He's from M9-era and TBS really doesn't like that much competitors from that era. Atleast in re-runs and sometimes on main broadcast they show him and his fluff pieces.

He's an incredibly consistent competitor (only failed Stage 1 twice) but he's never really had, in this era, a breakout performance. He fails where most everyone does. It sucks, but some of it is a matter of circumstance. Take when he got digested in 30 on Stage 3 -- he was one of six fails at the UCH, of which 3 were shown: Hioki, Kanno and Asa. Hioki was the first to compete in the stage so you have to show him in full, and Kanno and Asa had the storylines of trying to prevent three years of CCH failure (plus they're Shin Sedai and the last two to compete in the stage). While he was shown in full in the rebroadcast, there was a lot of interesting stories in Stage 3 alone and he was expendable in that regard. Whenever he clears in Stage 2, it's always down to the wire but never in such a way like Okuyama or Ishikawa where it's memorable just based off the dash to the finish.
He should be shown more, but he's also a good competitor who is just there. He was gone for four years, if TBS didn't like him, there would be no reason to bring him back. He's been in every tournament since 29. Inui just has a very predictable style of editing. Being digested 7 times is a bit much though (29 Stage 1, 30 Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, 32 Stage 2, 33 Stage 1, Stage 2)

Perhaps they do, but they must not hate him as much as M9 did. He's been re-invited so often.

No, they don't hate him if they keep inviting him, but I REALLY hate Inui's style of editing.

Behind the scenes stuff I've learned over the years: Shun has had the unfortunate problem of having a really bad management firm. He's considered an outright talento as far as TBS and even M9 are concerned and they treat him the way they want to treat the management firm... poorly. It's a shame because I really like him and he's really nice to anyone who meets him and to all the other competitors. He is not the problem. He's really quiet too so it's not like he's too loud or anything. If anything anyone can fault him is that he has no television presence to speak of because he's really quiet. I wish he'd ditch his management firm though.. it's not as bad as the one he had back in the M9 days (the one that got him booted when M9 was in charge) but it's still enough that they don't like having to deal with his firm when they want HIM on. His results are literally the only reason why he's back because they have no legitimate reason not to invite him so as a result they do this to him. I hate it personally. He's one of my faves.

It's also amazing how thin-skinned TBS is at times. "We don't like this management firm even though the person himself is pretty alright, so we'll mess with his edit." The pettiness.

Welcome to my world for the past 9 years.. LOL It's interesting how M9 was just as bad as TBS is now - just manifested itself differently.

One of the VERY FEW things I liked about SASUKE 32 was that he WASN'T digested at ALL. I had no clue it wasn't just Inui pulling us. I like Shunsuke too so he needs the love.

I was so annoyed when he got FF'd in 29's Stage 1. Stage 2's ridiculous time limit cut prevented him from having that "breakout" performance (it would have been, considering he had not competed for 6 years). In 30 it was understandable since he had the same results as everyone else. He wasn't even shown in 31, which was ridiculous.

Yep.The fact that his management firm is bad,and he isn't bad is horrendous. When TBS wants to determine whether a person gets digested, they always look to their management firm.NOT THE PERSON ITSELF!!!!!
