For those who watched, what did you think of the move to have the Monster Box first? I think from a physical standpoint it was interesting: like they wanted everyone to have fresh legs in an attempt to get someone to go past 20 boxes. On the other hand, the Monster Box is always the longest event and gave the overall show a sort of SASUKE effect where the 1st Stage/Event gets the majority of the time and everything after that gets squashed into the remaining time.

In comparison to the 2010 video I was having a lot of trouble finding the Monster box in general since there were so many other events. I like it being the 1st thing shown so I don't have to look for bits and pieces of it scattered across the broadcast.

As I'm watching currently, I share your sentiments. It's nice seeing someone like Hirano break through and therefore you don't forget about him the rest of the broadcast (of course, I only just finished Monster Box as of this so maybe he disappears, would be a shame) but to only be done with one event an hour and 22 minutes in, despite it being my favorite event, does give off that SASUKE vibe with Stage 1. I'm ready to see the other events.

{Spoiler}Hirano not being in contention at the end is his own fault. I don't know if they knew they had such a potential star in Hirano going in (obviously by the broadcast they knew what he could do). He also has one of the shortest run ups to the box of all the contestants. All of the Big 3 start farther away and Iketani throws in the Iketani Shuffle for good measure - he wouldn't need to do that if he just started closer.

I was soooooo thrown off by Monster box being at the start. I thought they at first they screwed up the editing. LOL Maybe it's me.. but I kinda like beach flags starting. LOL Monster box is just 1 obstacle in the list of events for the totality of Sportsman traditionally so I wasn't bothered overall by it's placement. That said, I miss some of the bigger things.. gallon throw, power force, even the tail impossible was interesting. It's not that the others were not but if I were to pick my least favorite "boring" was a tie between the jump rope thingie and the hourglass weights thing. I'm not angry it is there.. just .. weird.. Then again Sportsman was filled with stuff like pulling trucks. LOL

I'd rather the Heavy Press have a higher limit since there are enough guys who can take the 160 kg but it could actually crush some of the smaller guys especially if there were no upper limit.
I like the Hard Jumper because it destroys guys and this year several newbies just plain screwed up the timing and cost themselves big points.
The Tail Impossible is predictable: if there is no long distance runners, pick the soccer guy.

I guess I miss guys like Terek and other non-pretty boy boy band and model types. I miss the actual athletes doing this so I welcome the Pro version coming back.

Watching the whole thing and you can bet I was hoping for Iketani to school the new kids. Nope. He got schooled. But hey the show was fun to watch! I can't wait to see more. ^^
