Yessssssss. I'm more excited than ever, hopefully Mori, Naoki, or Masato (if he competes) gets this one. I just don't like the Spodan being Gaku Sano and Sekiguchi taking over the show again.
(Also, if I recall correctly, there was Nomura's son competed last year right?)

www.tbs.co.jp/spodan/The list of competitors is unclickable right now, perhaps to hide the secret competitor. New event called the Ultimate Wheel. And no Gaku Sano.

Is it me, or is Naoki, Sekiguchi not competing as well? There the reasons why I watch Spodan now with Sano & Mori. I guess, they had something to do in their schedules that time. It's as if the whole show could possibly going to be favored by Mori & Nomura's Son. To me, I don't know about the ultimate wheel, it's just literally monkey bars in a wheel, but surely, i know if Yusuke Morimoto competes in Spodan, he'll probably destroy everyone in the Ultimate Wheel. {Spoiler (BIG SPOILER, you've been warned)} Literally in the beginning of the video, someone passed the 23rd level of the Monster Box.

Anybody know what was up in Shotgun Touch? The points and distance did not add up The scores were 360, 330 and 325 but they made them 40&50cm advantages. It clearly said 10pts=10cms and there hasn't been weird stuff like this in previous seasons so not sure what's up

{Spoiler (My thoughts)} Mother fudging Mori. He almost won Spodan, and just missing out in 3rd place was emotional, considering how consistent he was in the previous years. Nomura's son have won in his 2nd attempt, and papa Nomura is proud of him.

Being in 1st at the start of the event gives you the advantage of having to cover less distances. Being in 3rd means you must cover the longest distances to obtain first on every turn (since every success puts you in first). The machine only goes in 10cm increments. Competitors are attempting distances that cover the distance between their position and first. Having just watched it, this might be my favorite SpoDan tournament. Sano and Sekiguchi not competing, as fun as it is seeing them compete, actually made it much more competitive. Mori is a former champion, but he's more inherently beatable as evident by the fact despite him leading all night (won Hard Jumper, top 4 in Monster Box, tied for 2nd in Ultimate Wheel, 2nd in Power Wall), he still ended up 3rd overall because he finally ran out of steam even though he never even had to do 12m 00cm yet Hirano didn't struggle until his last couple tries and Nomura almost never struggled. Would love to see guys like Nomura, Hirano, Sano and Sekiguchi in Sasuke on top of Mori. Even shoehorn a SpoDan vs Shin Sedai rivalry if you want.

But the points differences were 30&35, so I would expect the advantage to be 30&40, but it was 40&50 unless my math was just totally derping

But the points differences were 30&35, so I would expect the advantage to be 30&40, but it was 40&50 unless my math was just totally derping Mori had 360, Hirano had 330 and Nomura had 325. Hirano needed 40 cm more to take the lead over Mori (370 over 360). When that happened, then Nomura would need 50 to take the lead from Hirano. (375 over 370). Whenever Mori goes again, he just needs to re-establish the threshold to re-take the lead.
That said, outside of establishing the cm differences, the points don't matter anymore. Because of the formatting of the event, once the cm differences are established, you are automatically in the lead as long as you complete your distance until someone else beats theirs. And since you only receive one try, failure is an automatic loss. Which is why they keep going until there's only one person remaining. Mori only went up by 10 cm each time when it was still a 3 way (he may have gone up 20 on one try unless the previous attempt was cut since everyone made it but went right back to just 10 cm difference on his last go). Once Mori got knocked out, Hirano no longer had a threshold and thus did 40 cm more than his last successful attempt as Nomura only needed to do 10 cm better. Once they were both successful, Hirano only needed to do 10 cm more than his last as it just becomes a 10 cm battle until someone finally misses, which Hirano did while Nomura was in first.

Thanks, this is actually a great explanation and I understand how the scoring works now. Thanks!
