I think SASUKE 9-13 had the best third stage. Not a bad obstacle in there!
1. Rumbling Dice 2. Body Prop 3. Lamp Grasper 4. Cliffhanger 5. Pipe Slider
What do you guys think?

In terms of difficulty.. SASUKE 25 with fixed UCH. Very difficult, and just the way Stage 3 should be. I would rather do SASUKE 31's Stage 3 rather than SASUKE 25's. In terms of what I just think looks cool... SASUKE 23. It was pretty cool, and I like longer Stage 3's. Obstacles were great, too.

What was wrong with 25s UCH?

What was wrong with 25s UCH? Everyone who reached it failed before the 3rd ledge and only two people even attempted the reach to the 3rd, not quite understanding they had to be at the complete edge of the 2nd ledge to have a chance. Which is why in 26 they lowered the 3rd ledge which then made the transition to the 4th ledge harder.

Best 3rd stage? I'd say SASUKE 14-17 was best imo. Love my old fashioned obstacles, no fancy cliffs or crazy flips or upside down rock climbing. That's just a rock climbers fantasy. Seriously it is.

ANW8. Enough technique to avoid overly favoring the rock climber.

ANW8. Enough technique to avoid overly favoring the rock climber. Wrong tournament format.. this is General Sasuke.

14-24 were my favorite Third Stages, but especially 14-17. The format of 4 stand-alone obstacles followed by 4 connected obstacles worked very well. 14-17 had the extra drama of the Body Prop which was a slow and tense obstacle. 18-24's was great as well, but like every version of the Third Stage since, the Cliffhanger took too much of the spotlight.

I'm going with 9 through 13.
I recently watched alot of those older competitions like 1 through 17 after having not seen them in years. I'm going with one of the 3rd stages that had the rumbling dice and about 5 or 6 unconnected obstacles (meaning rest areas between them). If you trained daily and stayed healthy, I think that would be enough to conquer Sasuke having no idea what challenges await (Jordan Jovtchev did this on his first try)
Sasuke 18 ruined all that by introducing a twist to probably the most iconic Stage 3 obstacle. Ever since 2007 they keep reworking this obstacle to ensure it cannot be completed without practicing on a replica over and over.
Sasuke 28 brought back the Rumbling Dice, Curtain Cling and Pipe Slider which was neat. And it was only 6 obstacles which I like better than 8 for some reason.

Even though the UCH was overkill- mainly the jump to the little ledge and I didn't mind the length of the whole obstacle- I love 26's Stage 3 the most...I think, closely followed by the 14-15 Stage 3.
26's had a beautiful RC followed by the deceptively difficult Doorknobs. I prefered the Floating Boards to Cycling Road, but that was a minor change. The UCH was what it was. I wish we could have seen the Swing Circle/Rope Junction combo. And the Flying Bar was a beautiful and elegant way to end the stage.
