I'm writing this because as we know, TBS has been trying to get this guy back as lately as 2014. Everyone talks about this guy returning like it would be the most epic thing ever, but he comes from a different time... A time of six obstacle long stages, shorter warped walls, no salmon ladders, cliffhanger kais and more.
Out of interesting I'm wondering if Kane was to return in the Rising era, would he be any good? At most I could see him clearing stage 1 tbh, as his age and the legendary status he had would also be handicaps. What do you think?

He's 41 now, so if he made a return, he wouldn't return in prime condition.

The idea of Kane Kosugi finally making his return to SASUKE after so many years is not that how good he does. It's the well-known feud betweem him and production(?) that made Kosugi ultimately quitting and never coming back, thus making a really interesting story. It's very similar if we look wrestling business, where CM Punk walked out and never came back.
If Kane Kosugi someday returns, it's not about how bad he perfoms or some s*** like that, it's about burrying the hatchet and moving on. That's the reason i want to see it.

But the beef was between Monster9 and Kane. Monster9 is no more. Kane has moved on and if he holds true to what he's said before, he would only try if he had the time to seriously train. As far as I can tell, he isn't in Japan all that often these days. But he still keeps in shape: www.instagram.com/kane_kosugi/

There is no M9 nowadays so why Kane still doesn't come back? I think it's the same reason why CM Punk won't come back, even though Vince passes away. The bitterness is still strong, and it's hard to swallow. I see Kane's "i'll comeback if i really train for it" slogan bulls**t, since looking his instagram he is really damn good shape to be 41 (comparing to Okuyama, Nagano, Takeda, Yamamoto etc). After all, it's just a obstacle course show.

I've heard he's in better shape than he was when he competed.

If he can come back and does get his time to train, I'd say he'd be solid overall. Not sure how far he'd go exactly, but I know he'd be really solid.

Well if Kane didn't eliminate Punk from the Rumble maybe Punk wouldn't have walked out.
