With the re-airing of the Kunoichi shows, it almost makes me wonder if Esquire may be trying to gauge interest in producing an all female special/spinoff.

Been curious about Kunoichi as well. I know for a fact that TBS has been trying to find a way to bring back Kunoichi. Hell it damn nearly succeeded a couple years ago. We'll see what happens. Lord knows Comcast has a really nice group of very strong women that can win that. It might be the answer instead of the World Cup which I know Japan wants as a men's competition.

While I didn't mind 8's format (outside of the unfortunate Final Stage and Flying Roll competitor cutoff), a legit return of Kunoichi would be magnificent, as I've been wanting a Women of ANW for a while. Anything that gets either of those off the ground.

I think a woman's qualifier might be more realistic. They would be able to show (most likely) some female finals course clears with some easier obstacles, and women would actually earn the right to go to Vegas instead of having to get there through wildcards.

That's a perfect idea...either an all-female or an all-international qualifier would suit ANW.

My main problem with K8 was the huge shift in format, would have been perfectly fine (barring the Final Stage DQ) if it wasn't called Kunoichi (and it almost wasn't)

It was really weird seeing it come back after that hiatus only to get that 4v4 format in the first stage. I would have preferred it being called something else as well. Not sure where you heard that it wasn't going to be called Kunoichi.

Not sure where you heard that it wasn't going to be called Kunoichi. Remember when they had applications open for "Female Sasuke" (Or at least that was the translation disaster), unfortunatly the source was Monster9's website and we know what's going on with that, but they didn't call it Kunoichi on the initial announcement/applications sasukemaniac.proboards.com/thread/1086/kunoichi-8-announced

I'm not sure since I'm hadn't blogged Kunoichi before but didn't they always say that? I'd have to ask lostinube if that was indeed the case. I found it weird because I was always told that Kunoichi never had open applications before 8. That show was pretty much over by the time I was blogging so I have no idea. Edit: Ube already said it in the thread: Good news for everyone. Weird how they're not using the name KUNOICHI. Mods, how are we going to handle this? A new category for the show ala SASUKE 23? Both together?

They could very well be waiting until after the Olympics.

They could very well be waiting until after the Olympics. NBC Universal owns Esquire, but Esquire doesn't air any Olympic footage. They actually spent tonight rather shamelessly airing a marathon of What Would Ryan Lochte Do in spite of his part in a damn near international incident. Considering we knew about it since the beginning of the month, it's a little disconcerting to wait until 12 days before to remind the general public considering it starts in the morning. Every other network that airs Olympics footage still had the time to promote and air their other shows.

Most of their schedule is out. As of this post they have Saturday and Sunday's schedule. During the really early hours they don't post which shows are being aired but as the day goes on it shows which season and what state. So far it seems to alternate between Sasuke and Kunoichi in chronological order. Monday's isn't out yet. I was curious how they were going to handle the ANW centric ones.

I hated when they did the misleading all day marathons that turned out to be every Kunoichi, but this seems it has both Sasuke and Kunoichi so I'm hyped.

Weird that the Esquire site doesn't say the tournament for half of them. However, the listings on TV Guide will have the title for each episode. They're starting with Sasuke 2.
If anyone's wondering, Sasuke 1 was shown as a 1 hour special without the fancy G4 graphics.

Is anyone going to be uploading these to YouTube or the forums? Some people don't have Esquire with their TV package. Or if your like me, I only can afford internet Haha.

SMF personally doesn't upload to YouTube. Anyone who does is doing it under their own power. Esquire has an on-demand service of sorts with a cable subscription log in like other networks do. Since they air the encores of ANW, I noticed they have All-Stars and all of this season up to that has aired. They also allow you to watch whatever is live on the network on their site. However, I'm not sure whether original Ninja Warrior will be archived there.

I'm also laughing at the Satsuke. ♥ Edit. Btw it seems they are showing 26 tournaments.. but not the FIRST 26.. They seem to be showing 2-27. And.. they are skipping Kunoichi 6?
