from the first nine eps rather than a new one. But yes hopefully Playoffs and Finals rah have your set. Having five different sets but two obstacles that change rather than changing the fifth obstacle eight times like in previous seasons would be decent. If it’s only three or four sets of obstacles, I’ll be a big disappointed though. The combinations they used are a bit weird to me (e.g. having Double Tilt Ladder and Flying Monkey Bars - both monkey-bar obstacles - in the same set) but the obstacles themselves are good. Let’s hope the Ring Swing set works just as well!

I am actually happy to see this episode, cause at the Day 1 taping I was hanging out the Young Bloods the most. They are actually pretty cool kids hard to believe they are younger then me.
Also to mention the first episode that was taped that I went to was the one where Flex's Team won. One noticeable thing is that on the Tic Tot at that taping, the net was higher so they could just dive to the bottom no problem. So whatever episode has the higher net was the race taped.

Hilariously enough they're using the same score system that was used by Danish Team Ninja Warrior. For whatever reason Denmark decided to do a team season - its a lot of fun but also odd. Especially considering there hasnt even been a new season in quite some time.

What are numbers that get a show cancelled? Dunno. Depends on each channel's commitments and how much they think it's worth to keep on that timeslot. This is the 2nd year on USA but it's literally half of what they were pulling last season. Depends if the sponsors are different. Depends if they had different expectations, etc. The season isn't done yet so dunno if they are going to continue to slide.
