(Idk where to put this in, General Ninja Warrior or General Sasuke so I picked Sasuke xD) 2017, the time Ninja Warrior appeared around the world like... idk how to describe it. But look at the list of all competition (include Sasuke&ANW): Sasuke (JPN) ANW (USA) Ninja Warrior UK (Great Britian, Ireland , Scotland) Ninja Warrior (Indonesia, Malaysia, Arab, Spain, Italia, Bahrain, Thailand, Australia,...) Sasuke Vietnam (yes so proud as my country picked the name Sasuke not Ninja Warrior xD)
Ok, and is it really too much? We can look into it like this: “Back in 2009, only two main shows are Sasuke and ANW” “Now it’s 2017, idk how many there are out there tbh” It has pros and cons too: Pros: SMFers can appear in the spinoffs if they are not living in Japan/America. Wide appearance means more people know about the show. Cons: confusing people because of that widely. The quality of spinoffs are really low (expect ANW) Not having a main spirit of being a sport gameshow anymore (most of spinoffs see its as an entertainment show already, putting a course, open a trials, make them run in the course, inviting stars to be announcers just to gain popularity, which Sasuke pre-Rising era did really good)
So how do you feel about this? Leave a reply below and add @ + wharmy so I can know it easier.
Ps. You know why I didn’t include X-Sasuke of China

I don't mind the international spinoffs even if some of them are pretty terrible. Really we have too much being made in the US really, or at least that's how it feels at the moment since we've had Team Ninja Warrior, Celebrity Ninja Warrior, ANW USA vs The World finally airing from last year, and the main season of ANW starting, all of this in a short period of time

It's bad mainly because of over-saturation (my favorite example of failure due to over-saturation is the Guitar Hero / Rock Band series). Then again, over-saturation doesn't have to be the death of you, as long as you manage it sustainably. The Idols TV series is, according to Wikipedia, the most popular/successful in TV history, yet is far far more saturated than ANW/Sasuke currently is (you could argue it's on the decline and only a matter of time until it's death, but there is no doubt it's been a huge success regardless of what happens). I think it will come down to the emotional-investment of casual viewers. If viewers are too confused to piece together which ninja shows belong to which season/region, people will not care whether contestants do well or not. And Rider has a good point in that it's probably more of an issue with intra-country shows rather than inter-country shows. It's hard for us die-hards to keep track of it all, but casual viewers in, say, America have no idea about Sasuke, much less Ninja Warrior Bahrain, and therefore will never confuse them for each other. Personally, I only follow ANW (the flagship show, not the spinoffs) and Sasuke, and could care less about the others. I mean, the others are probably great and have great contestants, but I can only follow so much. So they can come and go as they please; I don't really consider this good or bad.

Well, only shows i watch related to obstacle based shows are SASUKE(suprise suprise), Viking, kunoichi and occasionally ANW, those smaller scale versions tend to be really booring and repetitive

I don't mind about it, I rarely watched the spinoff shows, but I can tell their getting a lot of support from it. Still won't forget David Campbell's Run in Vietnam 2. And plus, idc if we have spinoffs or not, what I'm waiting for is when the hell there will be a South Korean spinoff?

Most people only watch the version of Ninja Warrior that's produced in their country and maybe the Japanese original. There are very few people outside of these forums that will attempt to watch every version of the show from the entire world. If anything, we have choices. Find the flavor of Sasuke you like and enjoy it.

How recognizable is the SASUKE brand itself in South Korea, a country that has a general ban on Japanese TV? Sure, people can see it on the internet but most countries that end up with a SASUKE/NW franchise had some kind of terrestrial TV presence. If anything, it would get into the country via the popularity of ANW.

Of course not North Korea I mean they might have one, except it's probably not called "Sasuke" or "Ninja Warrior" it's just called "Fearless Leader's Physical Challenge Course"

Why is this question asked like it's a bad thing that so many countries are hopping on the Sasuke train? Shouldn't people have the right to have it in their (neighbouring) countries/available in their language because they can't deal with looking for ways to watch shows in languages they might not be fluent in and that are not necessarily that easy to find. First seasons in new places will always lack some of the quality previous versions have right now but it's not unfixable, NW France felt pretty cringey to me last year but they changed stuff this year and I found it nicer although it still needs bettering (move the hosts, lower the time limits). I don't think it's too much if a show is licensed in lots of countries, nobody cares about Idol or Masterchef having local versions all over the world. It's too much, imo, when you reach a stage where there are multiples of the same concept within one place, we don't need every channel to have it's own talent search/cooking competition/big brother-ish show and their spin-offs.

My problem with the Euro spinoffs is how cookie cutter s*** is. It's the same exact show in different places.

But so are other reality competition shows, and if you just take one local version of any of these shows, it's the exact same thing in the exact same place every single season only with a different cast.
Being a fan of something doesn't mean you have to buy/play/watch (and like) every new version of it but chances are you'll keep seeing more of the same at some point anyway.
